Job: Network Engineer

Reports to: Director of Engineering Services

Required Skills:
# Very strong knowledge of current networking systems including routers, switches, , VPNs
# Comprehensive knowledge of L2 technologies-VLANs/VLAN tagging, Spanning Tree, Etherchannel, port-channels, trunk ports VTP.
# Comprehensive knowledge of L3 technologies-IP Subnetting, IP routing, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS, VRRP
# Very strong knowledge of MPLS applications: L3 VPN and VPLS.
# Deep familiarity with Cisco IOS, Cisco IOS-XR and CatOS
# 10+ years of experience configuring and deploying Cisco network hardware and software.

Platforms Skill requirements:
Hardware: ASR-9010, 6500, 7600,
Software: IOS, IOS-XR, CatOS
scripting: shell, perl, python

Responsibilities:
1. Document deploy and maintain network infrastructure in support of Service provider operations for customers requiring high uptime, and rapid disaster recovery capability.
2. document, deploy and migrate a Intervlan routed network using EIGRP.
Develop EIGRP to ISIS migration plans to support MPLS based appplications.
3. Troubleshoot network environment in a multi-customer, multiple-geography, multiple physical layer WAN backhaul using proprietary routing protocols and network management tools in support service provider environment.
4. Document, deploy and maintain a Layer 2 and Layer 3 dynamically routed, highly available and fault tolerant network
5. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior, intermediate, and senior members of the technology staff, assisting them in their technical and professional development.
6. Qualify, troubleshoot, and verify vendor claims regarding new routing, switching, and security hardware and software in preparation for vendor selection for our clients.
7. Engage OEM Engineering organization on behalf of clients to support the design, deployment and operations for clients network.
8. Act as Level-2 escalation point for clients network related incidents.

Qualifications:
# A minimum of ten years of IP-based networking experience
# Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
# Advanced Cisco certification (such as CCVP, CCNP, CCDP, etc.) is a requirement. A CCIE is preferred

Travel requirements: Upto 50% travel required

Sunnyvale Office: Office hours required.
