The Office of Information Resources and Technology (IRT) provides information technology, informatics, simulation and knowledge management services in support of the School of Medicine's clinical, research and educational missions. Within IRT, The Department of Education Technology provides a highly coordinated set of educational planning and support services to facilitate the innovative and appropriate use of teaching technology throughout the school. Opening in Spring of 2010, the Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge (http://lksc.stanford.edu/) will bring together cutting-edge medicine, modern education and advanced technology. This exciting enterprise requires the skills of an AV/IT Systems Manager to provide direction and technical leadership in the operation of all technology systems in this new education facility that includes video capture and distribution in every teaching space, a full simulation center, videoconferencing capabilities and a conference center. We'll rely on you to manage the development/implementation of new technology systems, manage all AV/IT systems, serve as the primary contact for the system vendors, AV integrators and other consultants and manage a highly skilled technical staff. You will also be expected to work with other IRT Managers and Directors in developing long-range plans for AV/IT technologies.

Qualifications

Required:
• Four year college degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum five years of experience of a progressively responsible nature managing a technical operation that focuses on proactive maintenance and support of AV/IT technologies deployed in learning or presentation spaces.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute long range strategies that translate into specific projects plans.
• Experience developing methodologies for the tracking and support of large numbers of AV/IT resources and equipment over multiple spaces.
• Extensive server administration experience including Mac OSX server.
• Experience designing fault tolerant systems including computing clusters (Apple Xgrid), fail over systems and RAID storage and volume management.
• Experience with fiber channel protocols, SAN design and clustered file systems such as Apple XSAN.
• Experience with video capture, video streaming or broadcast engineering technologies.
• Demonstrated experience with specifying, procuring, installing and implementing enterprise AV and IT systems.
• Proven ability to work within an enterprise datacenter and development environment.
• Experience supporting classroom technologies including AV/presentation, video-capture, videoconferencing and computer based technologies.
• Strong organizational skills and the proven ability to document systems and practices.
• Demonstrated communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to evaluate and investigate new technologies as they emerge and make appropriate recommendations with regard to implementation and support models.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.

Desired:
• Experience integrating and deploying open and active directory services within Mac OS X Server.
• Experience managing fiber optic–based video and audio transport and routing systems.
• Understanding of AMX/Crestron programming.
• AV systems engineering certification.
• Change management methodology certification (ITIL or equivalent).
• Experience in a higher education setting.
