Tuesday Men's Basketball Team SF City Is Looking for Players (USF)

Our team SF City is playing in the Norcalathletics Basketball league that starts this Tuesday November 17 at USF. We are looking to add 2 more solid players to our roster.
Game times are from 6:30-9pm and the season lasts for 8 weeks. We play on Usf's varsity court with college rules except foul out is NBA, and there are 2 certified refs on the court with scoreboards. The cost for an 8 week season, 2 referees, scorekeeper, playoffs, and a jersey is $80. Let me know if you are interested in playing.
Thanks

8 v 8, very competitive, and the games are at USF, Franklin Field, or Crocker Amazon on turf.

It's a really good league... fun, fast, clean... and typically the players that do well are fit, fast and have a good first touch.

We play in the Premier Division, have a really good team, and you really need to have played competitive soccer to a decent level.

Our preference is for flexible players who can play anywhere on the field.

If you're interested get in touch with your details, background, experience etc.

And you'll have to tryout. Thanks!

I don't even know if this would be the right place to post this or where to begin. I'm calling out on all of you casino craps players out there in the Bay Area and people around the Bay Area. .. be it newbies, amatures, professionals, or just people who are into it for fun! It's so hard to find people who play craps locally because most people just DON'T play craps, come on, its a fun and exciting game! I'm always looking for people to get together, to discuss about the game, stories, strategies, like minded people of ALL ages and races and genders. Lets start a a new circle of friends or companions, or group of aquantances on this, maybe we can plan something and fly to Vegas, drive to Reno, Tahoe, or hell, even Atlantic City.. and make the casinos OUR profit centers or ATMs. .. or hell, if anything we'll just be buds who hang out every now and then, doesn't hurt to meet someone new who has the same interests in casino gaming.
I'm not an addict, and I don't normally blow thousands on the table, but it sure IS exciting to toss them little sugar dotted cubes across the table! Let me know what you think, comments, hang outs,.. My neighbor who recently moved out of the state found a old portable craps box and gave it to me with a bunch of dice, if only I knew HE was into it.. we could have started something.
Anyways, hope to hear from you folks soon! Lets chill and have a great time and maybe hit up Reno at least! Thanks for reading!

Mission Cliffs / GWPC / IronWorks Climbing Partner Mornings/Mid-Day (mission district)

Do you enjoy climbing top-rope or bouldering at Mission Cliffs, Iron Works or GWPC but don't always have a regular partner?

Since my existing climbing partners can't always make it, I'd love meet additional climbers with which to do some routes and problems (optionally) exchange pointers.

I generally prefer off-hours times (mostly weekdays 8:30-12:30 or 1:30-5:30) and 3+-hour sessions (I like to build stamina on 8+ climbs per visit, especially when traveling to GWPC or Ironworks since I live in SF), so hopefully you're of like mind. If you're up for these longer timeframes, even if I happen to climb a bit faster or slower than you do, I'm happy to be patient as you climb at your pace if you can return the favor when I'm pushing myself on tougher climbs. Since my schedule changes week-to-week, I typically would email you once per week with desired days/times/places to climb, so you can reply-back if/when those dates/times/places work for you.

I've been climbing at Mission Cliffs primarily since January '09 and am currently a high-5.11 climber and V0-V4 boulderer. Getting over to GWPC and IronWorks at least once per week is a priority for me for some route variety (lately I've done so many of the MC routes over and over). I've also been starting to take my lead climbing tests (and very close to certification) - so I could use some lead partners (ideally around 180lbs. like me, but anyone else is fine too) for the test cycle (best time/location: 4PM-6PM weekdays) and ongoing lead climbs. I have a 1/2 length rope perfect for indoor mock leading or actual leading, which I'm happy to share.

Lastly, if you've done outdoor climbing locally, I've acquired outdoor gear and am looking to do more local day trips and extended out-of-area trips soon. I've set up and climbed top rope multiple places, and lead 5.5-5.8 trad climbs at Yosemite, Red Rocks & Joshua Tree.

If all of the above sounds good, please indicate so in your reply and include your phone number and info about your weekly schedule!

I look forward to meeting you!

Cheers,

Are You Passionate About Music, Climbing, Biking, Food, Conversation? (mission district)

Are you deeply into any or all of these activities and looking for others to do the same? Do you like to converse on what you're passionate about?

I'm a 32-yr-old Mission-district-dwelling cook/caterer, business consultant, indoor climber, distance cyclist, hiker, skiier, snowboarder, outdoor adventure seeker, music critic/appreciator and amateur guitarist seeking like-minded people to hang out with in and around San Francisco. I'm not seeking romantic relationships, as I have a long-term girlfriend.

Although I understand many people have familial, work, or other responsibilities that can make socializing difficult, I'm fortunate at the moment to have my own businesses and free time to make meeting people and developing friendships a high priority. If this is a high priority for you as well, let's meet and chat. I also love great cocktails and dive bars (and shooting pool or throwing darts), as well as cheap eats and fine dining restaurants alike.

Ideally you live in San Francisco as well, so commuting/logistical issues are minimized, allowing us to potentially do something regularly if we both gel. I often like to plan restaurant/bar, music, and outdoor activity outings, but I also love someone else to take the initiative and do some planning as well. Most importantly, no flaking - if you find it difficult to be on time and/or make decisions and hold commitments, no need to reply. I see friendships as relationships that deserve time and attention, not conveniences for filling unused time.

In my experience meeting other folks, we'll probably be a better fit if you are seriously into at least one or two of the activities/subjects I mentioned. If you're interested in any/all of them but haven't yet pursued, you may find more suitable folks to get started with on one of the many existing Yahoo-based local groups (meetup.com, SF Outside, 20s 30s Socials, Skipals, etc.). Also, if you prefer to socialize in large groups, you may want to look elsewhere. I prefer the genuine interactions that seem to arise from smaller groups of 2-3 people.

Again, please note that this is NOT a posting for a large "social group" with pre-set weekly/monthly meetings etc. If you are more large-group minded, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Lastly, it'd help if you're at least in your mid-20s, or at least a very mature early-20s. If you have a non-stop party mindset, or are just getting acquainted with San Francisco for the first time, while I'd be happy to give you some recommendations, I'm seeking people closer to my current level of maturity and state of mind and who will take the initiative to make plans.

Email me!

When you email me, please add my address to the Contacts folder or file in your email program - this will assure that you receive my replies promptly.

I look forward to meeting you!

I want to start a dining club (San Francisco)

I am relatively new to the Bay Area but plan to live here for quite a while. I work as a concierge/front desk agent at a cool historic hotel in downtown, very close to Union Square, the gate to Chinatown, etc. There are so many fabulous restaurants here and I love cuisine, wine, etc., and would like to dine out more so I can speak with firsthand knowledge to my guests and recommend restaurants. But being new I haven't developed a big group of friends yet, and dining alone is just not as fun. So I thought I'd see if some others wanted to get together, maybe twice a month or so, and dine at a different restaurant each time. I can make reservations for us using Open Table or Restaurant Row, as is my wont. I like all types of food, honestly I don't think there's a single type of cuisine where I haven't found a single dish I can get with (I love sushi and sashimi, love Italian and classical French cooking, Mexican/Cuban/Salvadoran, LOVE German food and beer, etc). I guess I don't really want to impose any restrictions as far as selecting the kind of people I'd like to dine with - I'm just thinking a very informal and casual thing where we get to eat some great food and meet some new people at the same time. To give you a brief sketch of myself: I am a 33 year old guy, tall, English/German by heritage, creative, a little geeky with lots of arcane obsessive interests; I love cats, books, vintage clothes, film (B movies, sci fi, horror), linguistics and language, Victorian houses, etc; came to the Bay from Maui and before that the Pacific Northwest (and before that ,Minnesota); have been a freelance journalist and amateur filmmaker in the past, among other things; and am really looking forward to getting to know this amazing city better. I also had the thought of improving my own cooking skills through this club, so maybe we could occasionally cook and dine at someone's house as well as in restaurants? Just a thought.

Hello!
My name is Heather and I am a junior colorist at San Francisco's award-winning Dekko salon in Potrero Hill. ..(Dekko has been voted San Francisco's Best Salon by both the SF Weekly and the SF Guardian for many years)

This is the very last week of an extensive 2-year Advanced Haircolor Training Program.
I am seeking a few people who would like to be Haircolor Models for me this week..

This is a fun and exciting way to try something new and receive a high-end haircolor service at a huge fraction of the regular cost at our salon. .

I am looking for people for any and all types of color services, including, but not limited to:

1) highlights (with or without lowlights)
2) all over tint
3) tint with some highlights
4) creative color- unique color placement, dramatic color, etc.
5) touchups on your current color
6) corrective color ( on a case by case basis - restrictions may apply)

All models will be considered, I am looking for a variety of color models, priority will be given to models with medium length or shorter hair.

The only charge will be for the cost of the color used, generally between $30 to $40 for highlights, and $20 for a tint. This includes a scalp massage, top of the line color, and a finished blowout style.

The salon is in the Potrero Hill District of San Francisco - street parking available, and right by the T train, 48 or 22 Muni lines. On Indiana St at 25th.

Appointments are during the day, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Must be available for the entire appointment (up to 3 hours) and serious about showing up. Contact me at the email address above for more info and to schedule an appointment!

I look forward to meeting you,
Heather

On Sunday October 16th of 1988 Ms Evalyn Lucien (Eva) disappeared from the Coit Tower Area of San Francisco, CA. She has not been heard from since. Help retrace her final steps and look for clues of what has become of her.

Through the generous efforts of Eva's friends, we have assembled an archive of her last year with us. Through the synthesis of these materials, we have pieced together what might have happened on the night of her disappearance. There are still a couple of pieces that don't quite fit. Can you help us place them?

I'm looking for people to study Japanese with. The ideal format I'm thinking of is to get together at a quiet cafe and study; everyone would bring his or her own study material and study, but anyone with questions can freely ask and those that have answers will help.
Right now I'm studying Japanese rather intensely, almost everyday after work on weekdays and in the mornings on weekends.
I find it more productive when I study in a group, because (1) it really forces me to study because I feel obligated to come to the study group, (2) I can't study at home because there are way too many distractions, and (3) studying at cafe means ready access to fresh coffee and snacks.
So, if anyone wants to study together, drop me a line. Thanks.

Want to put your goalkeeping skills to work in fun, full-field games? Then you might be a great match for our co-ed team that is looking for a goalkeeper to help us win! We play in San Francisco fields, i.e. Lowell High School and Silver Terrace through January. It's a fun co-ed league, intermediate level, and if you're a goalkeeper or at least would like to try it out, please e-mail me! Goalkeeping experience is preferred but not mandatory, either male or female. It's about $70 to register for the season, through Sports4Good.org, an organization that donates to charities. If you want to join us, our second game is this Sunday, and we play Sundays usually between 12 pm and 4:30. Minimum age is 18.

Reply to the above e-mail. Interested soccer goalkeepers only, please!

Thanks!

I've lived in SF for almost five years now, but I haven't experienced the oh so San Franciscan event that is Bay to Breakers. Nope, never heard it, never watched it, never run it. So I'm considering giving it a go in 2010.

10K's used to be my thing, but after running a half and a full marathon some years back, I was just like "forget this" and have stuck to 5K's since. In my last race, I got fairly close to my goal of a sub 7:30 pace. But whatever with PR's, simply finishing* Bay to Breakers will be enough - it's about seeing all the crazy costumes and just enjoying the morning.

I'm thinking we can do a weekly 6 or 7 mile run up and down the Embarcadero, with an optional 2 to 3 mile short run between the long ones. ...From now till 3 or so weeks before the event in May 2010.

If you can be real about preparation from now till the race, contact me. If you happen to have costume ideas or have run Bay to Breakers before, let me know about that too. Cheers!

greetings potential activity or volunteer partner ;
here's my story, and what i am looking for;
Every holiday season, (and times during the year)-i travel out of state to do volunteer work, to avoid the Christmas shopping frenzy here in the bay area. this year i am traveling to the island of Kauai, to work for 3wks, with Habitat for Humanity. i typically fund my own way, and whatever the organization can throw in for me, is a bonus. this year i have free housing, AND i found this incredible deal on Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays for $245 per ROUND TRIP ticket into Lihue, Kauai. this is a smokin deal, however the tickets can only be purchased for a pair ONLY, to get this price.

i was raised in the islands, and fairly well connected there. so i would like to take advantage of this airfare, with someone who would like to do the same, on a killer airfare. whether you come with me to volunteer, or wish to hit the outer islands, does not really matter to me. However if we can 'buddy up' together to purchase the tickets, is the main goal for me. IF you need connections, and contacts as to where to go and what to see, i can help you there. ideally there is no obligation for anything else, just buy one of the tickets, so we can take advantage of this. the airfare to the other islands, is about $25-50 one way, on the island commuter airlines, depending on the time of day you purchase it, really, its funny there at times.

thanks for looking. i own a reputable business in the bay area, and look forward to sharing this deal on a fantastic airline ticket to one of the most beautiful islands in Hawaii, one of my favorites... the Garden isle of Kauai.

call or email for details, i cannot post the link for this info here to adhere to the C.L. policy;
you are welcome to join me in any capacity, especially if you are looking to spend a Hawaiian Christmas... in Hawaii !
even if we don't go together, perhaps you can use it yourselves.
the island man in Burlingame 650-344-0566

the time frame for me to leave the bay area, is approximately Dec 18th, and returning the 1st week of Jan. 2010.

I'm looking for friends to go backcountry skiing with (Mt. Baldy, San Gorgonio, Sierra Nevada, Mt. Shasta, etc.), mostly on weekends. I am relatively experienced and know some of the SoCal and Sierra mountains; you should be at least intermediate (typical vertical gain 3000 or more feet/day) and have backcountry gear (or telemark if you're good at it). I'm not interested in crosscountry, but rather alpine ski tours. I'm trying to get together a small group, so please respond if you have similar interest. (I have already a few friends for BC skiing, but a few more can't hurt :)) I'm located in L.A. but if you're located somewhere else in CA please respond too (I'm also going to Mt. Shasta, etc.!). P.S.: You have to leave your contact info (phone nr) if you're interested in doing ski tours together. Thanks!

Baseball Players Needed (Bay Area)

This post includes 3 parts.

1.) 35+ players for next summer. BAMSBL
2.) 18+ players for pickup games. For pickup games in SF starting in about 3 weeks.
3.) 18+ throwing/pitching partner for me. Near Foster City/San Mateo, mornings-Tuesdays & Thursdays.

35+ Players.

Our 35+ summer team is looking for baseball players 35 years old or older with experience who are ready to step on the field next March and produce. We've had some bad luck drafting players who performed well in the draft then didn't hit a lick in an actual game. Yikes!

Of course like any team we're always open to the idea of improving our pitching staff. But we're open to improving the team at every position. Team first! Are you a good catcher with a good arm who can hit? Welcome aboard! Can you play any position and can hit a ton? Welcome aboard. We've got a talented core of players who are good teammates but we do need to improve. Again, 35 years old and older.

18+ Players. www.pickupbaseball.org

For anyone 18+ I'll be scheduling pickup games with an umpire in SF every weekend until next March in SF. These games will begin in about 3 weeks so. The cost is $8-$10 per player per game and you'll be required to sign a liability waiver. The BAMSBL fallball season has about 3 weeks remaining which is when the games will start. If you haven't played in a while and are looking to get back into the game this is a great way to get ready for next season. Also, the BAMSBL has players who organize trips to Phoenix and other locations for tournaments if you're interested. I can forward your email to those players who organize the teams for the tournaments.

18+ Throwing/Pitching Partner.

I'm looking for a workout partner. The only time during the week when I know I'll have time is in the mornings. I'm happy to meet you anytime between 8:30AM and 10AM on Tuesday and Thursdays. I like to throw a heavy ball for 10 minutes or so then a regular ball for another 15 or 20 minutes. I've got some golf ball whiffle balls that I really like to use for BP. If you're available let me know.

Help Fight Breast cancer Free >
Hi to all Breast Cancer supporters. This seems pretty simple. Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free funding for mamograms. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "Fund Free Mamograms" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate money for advertising. Here's the web site! There is also a few links to feed animals, feed people and the rainforest site. Pass it along to people you know.

Obviously, you're not mature enough to be on Craigslist. The drawing idea is a WONDERFUL one. I have an interest in something like that also! Not only can you have fun developing a drawing hobby, but also develop friendship. You would know NOTHING about making friends though. I hope that maybe there is a little good deep within your soul that you could work on developing it, so you could have a friend. People don't like unkind brats. Best wishes!!

I don't know why anyone would say something negative about someone looking for a drawing partner. This person is simply interested in exploring a new hobby. It sounds like fun. If I lived in San Jose I would do it!

I have that week off as my office closes so wanted to do something as that is a long period to be bored at home. I am pretty open to doing/going somewhwere any period of time , but wouldn't mind taking a trip somewhere warm or at least warmer. It would be nice to take a nice tropical trip to relax on a beach or resort or just explore another city or even take a road trip.

What do you think? I'm up to listening to suggestions. And I wouldn't even mind if we have a little group if there are more than a few responses. and we should try to get together berforehand to talk and make sure we are somewhat compatible. At best, we will become friends and do some more activities/trips together. At worst, we'll have an interesting and memorable experience to talk about.

A little about me. I am in my mid-30s so you should be in your 20s or 30s also. I'm kind of a fun, sporty, outdoorsy person with some unique interests. I don't drink or smoke. I try to be open-minded.

If interested, please tell me about yourself and any ideas you might have. I have some too as well. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I am a straight guy if that matters to anyone.
