I am volunteering as the conference director for a non-profit group that is coming to San Francisco for a conference in early March 2010, and we are looking for activities for our members for our opening night reception and our closing night dinner. We have had crafting tables at our conferences before, and they have proven to be popular with the group since most attendees seem to enjoy taking home a keepsake from the event.
Our tentative themes for the opening reception is "A Taste of San Francisco," and our closing night dinner will be "Flashback to the 70's" (our organization is celebrating its 40th annversary in 2010), so we'd like to find some people who'd be willing to come in an lead us in crafting lessons related to those themes. Ideas we have tossed around include tie-dyeing or Chinese crafts for the first night, as well as making pet rocks, beaded necklaces, or mood rings on the latter evening.
If you have any specialties related to these themes and would be interested in teaching a class, we would love to hear your ideas. The dates of the event will be Saturday, March 6, for the opening reception and Monday, March 8, for the closing dinner, and we are expecting about 150 people to show up for the conference (although not everyone will be crafting, of course). The location will be at one of the hotels in the Union Square area in downtown San Francisco.
Thanks!!
