Full-time seasonal International Proxy Research Analysts

SUMMARY
Glass, Lewis & Co., the leading independent investment research and proxy advisory firm based in San Francisco, is currently seeking to hire a team of full-time seasonal research analysts. Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate strong analytical writing skills as well as the desire and ability to learn quickly.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
As a member of our Proxy Paper research team, you will analyze company filings and recent news events, summarize their proposals, and offer voting recommendations to our clients—some of which include the world's largest institutional investors. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the intricacies of the corporate structure, to research publicly-traded companies including their executives and managers, and to work at the forefront of the emerging corporate governance field in light of the recent credit crisis that has directly impacted companies such as AIG, Bear Stearns and Washington Mutual. This will be a particularly valuable experience for those wishing to pursue careers or graduate study in law, business, and public policy, among others.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Native-level reading skills in Japanese are required, as well as excellent English writing skills
• Strong analytical writing skills
• Strong research skills (with emphasis on qualitative analysis)
• Ability to process information quickly and accurately with careful attention to detail
• Ability to comprehend and summarize complex subjects
• Must work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines
• Proficiency in PC environment
• Willingness to learn
• Genuine interest in economics, finance, public policy, corporate law, and governance is helpful
• Desire to work in a fun, fast-paced atmosphere with other bright people is a must!

This is a full-time, temporary position. Employment will begin in February 2010 and continue through mid June. We will provide an introductory training session to acquaint analysts with our firm's standards of research.
This is a non-exempt position. The compensation is $15/hour.
