FASHION MARKETING & MANAGEMENT INSTRUCTORS - Art Institute of California

The Art Institute of California- Sunnyvale is seeking part time instructors. Ideal candidates are professionals in their field who embrace a culture of learning and value ongoing professional development.


Requirements:
• Master’s degree preferred. (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree must be in a related area). Bachelor’s degree REQUIRED.
• A strong understanding of current professional technologies and programs.
• Must demonstrate strong written communication and oral presentation skills.
• Previous teaching or presenting experience preferred.
• Adobe Photoshop, illustrator and In-design software experience strongly desired


Fall Quarter Coursework in the Fashion Marketing Programs includes:

Fundamentals of Advertising, Course Description: This course is a basic introduction to advertising, its history, potential and limitations. We will examine various definitions of advertising and different methods of communication, as well as the advertising spiral, advertising objectives, advertising copy, and federal regulations. In addition, we will look at how advertising has changed over the years and been affected by the culture that has produced it. Learning about the major events, trends, and influences on advertising will help the student place current events in context and help nourish the student’s understanding of the possibilities of various types of ads and advertising campaigns. The course will also help the student recognize emerging trends and capitalize on them.
Computer Software skills (preferred): Adobe Photoshop, illustrator, In-design

Business Management, Course Description: Introduces students to the world of the manager; the knowledge needed, the process of managing and the “adjusting to change” ability necessary in modern business.



Retailing, Course Description: This class provides an overview of the retail environment. It examines and addresses basic terminology and concepts related to retail trends, traditional and non-store retailing, operations and planning. Instructor should have Retail Management experience or experience as a buyer or a merchandiser.


History of Fashion I, Course Description: The study of the development of clothing of clothing from ancient times to the 17th century. A project based on historical fashion research will be completed for a final project.


Future courses available: Fundamentals of Marketing, Public Relations & Promotions, In-House promotions


Classes are offered from 4 to10 hours per week depending on the course, with sessions generally running 8-12 noon, 1-5 pm, 5:30-10:30 and 6-10pm. The position may include both lecture and studio courses. Certified copies of transcripts will be required at time of hire.

Positions are available beginning in January, but new classes start throughout the year
