Wanted: fixed, healthy older cat (Campbell or San jose)

Hello,
my brother recently put down his cat and he's ready to care for another. He is 19 takes online clases where the cat will sit on his lap when he sits down. He does work but they put him to work not so much (at night) so the cat would literally have someone around all the time! I'm still a student.
He doesn't like black black and white or tabby. His last cat was a siemese mix Not sure if it's spelt right that came to your door one day (no collar no micro)
I'll be willing to pay a small fee of 10, if your really looking for a good home for your older cat and not just sellin him.
We both decided an older cat would be best kittens are too much.
He/she will be mostly indoors but outside with me when I do my outside chores.(we will share the responsablities)
my father is always at work so he also thinks a cat for company would be good.

Must be fixed. Feral cats in the streets. Must be healthy...no nose discharge, hairloss, or un fed cats. I would like to surprise him for his birthday that is only 2 weeks away early presents are ok.

There are a total of 3 cats on my property. One is a friendly female adult cat and the two I think are her kittens which aren't too friendly. They are both boys because I tried to catch them to be put inside so I can tame them but they didn't like inside. Is there a foundation that fixes these cats for either free or really cheap. I'm honestly not much of a cat person but I try my best since they are a living animal, and with dogs and one of them going back and forth to the vet I really can't afford to fix them. I can provide them with food it's only about 10 bucks at walmart anyways. They eat fine but they are skinny I leave the whole bag open, they'll eat but won't get fatter.

I think the reason she was here is because people would come by an drop their cats to my neighbors house they probably ended up with 30 surrounding them. I guess since we gave her attention when she would come purring he decided to stay here. I just think it's wrong but here is probably better then where he was before. (I think they trapped most of them because I only see about 2 and no babies)

I would really like to keep her, the two boys not so much, they are still young and can be tamed but I just don't have that kind of time.

If you are a rescue and could help i would really appreciate it I would make a donation of food for you or I have a scratch post the kittens didn't liketo use.

I am moving to Canada in two weeks and though, I would rather bring my fish with me, I feel that it would be selfish to put them through the long drive. I would like to find someone who would take good care of them (not just as ornaments). You don't have to adopt them all, but please, I will make sure that you have the right tank for them and set the way it should. Very sweet and just loves to play with my two Labs 1 male and 1 female also 2yrs old. They all get along beautifully. She is looking for a forever home to call her own. Hello. I have a 5 month old kitten. She is very friendly. She gets along with dogs, other cats. She is house trained but only if she has a littler box around. She will pee in the house if there is not litter box inside. She is acclimated to being inside and outside. I have an apt for her to be spayed and vaccinated in January. I could not get an earlier apt and I really need a temporary or permanent home for her until she gets spayed. It is hard for me to keep her inside because we have other animals that rely on a cat door. I do not want her to get pregnant! Please email me back. Tell me about your experience with animals. saw a litle dog on the freeway off-ramp onto San Pablo Damn road in Pinole/El Sobrante area. It had a colar and tag. was very small, grey and white, maybe a toy Yorkie. I pulled over and tried to catch it with several other drivers. The dog was cowering under a car waiting at the light. We got the dog to come out, but it ran up the hillside away from the off-ramp. I didn't see where it got to after that.

Dogs, cats, and bunnies will be at PetSmart looking for new loving homes, thanks to Project Purr, the Santa Cruz Animal Welfare Coalition and Santa Cruz County Animal Services Authority. The "Home for the Holidays: Peace on Earth, Good Homes for Pets" events will take place in the Santa Cruz PetSmart at 490 River St. on Saturday December 5th and 12th from 12:00 to 3:00.

Rescued Santa Cruz County shelter animals, already altered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for re-homing, will be showcased inside the store for you to meet! This is a litter of puppies that my dog had back in March of 2005. I am desperately trying to contact the poeple who purchased any of these puppies from me. The dogs would now be 4 yrs and 7 months old. I recently discovered that I still have the registration paperwork on these dogs and feel that it is very important that the owner have this. I also would like to share photos, update my album, and share some of the history behind this beautiful bloodline.

Leo is a very special dog in need of a very special home. He came to the shelter with one missing eye and the other eye barely hanging in there and had to have emergency surgery to remove it.

If you meet Leo you wouldn�t know he�s blind! He�s so fluffy he looks like he�s giving you a squinty eyed look! He�s very sweet, gentle, friendly and affectionate. With his foster mom�s help he has nicely adjusted to not being able to see. His only challenge seems to be stairs, he�s a little afraid of them, so he�d love to go to a home where there aren�t stairs or where his family will be willing to carry him up and down the stairs.

Like most Pekingese he�s a very sensitive fellow and gets very sad when his special person is not around, ideally he wants to go to a home where his owner works from home or is retired and where he will be showered in love and attention. He will happily give back every ounce of love you give him!

Leo is already potty trained, he�s paper trained indoors but will happily go potty outside too. Although he�s okay around gentle kids he would prefer to go to a child-free home or a home with older children. Leo does great around other dogs and cats and wouldn�t mind so much sharing his owner with another dog.

She also very much resembles the late JFK Jr's dog and may have a little Cannan in her. She is a friendly little girl who gets along great with both adults and children. Dots loves her playtime just as much as she loves her cuddle time. She have been great with all other dogs she has met and loves to romp and play. When she is not out playing with her neighborhood buddies you can be sure to find her enjoying her storytime. Yep, that's right, she loves being read to. She curls up under the blankets with the foster children in her home and listens contently as they read her stories. Now who could ask for a sweeter dog. She has great house manners and rarely barks. While the euthanasia of animals is on the decline across the county, the pit bull population continues to grow, leaving more and more of these animals to languish in our shelters or be killed without ever knowing the warmth of a home or the love of a family.

There will never be enough homes in our community for the number of pit bulls and pit bull mixes and the only responsible solution to curbing this population is spay and neuter programs.

To qualify for this free service, you must:

Have proof that you live in Alameda or Contra Costa County. A current Driver's License or California ID with an Alameda or Contra Costa County address on it is acceptable.
Only owned pit bulls or pit bull mixes qualify for this program. No rescue groups, foster organizations, shelter animals or stray pit bulls will be allowed to participate.
Determining whether your dog is a pit bull or not will be at the sole discretion of our staff. Documentation of breed history can be provided, but the final decision will be ours. Dogs determined not to be pit bulls will be subject to our regular, affordable prices.
Only surgery related procedures are included for free. Vaccinations, medications, other treatments, microchipping and/or procedures are at the owners expense.
Appointments must be made for each dog you would like spayed or neutered and there can be up to a 4-6 week wait for an appointment.

He looks much more like a Bernese Mountain Dog mix to us. He has a beautiful wavy coat that is so soft you wouldn't believe. He is on the submissive side and will gladly give you his belly for a good rub. He also is a "leaner." If you're standing next to him he will surely lean on you for comfort and of course a good pat. Shelby our 1.5 year Italian Greyhound got out this afternoon when our landlord came to do maintenance on the home we are renting. She is grey with white markings on her chest that resemble the Italian boot. She is small approximately 9 lbs and she is loved very much by her family and her puppymate Grace.

Shelby went missing on 12/2/09 at approximately 230pm. Our home is on Brookdale Drive - the major cross streets are Lochnivar and Lawrence. She was not wearing her color as we had just groomed her yesterday and had not put it back on her - she is micro chipped though - so if you find her you can take her to any vet or the Humane Society and they will find us.

Quiet horse for lease (woodside)

With a new job keeping me busy I am looking to half-lease my horse. I am offering the price of a half-lease for full-lease access. I only have time to ride him once a week. He just turned 20 and needs some regular low-key exercise to keep him nimble.

BD is quiet and safe on the trails. He retired early from Eventing after showing what were thought to be navicular changes. However, BD has not been lame or shown any more changes at all over the past 5 years, even with some heavy dressage riding over that time. His current vet doubts his past lameness was due to navicular. The only thing that causes him to get sore is a lot of umping. He also needs to take his time going downhill. Other than that you wouldn't notice his age. He has done a lot in his life from working cattle to three-date eventing. He's currently enjoying a life of quiet trail riding. BD is very sweet and will bond to you quickly if you treat him well.

I am looking for someone interested in trail riding or doing light dressage work with him. BD has been a special member of our family for over 17 years; we're looking for someone who will handle him with care.

Super kid-friendly dog, Kusa, is looking for a home where she can shine as the loving, kid and cat friendly companion she is. In my home she is sadly always held back by my other dog, Biscuit. In fact even at the park, poor Kusa is thwarted in her efforts to run and play by the much more alpha and snarky Biscuit. After several years of trying to modify the dynamic I am giving in to the reality of these two dogs under the same roof. Since Kusa loves everyone, is great with kids, cats and other dogs and Biscuit is neurotic, scared of kids, cats and her shadow and is bonded to me more than her own soul, I figure it's probably Kusa who needs to find a new home.

Kusa is almost 5 years old. She's about 40 lbs. She is a small Border Collie/Lab mix. I had her originally as a foster pup and then decided to keep her because of her amazingly sweet disposition. (Ironically, I got Biscuit to be her companion once I decided to keep Kusa.) It makes me really sad to think of Kusa leaving but I know that it is the only fair thing to do for her because she just isn't that happy living under Biscuit's "thumb" and if either of them could resettle into a new home it would be Kusa. It would be ideal if she was adopted by someone living in the city so I could easily arrange visits but I would definitely want to be able to occasionally see her no matter where in the bay area she ends up. And she comes with built in doggie-care for your out of town trips!!

She has long black fur and she does shed, but she loves being brushed and that both keeps her coat looking great and dramatically reduces the shedding. She is very well trained already, and super eager to learn more. If you have an 8 year old who likes dogs and wants to do some agility training or such, Kusa would think that was the best thing since dried liver treats! Got a toddler who wants to suck on a ear and explore nostrils? Kusa is the picture of small child tolerant (of course one should always supervise small children with any dog and should insure that children are gentle even from a very young age, but you get the point).

There is an "adoption fee": I will be asking for a minimum $125 donation made the rescue group that I originally adopted her from.

I am in no rush to "get rid of" Kusa. It has been a hard decision to come to, but I just know that there is a home out there that she would be so much happier in. I will want to do a home visit and follow up visit and Kusa will come with an absolute "money-back guarantee". If you think this great dog might be a good fit for your family, please let me know.

Meet Frankie, a 7 month old lab/shepherd mix who was just flown in from the Bakersfield shelter. Frankie was relinquished to shelter by his previous owners for being too big for apartmart living. Poor guy, and the sad thing is he is not even that big! He is a little on the thin side but will probably be in the 30lb pound range at a healthy weight. Frankie is a sweet dog, who greets everyone with a wagging tail. It seems he is house-trained and even knows some basic commands. He is great in the house and loves to lay at your feet. The animal shelter - what it's like inside (everywhere)

I volunteer there about twice a week - on my days off from work for 3 or 4 hours each time. I spoke to the staff who work there about euthanasia. They have to put down about 15 to 20 dogs per week - mostly because the dogs will never get adopted. About 80% of the dogs they put down are pits or have pit in them. Very few are dangerous - in fact, it is rare to have to put down an animal because it is dangerous. The cold reality is that nobody is ever going to adopt these poor animals and there are more coming in every day.

I walked through the dog areas - healthy friendly pits were everywhere. Mixed in were dogs from different breeds. I saw 2 small dogs together in one cage - like the fluffy little ones people are always breeding and selling here on CL for hundreds of dollars - they looked bewildered and afraid. There is always a terrific racket going on - barking, wailing, mewling from the cats - the stench is omnipresent and very unpleasant. One gets used to it - sort of. I frequently gag and once went outside and puked. Many of the staff wear surgical masks and some even wear HEPA masks.

The staff at these places are a mix of paid city workers, full and part time, and volunteers. Some of the volunteers do anything and everything and some specialize in one type of animal or are members of rescue organizations.

These places are horribly understaffed and many of the employees are poorly paid but, even so, many are devoted to their jobs and the animals in their care. This is not glamorous work. Scooping excrement, washing, feeding, etc. Many take these jobs because of their love for the animals.
These people, in my opinion, are to be honored.
It is one thing to volunteer. We can come and go as we please. It is quite another to do this day after day.

The animals, after a little time spent at the shelter, lose much of their sparkle and become depressed and withdrawn. The dogs take it the hardest. At any moment you can hear them wailing away. As I walked through the dog rooms each dog comes rushing to the front of the cage hoping for some attention and contact. A large light brown male pit sticks in my memory. He was literally shaking with excitement to see a human. He looked like he was ready to explode. The whole room was a mass of conflicting barks and yelps - some of the staff wear ear muffs to drown out the noise. Unfortunately, there is nothing like this for the dogs. Another dog, with most of it's fur missing, yowled rhythmically and shivered. It sounded like a child crying. It went on for the whole time I was there.

I walked past the cat cages. A dozen paws in chorus reached out through the cages to touch something. There must be 100 cats at the shelter. Most will probably never leave this place alive.

There are rats and mice, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits - tons of rabbits in fact.

If you want to add some value to your life and the lives of these animals - volunteer at your local shelter. It is a huge gift to just sit with an animal or take one for a walk - one does not have to get down and dirty with cleaning to volunteer. If you can't own a pet you still can enjoy the presence of animals.

The shelter also needs people to foster animals in their homes. This alleviates overcrowding, gives animals a break from the shelter, and gives people a chance to see if perhaps they would like to adopt a particular animal permanently. It's a win-win situation.

AND, most importantly, shelters, and the animals in them, need people to adopt from here. Do not buy pets from pet stores or from people who breed animals as a sideline income from their homes. At least give several shelters a look-over and give a chance to these animals who have been waiting for so long to get back to a family who will care for them.

You state "No this was not planned." , but neither was the breeding of your two dogs prevented. That's just as bad as purposely backyard breeding them. The end result is the same.... more puppies needing homes! Just like the millions of dogs and puppies already here and in need of homes that more than half will never find. Take your puppy profits and get the parents spayed and neutered. If you can afford to care for two adult dogs AND raise a litter of puppies, you could have afforded to get one, if not both of the parents fixed in the first place!

Shiloh is a 7 month old shepherd mix who was just recently flown in from the Bakersfield shelter. He has a great medium super soft coat with beautiful soulful eyes. He is on the mellower side and loves to cuddle. He is currently living with another dog and doing great. When Shiloh finally got the chance to get out of crate after his long day of traveling, one of the first things he did was run to some nearby bushes to go to the bathroom. On Sept 26th 2009 in American Canyon two females were seen chasing our family dog down our block. One was driving a four door light colored vehicle while the other was chasing her. Diamond has not been found since. I have not given up on searching for her.

Diamond is under 5lbs, a red sable. She is scared of loud noises and trucks driving. At the time of her being taken, she was wearing her pink collar with three tags, her name and address, rabies tag and AKC tag. I'm sure they have been taken off by now.

We have two very sweet cats, a brother and sister, about 6 years old. The female is very shy, but is a total lap cat once she is comfortable. The male can also be a little bit shy at first, but will soon be running to greet you when you get home. Unfortunately, they have not adapted well to having a toddler running around the house, and we would like to find them a nice quiet home. They are indoor cats only. We will be very sad to let them go, but they are not happy in our newly chaotic household. She is all brindle (brownish) with white paws and a white stripe. She is very good with dogs, and children. She is ok with cats but doesnt understand them fully. She is very friendly and a very smart fas learner. She is very well behaved and is being trained and needs someone who is going to keep up with her training. She would be a great christmas present. Hi!

I'm looking for a new family for our dog. He's a 3 year old healthy Maltipoo. Because of our circumstances, we do not have the time/funds to get him ready to be shipped with us as we are relocating. I'm asking for a $150 adoption fee to ensure he goes to a good home. We've had him since February of this year and has been a great addition to our family. He has been around my 2 & 4 year old and has had no problems; although he would do best in a family with older kids. He loves to sit on your lap while you're watching TV and snuggle at the foot of your bed when you're sleeping at night. He's partially crate trained and pee-pad/house broken. If you take him out frequently enough he'll go for you outside. He would do best with a family where someone is home most of the time as he has separation anxiety. I also forgot to add that he has a great relationship with our cat. It took a few months for them to get to know each other but now they love to wrestle and play. AND, as you can see from the 1st picture he can run with the big dogs!!! He gets along with my 2 pitbulls and won't put up with no BS! =)

I will also send him home with a big bag of dog food, pet carrier, all of his clothing, collar and leash, comb, shampoos/toothpaste, and anything else I may have for have for him.

I have 2 dogs that need a home ASAP.... I have to move in w/ my elderly grandma and can't bring them with me. I ran out of time and they are at the Hayward Shelter at the moment...I have until Saturday to get them back and into a home before who knows what happens to them.

Toby is a 5 year old neutered Cattle Dog mix..he is very smart and knows various commands. He is crate trained although he is so good in the house that he doesn't need to be crated all the time.He is potty trained and he would be a good guard dog as he pays attention to all the goings on in the outside world although he is purely and inside kind of guy.

Spike is a 4 year old pure bred Pit Bull.He is hilarious to be around. He LOVES to sleep and hang out in warm places. His favorite place was laying in front of the wall heater. He also is crate trained and knows his basic commands. Both dogs are not dog aggressive, food agressive or anything like that. I have had them since they were a couple of months old and have taught them to be good guys.

In fact, when I had the chance to spend time with Marty recently, we bonded immediately. In fact, it was love at first sight. now that i caught your attention i am tired of going to the animal shelters and seeing mainly pit bulls in there they are great dogs one of the best breeds very obedient and loyal
if your pit bull or anyone you know owns a misbehaved pit bull please send me an email at ojismyfav@yahoo.com and i would be more than happy to help them discipline better there dog many cases i have seen the dog be neglected or just not being taken care of. properly, dogs are a big responsibility and training can be very expensive i am a dog owner myself and i love these dogs since i was very young so please help me save a breed by giving proper tips and help these dogs avoid being put to sleep or do harm to anyone or themselves this is a free service i do not charge anything or any fee i just want to change the image of pit bulls one person at a time

Tips for an aggressive dog
*Neuter it may be just what your male dog needs unfortunately it may suck to leave your special pet at a center all day
but it is necessary to reduce his energy and "urges" that can make him want to achieve male dominance in a home. some county's humane society's can give you a voucher or information on how to apply so you can get it done for less
*daily walks around the neighborhood will make your handful dog more familiar and acceptable towards people and other pets
*these daily walks will make your dog tired not to mention healthy and he/she will spend more time sleeping than destroying the furniture
*if you do not walk your dog around because he or she just drags you down the street i don't blame you for not wanting to walk them but there is hope and you CAN teach a dog to walk proper on his or her leash with out pulling i would not recommend a choker collar unless it is a sever and stubborn dog remember every dog has his or her own personality just like us practice commands and don't be scared to pull hard on that leash when he/she is pulling you as you get into a walking routine he/she will be more accustom and will walk perfectly along with you it all depends on the time you dedicate to your dog if you walk at least 30-45 min a day and don't give up they will
understand and be grateful for you taking your time to walk them
*chew bones are great FOR SINGLE HOME PETS it dulls there teeth and tires them out rather than destroy things
*chew bones will make more aggressive any dogs that live together they will fight for those dam chew bones and might really hurt each other so please reconsider
*MOST not all pit bulls should be a single home pet they are very jealous, fearful, dominate and don't like to share any of there toys or living space
if your concerned about seeking some companion ship walk them to a dog park get to know what kind of breed/sex/and size your pit bull feels comfortable with this is why shelters require to introduce to the new adoptee

I have several birds available, I would never do this normally but my son and his family have to move back in due to the economy and one of my grandkids have respitory issues so for his health I need to let my beloved birds go, especially since the birds are currently housed in the room the kids will be sleeping in. I have the following, I am not going to just let them go to anyone and my adoption fees are more than reasonable based on pet store prices, breeders and even some of the bird fairs. They are all healthy and on a well balanced diet. Cages are not available at this time.

Gouldian finch red headed, purple chest, green back 2 year old male, less then perfect feather condition, he has a feather on both sides of his body that stand out a bit but he has been like that since his first molt - $35

I am not interested in breeding them but I also do not wish to destroy the eggs, so they will not be available until December 15th at the earliest (eggs due to hatch then). Our Shelby got out of the yard today at around 2pm when someone came to work on the house... We live on Brookdale Drive in Santa Clara. She has been missing since around 2pm this afternoon. We have just moved into this area so she is not familiar with her surroundings.

She is an Italian Greyhound and VERY friendly. She is grey with a white marking on her chest that looks like the boot of Italy. She does not have a color on as we had just groomed her. She is microchipped so if you just drop her at a vet or the Humane Society they will find us.

kitten to good home (hayward / castro valley)

I have a female kitten, approx 4 months in age, she is Felv and Fiv negative as per a test at San Leandro Veterinary hospital and is currently going thru vaccinations there. I already have one other pet and am low income. It is difficult for me to support myself and both pets. Would like for her to go to a good home. If things do not work out I am willing to take her back. She has a dark tabby coloring with white and has white paws on both her hind and front legs. She is a medium lenth hair cat. You can either reach me or leave a message from 10am to 10pm at 475-- 0161. Please note there are six rings before the voicemail comes on but a very short outgoing message once it does. Also, I do not have a dsl connection from home so e-mail is checked about once every 3 to 6 days. The Lake County Animal Care & Control in Lakeport, CA is in desperate need right now for heating pads, humidifiers, and purifiers for ill animals. Also needed desperately are E-collars, the cone-shaped plastic collars placed on dogs so they can not get to an incision. Additionally, towels, blankets, canned and kibbels (for both cats and dogs) are very much needed.

If anyone has any to donate in Sonoma County, they can be picked up in Santa Rosa, Windsor areas and gotten up to the Lake County Animal Care & Control Animal Shelter.

1 yr old pet "dumbo rat" - needs a new home (santa cruz)

We got "checkers" a little over a year ago, she would make a great "first pet" for a child. Rats are smart (you can train them to do tricks); and they will come when you call them (like a dog); and they require minimal maintenance (change the cage bedding once a week and provide food and water). Checkers is very sweet and friendly; she even lets our 3 year old daughter carry her around. We got her as a trial "first pet" for our 11 year old daughter who has since lost interest in caring for her. We all agree that it would be better for checkers to find a good home where her new owner will give her the care and attention (holding her and exercise) she deserves. We have everything you will need (cage, bedding, food, and even a book on how to care for rats) and only ask a small adoption fee ($15) in return (in order to insure that she does not end up as "snake bait").
