This position is in the eBay Legal Department Commercial, Compliance & Product Group. The role will involve negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts for the eBay.com business (involving marketing, content licenses & distribution, advertising, services, inbound and outbound licenses, promotions/sweepstakes, etc.), and providing related commercial advice. Additional responsibilities will include product review and compliance counseling on legal matters pertaining to the operation of an internet-based commercial business.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have significant prior experience negotiating a wide variety of contracts in the internet space, including the following categories of relationships: content license and distribution agreements, advertising agreements, online and offline marketing transactions, merchandising/ user interest efforts (promotions, sweepstakes, contests, etc.), licenses (inbound and outbound), integrated partnerships, and service contracts.
The ability to proactively identify relevant business and legal issues in agreements and to recognize the interplay between a contract and the overall web site and business are key to success in this role. A strong solutions-focus and aptitude for working effectively on cross-functional teams and projects are also important. The candidate must have the ability to work independently to conclude projects in the best interest of the company. Additional criteria for success include:
