Hello-

I’m writing to invite you to be part of a service that my son and I will be providing to deserving families this holiday season: “Big Heart 4 Tiny Hands”.

As a parent, I feel we need to demonstrate to our young ones the importance of giving and the joy it can bring...I hope you can relate. These are trying times for many of us...I myself was out of job for 4 months, it really made me think of families that are still struggling. I encourage you to open your heart, be part of this service and help me put a big smile on a tiny face!

Slightly used donations are welcome, please make sure the items are not damaged or dirty, here is what you can donate:

Clothes (Newborn – 5T)

Baby Books

Toys (Small – Medium)

Dry / Canned Baby Food

Call me @ 415.341.2957 to make arrangements for a drop-off, if you’re local, I will gladly pick up your contributions for your convenience.

If you know of a family in need (local) or would like to add your church/community to my distribution list, please provide me with their name/contact information. Also, you can always contribute by spreading the cheer and passing this information to your family and friends!

Saturday, December 19th - last day to contribute.

Sunday, December 20th – need volunteers to help distribute all collected offerings.

I can also be reached via e-mail at nooriet@gmail.com.

*Please take note, no gift is too small…and all your contributions will go straight to homes that will deeply appreciate your kind gesture! I don’t belong to any organization and am facilitating this purely to add to the holiday spirit, I hope you will too!

The Padua Dining Room is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our patrons are the needy of the area of the North Fair Oaks community and nearby areas of Menlo Park, Redwood City, East Palo Alto, and unincorporated San Mateo County which include low-income families, elderly, homeless, and newcomers to the area. Many are working members of our community whose wages cannot cover the high cost of living in the Bay Area, especially when supporting a family. All are welcome and all are treated with utmost respect. We provide a multi-course meal to anyone, at no cost, and has been doing so for over three decades.

We currently need to recreate our website and/or create brochures that will be distributed to patrons, foundations, and/or potential volunteers. If you are interested, please contact us via email at diningroomvolunteer@gmail.com and check out our website at http://paduadiningroom.com/ . Your help is very much appreciated.

Is there anyone out there, a bona fide 'success' (and therefore 'guru') who has some spare time to help with small business/website marketing and SEO (and/or just helping mentor the business through these tough times)? At some point in my career I have been quite successful despite myself, and recently with help created a WordPress website but it doesn't seem to have much visibility and few calls or emails come in; I would also love to cross reference social/other networks. I have many connections on LinkedIn and receive 2 or 3 plaxo invites everyday (that I cannot accept because over the limit I guess). Since my income right now is 'negative,' I am definitely embarrassed but must seek a volunteer who can come to the house, at least in the short term, and can help move things forward. My home office is near 280, on Stanford land close to the campus. I'm not particularly technical and if I try to actually implement strategies or instructions without someone 'there' to oversee I will surely make a mess of it. The 'project' I envision could be quite challenging and even interesting.

Hi-
I am a 26 year old, friendly, college graduate. I work as a substitute teacher for Los Altos School District, and also as a tutor for children ages k-8.
I would love to come and hang out with your Mom/Dad/Grandma/ or Grandpa if they need some extra TLC, or if you need a break. I understand that it can be really hard taking care of somebody full time, especially when they used to take care of you. I am not rich, and I don't have a whole lot of spare time... but I really feel the need to volunteer some of my time to somebody who may need an extra hand. I will cook with them, do art projects, listen to their stories, or even read to them. I feel like often times the elderly get "the shaft", and I would feel really good to be ale to make a small difference. I have a car. Please email me with some information about yourself, and I will respond as soon as I am able!
Hope you have a blessed day.

The Ames Cat Network at Moffett Field needs help with fostering, placing and/or transporting kittens and cats trapped on-site. They range from tame abandoned pets to unsocialized cats born on-site. All are tested for FELV/FIV, altered, and given a 4 in 1 and rabies inoculations before going into foster care. Fosterers who are renters need permission from their landlords. We're looking for people experienced with cats who have the space and time to work with the cats to prepare them for adoption and to help find homes for them.

Depending on various factors, fostering may last for several months or more. Fosterers may choose to keep the cat(s) for one month before another fosterer takes over for the next month. The fosterer provides the food and litter. When a cat is adopted, the donation is kept by the fosterer to cover the costs of food and litter.

If you or someone you know is interested in fostering or adopting a cat, please respond to this ad. Thanks.
Volunteer drivers are needed to provide patients transportation to treatment. Volunteer especially needed for North San Mateo County. This is very rewarding work. You are making a difference for the patient in getting them to treatment. Patients are very appreciative of your time. You are also making a difference to the client's caregiver by giving them a break. Typically you will pick up a patient at home, drive them to a hospital for treatment (lasting about 30 minutes) and then drive the client home. Total time is about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Hours for treatment are Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. You can drive as often as you like. Many drivers take one ride per week, but you can do more or less. Volunteers must have a driver’s license, insurance and a well-maintained vehicle. Volunteers will complete a half hour orientation/training meeting and participate in a one-hour telephone conference call. Asking for 6 month committee.

Yes, it's unusual. The rewards of successfully accomplishing this are enormous. We study VERY ADVANCED CIVILIZATIONS,
Training included. 2 days to learn and practice.
Let's see what you can learn. Any inventions made during your work, will entitle you to receive royalties from licensed revenues.
Looking for experienced engineers not afraid of Viewing Across the Universe to distant worlds. And interested in studying unique sciences and engineering concepts (in minutes).

Early Detection Breast Cancer Study - $50.00

Next Scanning Date is November 12, 2009 between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm

Breast Cancer Early Detection Study
Help us fight breast cancer by finding it earlier, when treatment is more successful and less invasive.
A Silicon Valley company is developing a rapid screening test for younger women.
The scan takes 10 minutes, is painless, and does not involve X-rays or blood tests.
(This study is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute.)
WHO IS ELIGIBLE? We are looking for 100 paid female volunteers, ages 21-75.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN? While you lie on your back, a nurse will gently place a hand held scanner (the size of a pack of cards) against the skin of your breast at several locations. A technician, sitting out of view on the other side of a privacy screen, will take notes and run the equipment. There will be no physical examination, and no photographs taken.
WHAT WILL I LEARN? We will not be able to make a diagnosis of cancer in any of our volunteers. This is because we are only studying normal values in women without cancer. However, by helping us you are helping other women in the future, who may benefit when this test is taken into a larger, clinical study. However, if there is, at the end of the study, any scan that looks abnormal we will be recommending a follow up mammogram, which will be paid for, at Stanford.
WHAT DO I RECEIVE? You will receive a $50 check on completion of your test as our way of saying “thanks”.
WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS STUDY? The U.S. Government has provided funds for this study. This technology is under development at Stanford, University of California, Univ. of Pennsylvania, and elsewhere.
THERE ARE A FEW REQUIREMENTS BEFORE YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOLUNTEER:
− You must be female
− You must be 21 to 75 years old
− You must not have (or have had in the past) breast cancer
− You must not have (or have had in the past) breast implants or breast surgery
− You must not have had breast biopsy, breast trauma, or breast infection in the past 90 days.
WILL MY PRIVACY BE PROTECTED? Yes, strict Federal Laws (called HIPAA) protect your privacy. Your name and personal information will be removed from all data before it is submitted to the FDA or published. However, certain agencies such as the FDA occasionally and legally may request a list of our subjects’ names.
WHO DO I CONTACT? Please provide your first name (and optionally your last name), contact phone, e-mail address, and the best time for us to call. Send this to earlydetectionstudy@gmail.com. A nurse will call you to confirm your interest, verify eligibility, answer your questions, and schedule a study. Studies are performed during business hours on weekdays.
It’s staggering that 88% of kids from low-income communities can’t read at grade level. When a child can’t read, school is no fun. The power of your one-on-one attention and caring can make a huge difference. Reading Partners has an 80% success rate.

Sign up for a time that works for you. 15 locations across the bay area, including East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City, Santa Clara, Mountain View and Atherton.
