Community Nonprofit Seeks Part-Time Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

Mountain Community Resources (MCR) is a family resource center that has been helping community members in the San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley since 1982. MCR offers a network of educational programs, referrals, and social services to individuals and families to help people thrive.

The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is responsible for coordinating MCR’s emergency preparedness program including providing database management and administrative support.

Responsibilities include:
• Work with staff, volunteers and outside agencies to meet the requirements of MCR’s emergency preparedness programs and contracts.
• Maintain emergency preparedness written materials including emergency procedures, handbooks, training manuals and brochures.
• Provide administrative support to SLV Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) programs in training their volunteers. Includes preparation and filing of required reports and maintenance of the database.
• Provide administrative support to the San Lorenzo Valley Emergency Network (SLVEN) including participating in outreach activities (i.e. distributing information at community events, attending disaster preparedness fairs.)
• Assist outside agencies in the dissemination of disaster and emergency advisory information.
• Support and contribute to a culturally diverse and sensitive environment.

Requirements:
• Experience working with data and databases
• Strong time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Strong writing skills and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure
• CERT certification or willingness to attend CERT training course

Desired qualities/skills:
• Knowledge of community disaster preparedness programs
• Amateur radio operator’s license
• Familiarity with Santa Cruz County social service agencies and networks
• Experience in a non profit or human service agency is a plus
• BA/BS degree or college level coursework preferred


This is an 8-hour/week, non-exempt position. Pay range is $15.00 – $16.00/hour.
