This colony, which was dug from next to my patio, now resides in a bucket with a removable cover/screw cap. It might make an interesting observation hive if put into a wooden box with a Plexiglas end--I can supply the Plexiglas--for a science camp or ?? If nobody wants it, I'll relocate it to some nice spot in the hills where the critters can go about their business of scavenging dead material and harassing various other (usually plant-eating) insects.

I might be able to assist in the relocation of this hive for someone who is serious about wanting it for a good purpose.

For those who don't know, these 'social' insects excavate a hole such as from a gopher and build a paper-like nest with internal sections filled with cells, somewhat like the interior of a honey bee nest. It starts off with one queen who does all the work at first, building the first cells in a hole she finds and laying eggs which she cares for until they become workers and can assume her building and scavenging duties.

I'm moving out of Santa Clara and up to Oakland with my girlfriend, so I have to get rid of my two biggest pieces of furniture.

Bed:
Sturdy wooden construction (large bolts, no IKEA crap), includes mattress and under-mattress-board-thing. Very clean, no stains, etc. I'll even disassemble it for you and help you put it in your car.

Couch:
Beautiful and VERY comfortable shiny grey cloth couch. Also very clean, and no wear on anything. I'd take it with me but I'm moving by car and don't have a way to get it up to Oakland.

Need to move this stuff soon.
