Marketing Copywriter at Zecco – Burlingame, CA

Zecco (www.zecco.com) is a cutting-edge online trading company with an innovative investing community. We provide stock and options trading through our online discount brokerage Zecco Trading, as well as foreign exchange trading through subsidiary Zecco Forex.

We are seeking a contract copywriter with experience in financial services to help us communicate better with our customers. For this consulting role, we seek somebody who can:

• Write clearly and succinctly without broker-speak and legal mumbo jumbo
• Speak with a consistent, on-brand voice appropriate to the communication
• Monitor trends and rapidly create communications that put Zecco in the center of the online investment dialogue – and improve our SEO ranking

This is a consulting position that will require 20 hours per week during the first month, possibly becoming a permanent position, depending on workload and results. The position will report to the Director of Acquisition Marketing, and work extensively with our CEO.

Candidates should be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, so that we may consult with them at our headquarters office in Burlingame. Occasional travel to our customer service and operations center in Pasadena will be necessary. You should be available to start by December 1, 2009.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your role will be to plan, write, edit and optimize:
• Weekly blog postings from our CEO and collaborating writers
• Marketing & informational emails
• Campaign materials such as web banner advertisements and newspaper ads
• Web pages and landing pages
• Press releases
• Customer service communications, including call/chat scripts
• Educational material
• Customer surveys
• Forms
You may also be tasked with compiling a list of interested journalists, bloggers, and affiliated websites for individual attention.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Your skills & experience should include:
• 2-5 years of experience writing for marketing & educational purposes, with proven experience writing for online audiences
• Experience in the financial services sector, or extensive personal experience and understanding of stock & options investing
• Bachelor's degree required

And you should be:
• Knowledgeable of PR, the blogosphere, and social networking
• A self-starter – you are comfortable proposing and running with ideas independently
• Flexible and adaptable – we move quickly, and we can sometimes change our minds quickly!
• Detail oriented – we shouldn't catch any of your spelling errors!
