This job is located at PayPal's headquarters in San Jose, CA.
Provide leadership on Consumer, Marketing, and Funding Mix to business units, product management, development and operations peers, on business critical and emerging high visibility projects and issues to conceive, architect, design world-class technical solutions to extremely complex problems that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability, and time to market.
Drive technical designs to consensus and approval as a leader within PayPals cross-functional technology team. Contribute to setting strategic technical direction with PayPals enterprise architecture group, and lead Consumer, Marketing, Funding Mix alignment with enterprise technical strategy. Drive change within the technology organization and participate in development of industry standards. Represent eBay to external entities.
Rapidly master and utilize eBay and leading-edge technologies to innovate creative solutions and solve challenging technical problems. Demonstrate ability to identify, define, create, and apply new eBay patterns and standards to extremely complex problems. Research, assess, and recommend external technologies and products for their applicability to complex project requirements and contribute to the development of new company concepts. Build prototypes and convince businesses of the benefits of the new technologies.
Identify and mentor critical engineering talent, identify and recruit technical leaders into the organization. Train and mentor other developers.

An advanced degree in computer science or a closely related field
Demonstrated experience with large-scale software development, OLTP systems, and/or high-volume websites and web services
Experience in the payments or ecommerce industry
Fluency in C++ and Java
Experience in Consumer oriented product development and Marketing Technologies.
