Parenting Site Seeks Columnists: Especially Crafters & Parents! (redwood city)

Are you creative, energetic, full of ideas? Can you make a headline sing, whip up copy like nobody’s business, inspire readers to keep on reading? Maybe you're our next columnist or blogger!

Fully-funded startup seeks freelance writers to join our rapidly expanding team. You will report to the Editorial Department, crafting columns for a parenting and education portal for parents. We want people who love to write, who understand the Internet and like to use it, and can keep strict deadlines. Our site has only been live for a year, but already gets close to 1 million unique visitors per month. So lots of people will see your work.

We currently have two slots to fill: one is for someone to write a craft column, with weekly projects to do with kids that are inexpensive...whether it be homemade sparkle playdough, or making centerpieces for Thanksgiving. The other column topic hasn't been decided yet-- so pitch us your ideas. Perhaps you're a parent with a kid just starting kindergarten, a teacher with practical tips, a chef with ideas on cooking food kids will actually eat...

This is a work-from-home position, which will start with a contract for 12 columns. (To run weekly through the end of December.) When the new year begins, we'll be moving to a blog format. Assuming all goes well, there will be opportunity to make the switch with us.

PAY: $50 per column

Interested? We need to see samples of your work. To apply:

1) Please send in two sample columns of 300-400 words in length, written in a fun style.

2) PASTE YOUR WRITING SAMPLES DIRECTLY INTO YOUR EMAIL... No attachments please!

3) Please write “Columnist Position” as the subject line of your email.

Only candidates who send 2 column samples will be considered. Please do not send just a resume.
