1) Why have PCs/laptops (save that of Apple) become effectively commoditized (i.e., the lowest priced offering reigns supreme) while the traditional software vendors have maintained pricing power? Moreover, what are the implications of reduced pricing power for revenue, margins and valuation?

2) Is a decrease in a prepaid expense (an asset) a use or a source of cash when deriving cash flow from operations (using the indirect method)? Why?

3) If you could only use one financial statement (balance sheet, income statement or cash flow statement) to value a company, which statement would you use and why?

4) What is risk and how is it quantified, and why is a leveraged buy-out considered to be a classic case of risk arbitrage?

5) Should a company pursue an acquisition if doing so would be dilutive to earnings per share? Why or why or not?

6) What is the required resume length (in pages) for a junior to mid-level applicant? What two items must be on your resume in order to materially increase your odds of receiving a phone or in-person interview?

If you are having difficulty answering any or all of the above questions, then you are also likely having difficulty penetrating the world of high-level finance (investment banking, private equity, asset management, etc.), especially set against an economic backdrop which has an increasing amount of people chasing a decreasing amount of jobs. That is why it is of paramount importance to enhance the breadth and depth of your understanding of both the industry and the skills (financial modeling and valuation analysis) necessary to succeed in high-level finance in order to rise above the competition. And that is exactly why I started conducting the financial training and valuation workshop (a 6-day intensive seminar covering the industry with a focus on financial modeling and valuation analysis) – to provide you with that competitive edge.

For more details regarding the workshop (workshop dates, cost, agenda, instructor biography, etc.), please contact us at the above referenced email.
