Caritas Business Services (CBS) is part of a regional health system in California, providing acute, long-term, community health, psychiatric, rehabilitation and residential care. We are sponsored by the Daughters of Charity, a religious order of the Catholic Church dedicated to serving the sick and poor. With nearly 130 Associates, CBS provides a range of support services for the Northern California Health Ministries of the Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS) — Seton Medical Center, Seton Medical Center Coastside, O'Connor Hospital, Saint Louise Regional Hospital and for the DCHS System Office.
Business Systems is an integral part of the Patient Financial Services Department which includes insurance verification, financial advisors, cashiering, billing and collection of all local health ministry services, and a customer service call center to assist patients with billing questions.
We are currently seeking a full-time Business Systems Analyst to support the needs of CBS located in beautiful Redwood Shores Peninsula. The Business Systems Analyst provides advanced-level analysis and day to day support for all Business Services applications in a complex healthcare industry. These systems include, but not limited to systems that support: patient accounting; billing; collections and finance. The Business Systems Analyst will have a working knowledge of data base queries, electronic payment and remittance advice processing.
The Business Systems Analyst will be expected to apply analysis of business systems and automatic data processing solutions to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of work processes for both current and future business needs. Assists in the daily activities and operations of all business systems utilized in Patient Financial Services (PFS). Assists the Information Technology department in all system changes, including implementations and upgrades. The Business Systems area of PFS is responsible for day to day systems maintenance including parameter and table maintenance, regulatory change implementation, issue identification, and user support of various software applications on a variety of platforms. Works with Business Systems team that support key systems within PFS to ensure all systems are functional and available to users. The PFS services supported include pre billing, billing, follow up, customer service, cash and adjustment posting, managed care tracking and reporting, and denial logging.
QUALIFICATIONS:
> High school graduate or equivalent required. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in computer science, business, or related field preferred.
> Minimum 2 years Patient Accounting or in a Patient Financial Services environment within the last 5 years.
> Minimum 3 years IT related work experience, preferably in a HOSPITAL OR HEALTHCARE SETTING.
> Expertise in a variety of software applications, but especially with Meditech experience, NPR report writing and BAR module A MUST.
> Proficient with Microsoft SQL, VBA, Excel (with formulas, pivot tables, ODBC, etc), MS Word, MS Access, relational database technology.
> Able to learn new software applications and/or programs as needed.
> Experience in system analyst activities including structured design, testing and documentation.
> Experience in training, developing training plans and procedure writing.
> Experience in functional areas as a user. Clear evidence of being able to work on multiple projects in a complex environment.
> Must have strong analytical skills and problem-solving techniques.
> Strong technical skills: strong understanding of hardware and platforms
> Must possess strong analytical, troubleshooting skills and able to resolve systems issues.
> Ability to work with complex data sets, recognizes inconsistencies with detailed data and research appropriate resolutions.
> Continually seeks to improve technical skills as they relate to all supported areas of the department and keeping up to date on industry standards and evolving technology.
> Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative manner.
> Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of hospital employees in systematic problem solving and innovative thinking; attention to detail; generates detailed reports that are both deadline driven.
> Requires a high level of accuracy; customer focus and excellent communication; and a tolerance for ambiguity, changing priorities and unexpected events.
> Knowledge of any of the following product is a plus: Cirius, Monarch and MacroExpress.
