The Art Institute of California- Sunnyvale is seeking part time instructors. Ideal candidates are professionals in their field who embrace a culture of learning and value ongoing professional development.
Requirements:

Bachelor degree in a related area is REQUIRED (Master’s degree is highly desired).
A strong understanding of current professional technologies and programs.
Must demonstrate strong written communication and oral presentation skills.
Previous teaching or presenting experience preferred.
AutoCAD proficiency required
NCIDQ® Certificate strongly desired


Areas requiring instructors include:

Introduction to Auto CAD
This course introduces the student to the use of AutoCAD software to set up drawings using lines, circles, arcs and other shapes, geometric constructions, layering, and text. Students use display and editing techniques to obtain information about their drawings and work with drawing files.

Construction Documents and Details 1 & 2
CDD1: 22 hrs Lecture/22 Hrs Lab. This course expands upon the competencies developed in Architectural Detailing. Content includes a partial set of construction drawings. An advanced study of the materials and fabrication techniques involved in the design and construction of interior details and how these details are communicated in the documents package. Content includes cabinetry, ceiling, walls, and millwork. Students will produce a set of contract documents for commercial interior spaces.
CDD2: This course expands upon the competencies developed in Architectural Detailing and Construction Documents and Details I. Content includes a comprehensive set of construction drawings. Students will produce a set of construction drawings for their Thesis Project.


Building Construction and Systems
22 hrs Lecture/22 Hrs Lab. This course studies the nature of mechanical equipment in reference to interior spaces. Electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing are studied by examining the concepts and theories of indoor air quality, acoustics, lighting applications, and calculations. Sustainable “Green Design” concepts will be employed to determine the most environmentally sound solutions to mechanical and electrical systems. Prerequisite: Architectural Drafting

Positions are available beginning in January, but new classes start throughout the year.
The Art Institute teaches on a quarter system, with additional classes starting mid-quarter. Classes are offered from 4 to10 hours per week depending on the course, with sessions generally running 8-12 noon, 1-5 pm, 5:30-10:30 and 6-10pm.
