Shift Supervisor

Securitas, the world largest security provider seeks an individual to provide lead direction to Security Officers and manage all security operations at a hospital site in South San Francisco.
Provide leadership and direction to Security Officers at assigned client site(s) on assigned shift(s). Manages the entire scope of Security operations during assigned shift within parameters of assignment. The Shift Supervisor is under the direct supervision of the Security Services Account Manager. The Shift Supervisor works the primary (day) shift and is directly responsible for the management of all security activities, services and security staff on watch during that time. Observes and reports activities and incidents, provides for the security and safety of client property and personnel. Conducts periodic tours of the primary client site and off-site locations to ensure compliance with client administrative and Security policies and procedures, deter crime, check for any irregularities, inspect on-duty staff, and ensure that inspections of protection devices, fire control and communications equipment takes place. Directs activities for the preservation of order and ensures enforcement of policies, regulations and directives for the site pertaining to patients, staff, visitors, and premises. The Shift Supervisor ensures that all security policies and directives pertaining to the training, appearance, grooming and job performance of Security officers are enforced. The Shift Superv isor ensures security officers on all shifts are qualified for the posts they are assigned and ensures they are briefed on any special instructions or events for effecting their shift. The Shift Supervisor represents the Security Services Account Manager during his absence and act as a liaison between all hospital departments and the Security Department.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Provides direction, training and discipline to Security Officers on respective shifts at the main campus and outlying facilities/locations. Performs other duties of a more responsible and demanding level, as defined by client contract.

1. Supervises the performance of duties by Security Officers in accordance with post orders and company policies.
2. Accountable for all security operations occurring at the client site(s).
3. Provides leadership and direction at assigned client site(s) on assigned shift(s); acts to ensure that post orders are followed, that established rounds are completed, and that adequate reports are filed; notifies proper authorities and client in emergency situations.
4. Patrols hospital buildings and grounds, providing assistance as required.
5. Insures all Shift Daily Activity Reports (DAR), Incident Reports (IR), Security/Safety Reports, and any other forms generated during shifts are completed, grammatically correct and contain all relevant data.
6. Counsels, disciplines and mentors personnel as appropriate; seeks advice from company management or designated representatives as appropriate; meets personally with employees and documents counseling and disciplinary actions.
7. Assists the Sec urity Services Account Manager in the planning/design, implementation and evaluation of training programs for Security Officers. Reviews post orders and recommends changes based on operational conditions/necessity to the Security Services Account Manager and the client.
8. Assists in the weekly submission of payroll and personnel information to the company as needed.
9. On a daily basis in conjunction with company management or designated company representatives, plans/acts to ensure adequate and timely security coverage of all posts at client site(s).
10. Prepares, files and submits various reports as required.
11. Inspects posts as scheduled and meets with subordinates to outline tasks and responsibilities.
12. Serves as point of contact for client staff/patients and family members for all matters relating to Security. Meets with client representatives as scheduled or as needed to provide assurance that all security requirements are being met and to provide quality customer service.
13. Supervises, coordinates and directs the Security response to all emergency and disaster codes within the Hospital and outlying sites. Routinely reviews and recommends updates of all Security plans pertaining to emergencies and disasters within the Hospital and outlying sites.
14. Maintains inventory control of all Security equipment issued to shift personnel.
15. As assigned, in accordance with applicable company policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal laws, carries out supervisory duties that can incl ude some or all of the following: interviewing, orienting and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring and termination recommendations to the Security Services Account Manager.
16. Performs additional duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY
Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.
Education/Experience:
HS Diploma or GED and one (1) year undergraduate credit in Criminal Justice, Healthcare, Business or Public Administration. A minimum of two (2) years of hospital security experience with an excellent working knowledge of hospital security operations; OR a minimum of three (3) years general security experience or experience sufficient to meet the requirements of the assigned site, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, as determined by the company.
Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):
Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.
Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorizations specified for the assigned site.
Knowledge of security operations and procedures.
Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
Ability to provide positive direction and motivate20performance.
Understanding of a variety of security and safety devices and controls.
Ability to learn quickly and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.

Above average written and verbal communication skills, with experience in writing policies and procedures, developing and tracking metrics, and preparing monthly reports and ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.

Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with clients, client staff and the public at a variety of social levels and across diverse cultural backgrounds.
Ability to pass Companys Drivers certification program, including a valid CA Drivers License with no violations in the three (3) years preceding20appointment/hire.
Ability to meet medical clearance requirements of a Healthcare Facility.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, schedule, direct and maintain discipline of shift personnel in a medium to high-pressure environment with frequently changing and/or competing demands preferred.
Above average knowledge of personal computers and word processing to include e-mail programs and Microsoft Word & EXCEL.
Experience with operation of digital Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and computer-based alarm, access control, and two-way radio communication systems preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
STRONG preference for previous supervisory experience in the security field.
Strong preference for previous experience in a healthcare facility.
AA degree or 2 years undergraduate credit at a college or junior college in Criminal Justice, Healthcare, Business or Public Administration.
Above average knowledge of MS PowerPoint and computer graphics programs.
Experience crafting and giving informational or training presentations using EXCEL or PowerPoint software in medium to large group settings preferred.
Working knowledge of the California Penal Code and criminal court procedures in California preferred.
