The bathroom is a tub with a shower and a view of the forest if you're tall.
The living room has three recliners and a queen size hide-a-bed. It also includes cable TV, VCR/DVD, stereo/CD, games and magazines. The electric fireplace is ready for ambiance. The view is across the lake and the trees. The home is heated and cooled by forced air.
Lakemont Pines lake is directly across the street from our home. It offers sandy beaches, paddle boat rentals, playground, snack bar, fishing, swimming and non motorized boating lake with a lifeguard on duty in summer months. The use of the lake is maintained by membership tags and is available for your use.
Activities in the surrounding national forests include fishing, hiking among ancient redwoods, mountain biking on established trails, rafting on the Stanislaus river and canoing on crystalline lakes. Among other attractions of the area are the famous Moaning and Mercer Caverns, historic Gold Rush towns, winery tours, several golf courses, as well as swimming, boating, fishing and water skiing on the Lake New Melones reservoir.
Within or about a half an hour drive:
- walking distance to the Big Trees Recreation Center to 2 sparkling swimming pools attended by life-guards, tennis, basketball, and ping-pong.

Our house is conveniently located near many year round activities. Skiing, swimming, hiking, camping, wine tasting, and gold country exploration, are all within a short drive away. Bear Valley ski resort is nearby and is known as a family-friendly, low-key, lower-cost resort, which offers downhill and cross country skiing for all skill levels.
We’ve a gorgeous 4-bedroom/3.5-bathroom, split-level home for rent. It has a fabulous Calaveras River and expansive hilltop views, in a private, one-of-a-kind setting. Beautiful beam ceilings, efficient pellet stove and flagstone floors (family room) and a combination of hardwood floors (living room, dining, stairs and landing) and plush carpet (in the four bedrooms) for you to sojourn and enjoy. Three discrete redwood balconies circle the top level of the home furnishing nearly a 360-degree view of the surrounding country. The wrap-around deck about the swimming pool is also a good place to repose after a day’s activity and drink in the rustic grandeur that abound the home: the mountains, a plethora of birds (including a flock of wild turkeys), deer and other animals, and the lap of green and a carpet of flowers along the foothills (during the winter and spring seasons, golden grass during the summer), the drooping mature oaks, the free form in-ground Geremia pool, the 20-by-20-foot covered gazebo and fenced garden with sprinklers and drip irrigation.
The sound of the river is hypnotic, lulling you to readily fall asleep at night or in the afternoon (for a siesta), swim in or fetch fish for your evening meal from it.
It is located 115 miles North-East from San Francisco-Bay Area, about the same distance from Lake Tahoe, 75 miles from Sacramento and 25 miles from Stockton.
Besides the local beauty one can enjoy, there is a lot to see and do in the greater Calaveras County. These range from the historic and picturesque gold rush towns to the great foothill vineyards and taste rooms, microbreweries and pubs to the eclectic art galleries, antique shops and gold rush museums and the Heavenly Valley snow ski resort which is about 1 hour away.
Then there are the natural wonders: the hundreds of limestone and crystalline-filled caves and caverns–-many that you can explore on your own but there are also public ones (cave city, mercer and moaning caverns being examples), the abundance of lakes and reservoirs (some of which are listed below), Big Tree and Stanislaus Natural Forests and ski resorts (such as Bear Valley which is about an hour away). You can enjoy different activities at all seasons–-winter and summer sports, hike and bike, go gold-panning or horseback riding, fishing and boating as well as enjoy a round of golf on professional courses laid out along canyon ridges in the pines or among 200 year old oaks in rolling hills.

Water views and funs: The Calaveras County in general and the Central Sierra Foothills in particular are blessed with a great number of beautiful lakes and reservoirs. Here are selected examples:
HOGAN RESERVOIR – A 10-minute drive from the house covers 50 miles of shoreline and is surrounded by oaks, manzanita and chamise. It’s open all year round and contains campgrounds, day-use and picnic areas as well as launch ramps for boats and a marina.
Lake Camanche - a 15 minute drive from the house is located at the western side of the Sierra-Nevada foothills. It’s a sprawling aqua mass, covering 53 miles of shoreline, and bounding 12 square miles of water at a depth of 150 feet. It’s pleasantly calm and beautiful to behold with it’s backdrop of the rolling hills and the sky-touching mountains beyond. Lake MELONES – A 30-minute drive from the house, Lake Melones has more than 100 miles of shoreline and is hugged by oak-studded foothills and rugged river canyon cliffs and is the located between Senora and the historic, gold-mining town of Angels Camp. It’s a great place for boating, fishing, and camping, if you don’t have your own, you can rent patio or house boats for an afternoon excursion or week-long enjoyment. LAKE TULLOCH –Located south of Valley Springs, at distance of 38 miles from the house, Lake Tulloch contains great shoreline with many alcoves, stunning table mountain ranges with a spare population of mature oak trees. This lake is purported to offer one of the best waterskiing lakes in California. As in all the others, the surrounding lake area offers picnic and camping grounds as well as fire pits.

Forest Meadows Townhouse on First Fairway just outside of Murphys California. Murphys is a small resort town with great places to eat, wineries, art galleries etc. It's called the Carmel of the Sierras.

We privately own a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom condo in the Luxury Resort - Casa del Mar.
Casa del Mar has several pools some with swim-up bars and an adult pool that is ocean side for the ultimate relaxation. There are several different dining options at Casa del Mar, you can grab a bite by the pool, or enjoy the excellent El Tampanco Restaurant, or you can dine with your feet in the sand at the Mezquite Grill for an unforgettable dinning experience. There's also the El Maguey Bar where you can have a drink on the patio, play pool, or catch a game.
Our condo is ground floor and is steps off the patio to the perla pool, which is one of the more private pools. You can have your own drink or snack right out by the pool. The condo has a large bedroom with a king bed in the master and there is a queen sofa sleeper in the living area comfortably sleeping four. Sugar Pine Point State Park is one mile away for biking, exploring , hiking and visiting the historic Ehrman mansion on the edge of the Lake. The Lakeside Bike Path runs less than a block from our house, and you can bike up to Tahoe City and beyond to Squaw Valley, or south to Sugarpine Point State Park. We have several bikes for you to use in the shed in the back yard.
Meek's Bay beach and Emerald Bay are a short drive, and don't forget to float a raft down the beautiful Truckee River during your stay.
For extra sleeping accomodation there is a queen sofabed in the living area, The dining table seats eight and there are four barstools at the island breakfast bar. There is also a large deck off the living area for BBQs(gas grill available in winter, too.)

The house is locxated in Agate Bay, between Squaw and Northstar for skiing. If the snow is not here yet, this is a great place to spend a beautiful Fall weekend hiking the nearby woods and sightseeing around the Lake. Come home to a huge HOT SPRINGS Spa under the stars in the back yard. There are lots of board games and books to occupy the kids.
The dining table seats 10 for turkey dinner. OR make reservations at Gar Woods restaurant down at the lake, 2 blocks away.
