The Role:

The Netflix Network Operations Center (NOC) Manager is the person responsible for managing our 24/7 NOC team that is responsible for operating, maintaining, automating and enhancing the production environment that drives our business. The NOC team touches every system at Netflix, from the corporate email servers to the website and all its associated systems and databases. This includes our Watch Instantly movie delivery infrastructure with it’s associated partnerships: LG, Roku, Microsoft Xbox, and PS3. In addition the NOC is responsible for communicating all production issues to internal groups, as well as external partners and their Operations Centers. The NOC team is also responsible for identifying improvements in our operations that drive higher uptime and excellent service levels for our customers.

Responsibilities/Impact:

We are looking for an individual with experience leading a high-performance 24x7 production operations group. You will have deep technical experience and ability. Your particular talents will include understanding how to work with engineering teams to take on support for new systems and applications, how to create and define appropriate monitoring and documentation, and how to automate everything possible in the operational environment. You will be a great leader who knows how to create and maintain a cohesive, capable and talented 24x7 team.

Required skills and attributes:

  • Ability to hire, train, and grow an outstanding team
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • At least 5 years experience leading a 24x7 IT/Ops support team
  • Demonstrated ability to support a 4-nines or better environment
  • Experience in a production NOC for a large Internet-based business
  • Ability to drive an outage recovery process and act as a Crisis Manager
  • Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional team environment that includes Developers/SAs/DBAs/etc.
  • Software deployment and troubleshooting experience
  • Strong UNIX and Windows background
  • Networking experience
  • Ability to manage 3rd party and partnership NOC relationships
  • Experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) a plus
