I am organizing a new co-ed adult softball team for gay and gay friendly people. No experience required just a willingness to learn! If this sounds interesting to you and you�re looking to meet new people in your area and have a great time doing so then this may be a great opportunity for you. We are looking for individuals or couples that may have played softball before in high school or just like playing the game.

The team will be apart of the:

Silicon Valley Softball League (SVSL) is the first league of its kind in Santa Clara Valley to provide an athletic, recreational, and social opportunity to gay and lesbian people of the greater San Jose area as well as gay-friendly players, through participation in organized softball league competition.

The team will be practicing once during the week and playing games on Thursday anytime between 6:40-10:00pm. Players need to be committed for the season, drama free, and willing to be apart of a team. This team is in the �D� division. Practices will begin in January (weather permitting). Games will be played at Twin Creeks in Sunnyvale. Season starts up in March/April. Cost is $80 to cover the spring seasons; due in March.

Here is a good test� When you are searching the book table/rack for a new book to read, do you scan for those with prize seals such as the Pulitzer, Man Booker, PEN/Faulkner awards? Not that every book I read has these, but a lot of them do, and they are typically not displayed in the same section with popular fiction.

What I don't understand is why craigslist don't take their ads down because they clearly violate the following terms of use

Basketball players wanted- Sunday gym (mountain view)

We are a group of guys who rent a gym in Mountain View to play basketball Sunday afternoons. We play full court and are fairly competitive. We've been short players lately and are looking for a few extra players to join our group to make sure we have at least 10 every Sunday. Costs are basically $11 per drop in (1.5 hours) or a discounted rate if you pay for more times up front. If you are looking to play some basketball with a relatively skilled group, if you play well with others, and maybe if you're looking to make some new friends, then shoot me an email. I am the organizer of a group of people that practices and plays baseball all year round. I am looking for people who are serious about practicing and playing at least once a week. Help train first-time half-marathon runners and walkers (sunnyvale)

We're seeking 3-5 volunteers to help train 25 first-time half marathon runners and walkers. Volunteers will help conduct:

* track workouts
* setup and man waterstops on long runs
* course sweeps
* off-day workouts (eg buddy run, boot camp)

This is a new program benefiting the American Heart Association called "Start Training". You will help form the culture and plan the activities of this brand new South Bay training program. As part of staff, you will not be required to fundraise for AHA, however it would be wonderful if you do.

Most runs will be at popular South Bay tracks and trails. You will have a chance to get in your own workout too.

If you have a favorite running or running-related workout, we could incorporate it as an off-day workout.

Volunteers should be available for 2-hours twice during the week and 3-4 hours on a Saturday.

Timeline: Now (planning), January 2010 (start training), April/May 2010 (goal event). Goal event is either American River Parkway Half Marathon in Sacramento 5/1/2010 or the Santa Cruz Half Marathon 4/11/2010.

Home poker game this Thursday, stop paying $5 rake!! (San Jose)

Do you play in Bay 101, Garden City, Lucky Chances, etc? Do you feel abused by the $5 rake they

are taking... How about when all the blinds just call and you have $5 in the pot instead of $10,

or if you raise on the button to steal the blinds you're risking $15 to win $3 instead of $8?

So how much do you end up paying to play the game you love? Let's do some quick math... most

dealers will deal about 25 hands an hour, or roughly you'll see 3 rounds every hour. So, 9 players

at the table are paying 25 x 5 = 125/hr, or $14 bucks per hour.

Say you buy in for $100, and you sit at the table and play for 4 hours. Let's assume you didn't

loose any money, and still have about $100 after 4 hrs of play. If you didn't have to pay the rake,

you should have about $150 in chips, a 50% gain! I'm sure some of you have played 8, 10 or even 15 hrs

and bought in for $150. After 10hrs of play, you've paid the club $150 in rake, or essentially

stacked off to the casino!!

Anyhow, you get my point. The rake is eating us alive. So I'm looking to start a NL Hold'em cash

game, for like minded people. Looking for professionals, from 20's to 40's. No grandpa's please.

welcome, but please no kids under gambling age.. I don't want to get in trouble with your parents

or law enforcement.

I will host the game, in my house - plenty of parking, and I have a big dining table with comfortable

chairs. It's nice house in a safe neighbourhood, and I have some house rules:

1. Take off shoes, please be clean, and able to speak English - this is a serious game, but it's also

social and fun. I don't want to have a group of people sitting all serious and silent. Don't wear

sunglasses - this is not a high stakes game, and we want to see your eyes when we talk to you -

it's just not polite.

2. Please be respectful. No crying about bad beats, I will not tolerate any steaming towards other

players just because you got a bad beat.

3. No food, smoking, drinking, drugs, etc. If you want to smoke you can step outside, I will also

offer beer, but not at the table (don't want to make a mess)

4. No rake - EVER! Well, ok, we might hire a dealer some time in future, and in that case everyone

will pay a flat fee for the dealer. Otherwise, we'll select a couple of people who can deal fast and

the winner will tip the dealer $1.

5. The main purpose of the game is to have fun, learn the game, and socialize. I'm looking for cool,

chill folks who can take a bad beat with a smile of the face - remember, in the long run, we'll all

get lucky about the same amount of time, so pls. don't sweat too much if you got a bad beat or suckout,

it makes the bad player feel bad about it and not make the same mistake again (bad for the good players)

6. Please do not raise your voice at other people. Don't call any players names like 'donk', 'sucker',

etc. Be Polite, be mature! Don't celebrate your wins by screaming 'YES!!' and pumping your fist. This

makes the other guy on the loosing end feel bad.

Game rules:

We do not have a floorman, and I as the game host will be enforcing the rules. Please do not argue

with my decisions, unless you're in the hand with me, then you can argue all you want. I will enforce

good poker etiquette to a certain extent. This is not a casino and such it's a friendly game, so don't

ask me to enforce some stupid rules like the cards touched the muck and the hand is dead, or player

turned over one card and not other, etc. Here's a list of rules, subject to change if majority of players

do not like them - I will not list all the rules, but rather what's different from the casino game.

1. Table talk - You can talk all you want if you're in the hand. You can influence your opponents with

what you say, but pls. no begging to fold, no crying about potential bad beat, etc.

2. No show one show all rule, unless the player who you show your cards to is in the hand.

3. If all the players are 'ALL IN', we turn the cards over. This makes it exciting for the spectators.

Side bets and props ARE ALLOWED!! Insuarence is ALLOWED.

4. If 2 players are 'ALL IN', you may agree to run the hand twice or three times! Yes, just like in

'High stakes poker'!

5. Who should show their hand first? The rule is that the caller will show their hand last. However,

it is good etiquette that if you have a great hand or a hand that most likely should win, you show it

first. You may never ask to see the loosing hand - but, you may request to see the winning hand, only

one time for the session.

6. Minimum buyin and short stack play - I mostly discourage playing very short stack, especially when

someone brings like $100 to the game and buys in for $20 at a time, and then "pushes" all in preflop.

This ruins the game for others. So the minimum buy-in will be 40BB, if it's a 1-2NL then that's $80 bucks.

So please bring enough to avoid running to the ATM. We will, however, allow just ONE short re-buy after

you bust out.

7. Max buyin: $2Mill... just kidding ;) OK, we don't want someone to buyin for like $1000 and run over

the table. So, the max buyin will be 200BB. The only exception to this rule is that if someone else on

the table has more than 200BB, in which case you buyin to match that.

8. $1 will be taken from pots over $10 for the highest hand jackpot (if players agree)

9. When more than 10 people show up, the first one to bust out will yield their place to new player.

These rules can be changed with a vote. The host will have veto power, but if more than 2/3 of players

don't like some rule I'm not going to be an ass about it.

Tentatively looking to play on weekday nights from 7:30pm ~ late and possibly some weekends. Bring

your A-game!

Paintball anyone? (san jose north)

Hello all,

I just started playing paintball again after a ten year break. I played a few weeks ago in Los Gatos at a place called Los Gatos Pursuit/Bear Creek Paintball Field in the Santa Cruz mountains. I had forgotten how fun paintball could be and what great cardiovascular exercise you get from running up and down forested hillsides. Anyways, I am relatively new to the area and don't have a group of "paintball" friends just yet. I would like to develop onc, hence this posting. Please reply if you would like to start or already do play paintball and would like to come out to play in the future (likely after Thanksgiving). I will use the responses to create an e-mail list and hopefully we can all meet out there and have a great time. I plan on playing every other week. If there is enough interest, I'll set-up a group on "meetup.com". If you reply, please include your name, age, paintball experience and any other info you think is relevant.

In case you were wondering, Los Gatos Pursuit Paintball was very well run. The referees were very nice and professional. The players were very nice. A few self-equipped players, but mostly "rental" players. A few families and "birthday party" groups. Cost is $45 for everything you need (gun, mask, air, paintballs, harness). I hope this doesn't sound like a plug for this field, but it's the only one I've been to in Nor Cal.

Junior Archaeologist Program at Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum! (san jose west)

Calling all adventurers! The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum has introduced its new Junior Archaeologist training program for young adventurers ages 5 to 17. This program includes behind the scenes training, hands-on learning opportunities, and the most fun graduation ceremony this side of the Nile!

Once the training is completed, the new Junior Archaeologist qualifies to lead a museum tomb tour for family members and friends, with his or her name posted in the Museum Welcome Center while they are on duty. They will also receive an official Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum Junior Archaeologist backpack and certificate.

Museum Director Julie Scott says, �Over the past eight decades we have hosted hundreds of thousands of young people at our museum. Our hope is to inspire as many of them as possible to learn more about people from other cultures and other periods in history. Best of all, we think we have also managed to make this hands-on training program engaging and fun!�

Case labels and back stories are reconstructed by archaeologists, whose job it is to unlock the meaning behind their artifact treasures. You are an archaeologist. It is your job to seek and find a rare object in the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum's collection and share its story and significance in this project.

**MUSEUM MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE. Scholarships are available for sincere applicants who need financial assistance.**

Upon admittance to the program, participants will receive a Ra Card student ID. The Ra Card also serves as an activities marker. After completion of a workshop, tomb tour, or Artifact Quest, a staff member will initial the card in the allotted space.

On December 19th, we will have A Night in the Afterlife, an overnight graduation ceremony for those who have fulfilled all the above requirements. I host a regular low-stakes poker game, alternating between cash game and tournament, in Midtown San Jose (about 2 blocks from the Midtown Safeway at Meridian/San Carlos). We have a regular group of mostly 25-45 professionals and we are looking for a few more people for our Tuesday game. It's a cash game - .25/.50 No-Limit Texas Hold'em. Maximum buy-in is $40. Most people buy in for $20-40. There is no rake - all cash is paid out to players. Players rotate the deal. Im 23 years old, Male, 6ft tall in shape. I work as a night time bartender.
Ive been dancing sense i was 8 years old, mainly urban hip hop, salsa, bachata.
I am looking for a serious partner who loves to dance. Someone who is willing to practice atleast
3-5 times a week for 2-3 hours a day. i've been recently refocusing on my salsa skills for about 4 months now.

my ideal partner has to be in shape with good stamina. at least knows the basics of salsa and bachata.
around 21-25 years old, with a minimum height of 5ft7inch and of any race

I would like to work with someone with a universal goal to eventualy compete in future amateur salsa/bachata competition and or perform

Hey folks:

Lately after work it seems like I've come home, sat down and "vegged" out in front of the TV by myself - which of course is a habit that I want to avoid. So here's my solution, and in the process hopefully meet some cool people:

I'm a pretty good golfer, and I've got a good looking swing. I'm not a certified instructor, but I could probably find some people that would pay for my time. I am however a decently minded guy - and I don't feel like gouging someone. Thus am offering free golf tips or semi-involved lessons as long as you supply me golf balls to hit while were out there.

I'm imagining finding some stalls next to one another at a range where we can both hit and I'd chime in every few swings or so and have you work on something. Beginners are welcome too. So if you're interested, send me a little blurb about yourself including the progress of your golf game and the type of help you are looking for, and we'll go from there.

I would be most likely interested in doing this at the pruneridge range (since it's usually on my way home from work: 400 Saratoga Ave), however I would be heading there from Santa Clara, so really any place in the general area would be a potential too.
