From Cicero's current guardian:

Cicero is 9 years old, neutered and in excellent health. I adopted him when he was 3 months old, and he always has had annual checkups and shots.

He needs to be an only pet in an adult household. He is afraid of strangers, as the only one he's around is me. He needs a quiet environment with maybe one or two adults, but no other pets or children. I want him to be an indoor cat with access to an outdoor enclosure. He is quick to purr, loves to play with string, is a lap sitter, and loves to sleep on the bed.

Two months ago I was diagnosed with intestinal cancer which had also spread to my liver and lungs. I am currently fighting it using chemotherapy, but this is a terminal condition.

I need to find a home for my cat Cicero while I am able. He is a beautiful cat!

I am gratefully,

David I.

If you are interested in giving Cicero a loving home, please visit our website and complete an adoption application. Thank you for helping Cicero and bringing peace of mind and comfort to David!

This sweet, sweet girl Mia is currently in need of a foster or adopter. She is a sweet, lovable girl. Although the shelter she was rescued from labled her as a pit mix, we strongly disagree. With her very small frame and curled tail she looks more like a lab/terrier mix. She is about three months and a great little puppy. She gets along great with everyone including all dogs. If you think you may be interested in providing Mia with a permanent home please visit our website and fill out an application.
If you are interested in fostering please contact me asap. We will provide you with a collar, leash and crate. Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.

Toby & Rollie - med. sized loving dogs for adoption (mountain view)

I am currently fostering Toby and Rollie - 2 medium sized dogs up for adoption from www.coppersdream.org
The dogs DO NOT need to be adopted together.

Toby -
Toby looks like a terrier/basenji mix (maybe?). He is about 30 pounds and is an absolute love. He sits on command (especially if there is food involved!) and will do anything to move one inch closer to you. He is fully asleep as I type this sitting on my bed and has his head on my knee and his 2 front paws around my right leg. Also, he shakes his right leg when you rub his belly. You have to see it. He is high energy and loves to play with other dogs and humans. He does not shed much and I have only heard him bark once since I have known him. He is all around the perfect dog. He is stunning to look at as his brindle coat makes him look a lot like a tiger - we get a lot of compliments while out walking him. He is very easy to train and is easily reprimanded (if you raise your voice at all he immediately freezes). He is housetrained, and is well on his way to knowing "shake."

Rollie-
Rollie is a collie mix (i.e. Lassie looking dog). He weighs between 20-30 pounds and doesn't look like he'll get much bigger. He is shocking calm. He has long, soft hair and wants nothing more than to sit in your lap. He is easy on a leash and wants nothing more than to sit next to you all day. He likes to be brushed and is quickly learning commands. He is housetrained. Rollie would be a fabulous family dog since he is so calm and likes to be around his humans more than anything else.

If you are interested in adopting either dog, please contact Jennifer@coppersdream.org. If you'd like to meet these guys, please reply to this ad and we can set up a meeting.
Adoption fee is $200 for Rollie and $225 for Toby and includes neutering and all shots.

Don't miss out! You don't see dogs like this often!

Click here for a movie of the kittens in action
(with music)

Birdie (female), Eagle (male), and Bogie (male) were rescued at 10 days of age. They were found on a golf course and would have been euthanized at the local shelter. Most people don’t know that black kittens and cats are 85% more likely to get euthanized than any other color kitten/cat. I still don’t understand why. I find them to be among the most loving of all kittens and cats.

These babies have been lovingly bottle-fed and raised in a foster home with other
adult cats and because of that they are very friendly and gentle. They love people and want to be held and played with all the time. These babies are all short haired and polydactyl, which means they have an extra toe on their paws which makes them even cuter. They will look like miniature panthers when they grow up with big ole panther paws.

They have all been fixed, de-flead, de-wormed, tested negative for FeLV/FIV and had their shots at our expense. They are litter box trained.

If you have questions and/or would like to set-up a time to visit and/or adopt one or two of these cuties please send me an e-mail with your contact info or call 650-802-9686. We do ask a donation at the time of adoption which will go to the “Safe Haven for Cats” non-profit rescue organization so that other kittens may be rescued.

Thank You,

Two sweet boy cats in need of a home (menlo park)

Hello! I have two male cats in need of a good home. I've just rescued them from a family in the process of moving who couldn't take them, but unfortunately I've discovered that my partner and I have terrible cat allergies and are unable to keep them.

Both of the cats are very sweet boys. Mr. Gregory is grey and white, medium haired, and very pretty. Mr. Oliver is black and white, short haired, and looks a little bit like an alien, but is very cute. They have been friends for a long time and would be better if adopted together, but could be separated if necessary. I have been keeping them indoors, but their previous family let them go outdoors as well. They are both fixed, litter trained, up to date on vaccinations and have been recently seen by a vet. Both still have front and back claws. I believe they are around 3 years old.
I am charging a nominal adoption fee and would love to meet potential adopters to make sure the boys are moving into a good home. I can also give you a giant litterbox, cat food, and a bundle of toys along with the two cats. If you'd like to come by and see them, or know anybody who might, please contact me! Thanks very much.

Kitten Adoption Fair and Cat Nail Trimming Clinic TODAY, Saturday November 14th at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express!

Do you have trouble trimming your cat's nails? We can help! Itty Bitty Orphan Kitty Rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on SATURDAY November 14th from 1-5pm offering a Cat Nail Trimming Clinic to the general public! We will trim your cat's front paws for a small donation of $5 and all four paws for a donation of $10! This way you get your cat's nails trimmed and will help us to raise money to continue with our rescue efforts. It's a win-win! We will also show you how to do this safely at home yourself! And if your kitties are not up-to-date on their vaccinations or need microchipping, the VIP Mobile Vet will be at the store from 3:30 to 5pm and can provide these important services to you at a fraction of the amount it would cost you to take your kitties to the vet! So bring your kitties and their razor sharp claws to us for a nail trim and help us raise money to save more kitty lives!

IBOK Rescue will also be showcasing some of our wonderful and adorable kittens and sweet young cats who are available for adoption. Please come out and see some purrfect kittens who are waiting for their forever homes.

"Big Red" is a big deal! (Nine Lives Foundation REDWOOD CITY)

Big Red is very a very handsome, orange tabby, DSH male. A little on the plus side, we think Big Red is around 3 years old (Approx DOB: 6/05). He is a quiet mellow boy who can't get enough head rubs. Such a loving boy he likes to roll over so you can pet his tummy. He is a sweetie and certainly came from someone's home. He is people-friendly but is not a lap cat. He loves to sit in the window and look outside and is a very quiet, easy-going fellow. He would be a great companion for someone wanting a loving sweet boy. Did we mention he has gorgeous eyes?
Big Ben is looking for that special person to adopt him and take him to his new home. Big Red had a nasty hematoma in his ear earlier this year from a scuffle with another kitty in the play cage. As a result, he now has one floppy ear. Just a little hint of character to this handsome kitty. He still does well with other cats, but we recommend he live in a home with a submissive kitty companion, and not an alpha cat. To learn more about Big Ben, visit him at our shelter or email us at ninelivesfoundation@gmail.com

Founded on November 5, 2003, by Monica Thompson, D.V.M., the Feline Well-Care Clinic started as a veterinary hospital that occasionally rescued cats.
Beau is a handsome, affectionate, 7 year-old (DOB: 5/2002) neutered male. Beau came to us in May from the Martinez Animal Shelter where he was due to be PTS for ringworm. His ringworm has since been treated and he is in perfect health. Beau is a quiet boy who does well with other cats, in small numbers, and likes attention. He's slow to warm up to new people, however, and would probably not want to live in a home with young, active children. Beau's dream home would include a couch with a sunny spot to bask in and lots of quality laying about.
Brandy is a pretty, (est. DOB 9/05), spayed, DSH, black female who came to us on 4/3/09 from the Martinez Animal Shelter. Brandy is a shy girl who seems to be getting more withdrawn the longer she's in the shelter. She would be really happy in a quiet home as an only kitty that would let her slowly blossom and come around. She has the potential to be a nice roommate kitty but will likely never be a lap cat or carry-about kitty. She is charming and mysterious, very much a lovable kitty that needs a warm home this season. To learn more about Brandy, visit her at our shelter or email us at ninelivesfoundation@gmail.com

Founded on November 5, 2003, by Monica Thompson, D.V.M., the Feline Well-Care Clinic started as a veterinary hospital that occasionally rescued cats. As time went on, Dr. Thompson discovered that her passion was rescuing cats from Bay Area shelters that would otherwise be put to sleep.

Do you love kittens and cats? Do you have a small amount of time to spare each week? If yes, we really need your help!

We are looking for some dedicated people to help with playing with the kitties, feeding them, and helping with adoptions.

We will send you more details, just email us! Info@humanimalconnection.com

Who Can Volunteer:

1- Single Individuals with time to spare!

2- Students in need of community service hours!

3- Families looking to give back to the community and spend time together!

4- Those who love cats but maybe cannot adopt right now!

5- Looking to adopt, but want your kids to learn responsibility first? Perfect way to learn to scoop boxes, feed, and give love before you commit to bringing a pet home.

6- Looking to adopt, but want to spend time with different personalities before you decide? Here's where you will fall in love! :-)

Please help!

There are morning, afternoon & evening volunteer positions available with our cats displayed at Petco AND San Mateo Pet and Feed Supply. (Both in Redwood City.)

We really need your help today! Please email us or call us today (888-538-9402), or read more about us at www.humanimalconnection.com

As a volunteer-run organization, we are only able to save and rescue kitties with the help from our volunteers, so we need your help!! Please!

Other Areas Needing Volunteer Help...

1- We also are in need of transportation volunteers to help transport kitties to and from medical appointments and we are also in need of foster homes for our mommy and baby kittens.

2- Foster homes! We need foster homes to temporarily house our baby kittens until they are ready for adoption! Read more on our website: www.humanimalconnection.com or email for details!

3- Trapping feral cats and kittens: In 7 years, one unaltered female cat can produce over 400,000 cats! This means, if these cats aren't taken off the streets and spay and neutered, more kitties will need to be euthanized in shelters! We can teach you to trap and provide resources, we just need more helping hands! More details through email!

4- Help online advertisments: Through Craigslist and other venues we are able to advertise our kitties and find them homes ASAP! We could use your help with postings!

Homeless Cat Network (HCN) is looking for foster homes to help us with the stray kittens born in all areas of the SF Peninsula. Our goal is to rescue, alter and re-home these kitties - both to prevent more unwanted kittens from being born and to enhance the life and well being of the individual kittens.

Why foster you ask?? People who choose to foster do so because they feel good knowing they are making the difference in the life of an innocent animal; that a few months of your time turns quickly into a rewarding, educational, challenging, and fun experience you will never forget. While it's true that fosters do get attached to their animals, they also find a special joy in sending a pet to a wonderful new family.

Many families foster as a way to teach their children about compassion and responsibilty in a creative and collaborative way. Many find parent-child partnerships who take on kittens to socialize as a very rewarding tag-team effort with joyous results.

HCN is a fabulous organization that has many resources available for its volunteers while at the same time allowing the foster parents to participate in the adoption process of their foster kittens.

If you would be interested in learning more about our foster program, please e-mail info@homelesscatnetwork.org or homelesscatnetworkadopt@gmail.com. Foster homes need to be located on the SF Peninsula.

I trapped some kittens at my office that were around 6 weeks old. I have brought them home to work on domesticating them and they are around 4months now and ready to find homes to call their own- they are three little girls who would love to all live together but realize that most people don't want to bring home 3 kittens -

They purr like crazy, are a little shy around new people and will need more hugs and kisses when then move to their new home - they love to chase laser lights, play with fuzzy mice and balls with little bells in them - they should live in a home that has either another cat or friendly dog so they have some company especially if you work all day.

Because they spent 6 weeks in the wild they should be indoor cats so they don't have bad memories about their past.

They have 3 sets of shots and are spayed - there is a $35 adoption fee - please consider adopting a pair

thanks,

The Nine Lives Foundation, dedicated to the welfare of all cats and kittens, is an organization seeking to end needless euthanasia.
In pursuit of this goal, we:
-Provide low-cost spaying and neutering services to the general public.
-Rescue cats and kittens from death row at area shelters.
-Rehabilitate, spay/neuter and find permanent loving homes for cats in our care.

-Participate in TNR (trap/neuter/release) efforts.

Our Background
Founded on November 5, 2003, by Monica Thompson, D.V.M., the Feline Well-Care Clinic started as a veterinary hospital that occasionally rescued cats. As time went on, Dr. Thompson discovered that her passion was rescuing cats from Bay Area shelters that would otherwise be put to sleep. She eventually established the no-kill Nine Lives Foundation in December of 2004, a community-based not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization.

It has been a long time since Baaa has seen anything outside of the shelter walls. She'd really love to have a bed on top of a super tall cat tree where she can hang out while you're at work. Baaa was born in May of 2005. She is a sweet, spayed, DLH, all black female with soft fur and a lovely expressive face. Always an indoor only kitty, Baaa has really blossomed while with us. She now plays quite well with the other kitties and would make a great companion cat. She's very fond of brushing and would really enjoy a home where nightly grooming sessions could be had. Baaa needs a loving family who appreciates a kitty who, in seconds, will jump from her perch to your lap, and take a snooze.
Hello,
I have two black kittens(girls) who are about 5 monthes old. I am looking for a family, couple or individual who would be able to provide a loving home for them. They are great cats. They get along well and love to chase one another. They are very healthy, have almost all of their shots, they're microchipped, etc. They are also very clean(I bathe them/brush their teeth/trim their nails). I am really looking for someone to adopt them because I am no longer able to have them in the apartment complex where I live. I really hate to be putting up this posting because I am VERY attached to these cats. All I am asking is for a good family to take them in. I have all of their necesseties(food/toys/litterbox, etc). If anyone is interested, please give me a call! I have not yet gotten a hold of any shelters that will take them, and they will be put to sleep if I turn them into the humane society. PLEASE! If anyone would even just like to meet them, I would be glad to arrange it! My phone number is (650)921-3912. Thanks!

Polly Pureheart, Oliver Twist and Jack Sparrow are gorgeous Maine Coon mixes with the look and personality you expect from a Maine Coon. These three fabulous kittens were rescued when they were tiny and have been lovingly cared for by an independent rescuer for the last 4-5 months. They are super friendly and cuddly and playful and have puppy-dog personalities. They have been coming to our adoption events for months and we're not sure why they have not been adopted because they are absolutely perfect in every way. But, they are big! They are only six months old but they are the size of an average adult cat and will likely get much bigger.

They will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday November 14th from 1-5pm waiting to meet you!

Founded on November 5, 2003, by Monica Thompson, D.V.M., the Feline Well-Care Clinic started as a veterinary hospital that occasionally rescued cats. She eventually established the no-kill Nine Lives Foundation in December of 2004, a community-based not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization.

Whiskers is a beautiful black and white Tuxedo girl who's a DLH/Maine Coon mix. She is 7 years old, FIV+, and spayed. Whiskers was originally adopted out of the Fremont Animal Shelter (FAS) as an 8 week old kitten in April of 2002. We don't know what her life was like after that but she ended up back at the FAS as a stray with FIV and was due to be euthanized. She's a very sweet girl who loves to hang out in your lap and snuggle, so the volunteers at FAS called and asked us to take her in. Whiskers needs a safe, permanent, indoor-only home where she can enjoy the love of a family of her own.

Looking for a forever feline friend? The Homeless Cat Network will be showing adoptable kittens and cats tonight, Friday, November 13th, from 6pm to 8pm at Petsmart in San Carlos: 1225 Industrial Road (off south 101 between Brittan and Whipple exits, XS: Howard), 650/632-1605. Can't make it? We will also be having fairs on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.

Here's a sampling of the cute kittens and cats who will be there:

Donovan, a medium-hair orange tabby male who loves everyone!

Sybil, formerly Buckwheat, is a cute, short-haired torbie (tabby and tortie) girl with an estimated DOB 6/15/09. Sybil is really lovable and snuggly. She loves to curl up in your lap or by your feet and take a nap. Sybil purrs up a storm, and is extremely playful when given a toy or when wrestling with her siblings. She loves to sleep with people and curl up next to their faces. In her foster home she tolerated the family dog, which her siblings liked to snuggle with. As she matures, Sybil seems to have decided that she'd like to be an only kitty, but we think in a home environment, she'd be just fine with another kitty.

The team at A Lucky Dog knows that dogs are much more than pets, they are family members. Dogs capture our hearts, share our homes and in many cases are given the same status as our children. That's why choosing the right care for them is important.

Loving Owners know that dogs, even the smaller breeds, require a fair amount of exercise and stimulation to stay happy and healthy. Canines by nature are very social creatures and they crave companionship.

A Lucky Dog understands you can't be with your canine friend all day, every day, but you can help your loved one to be more content during the times that you are away with help from our dedicated team.

A Lucky Dog Day Care Services is NOT a kennel, our handlers open their homes (and hearts) to provide custom private care in a comfortable home setting. I also have experience with larger animals due to competing horses in 3-day competitions (dressage, x-country, stadium) and spending many years in Pony Club and 4H. Along with pet care I currently volunteer 2 days a week at a center where horses are used to assist children with disabilities. The children ride the horses along with a physical therapist to build their motor skills and advance their balance and muscles.
It's truly amazing to see how animals can help these kids to walk and function so much better.

Along with all of my hands on experience with animals I have a BA degree in psychology.

Tammy and Tommy are very loving and playful. They were found at an abandoned house with their mother so they are very happy to be warm, dry and living in a home. They can be a little shy, but are such lovebugs when you get to know them. They are about 10 weeks old, long-haired, neutered, de-flead, de-wormed, tested negative for FeLV/FIV and have had their first shot at our expense. They are litter box trained.

They were rescued and fostered by “Safe Haven for Cats”. We do ask for a small donation at the time of adoption which will go to the “Safe Haven for Cats” non-profit rescue organization so that other kittens may be rescued. Please call Karen at (650) 759-5065.

Thank you!

Loyal yorkie looking to keep an elderly person company for a long time (woodside)

Sadly I'm looking for a new home for my beloved little best friend. Due to a personal situation that I will explain to the right home my purebred 3 year old 3.5 pound Yorkshire Terrier will be much happier with a new living situation.
His name is Romeo and he goes by Romey. He knows sit, down, stay, heel, come, leave it and go to bed (he sleeps in his crate although anytime anyday he would prefer to be in bed with you). He's trained to go potty on a pad if he has to go while inside the house but will go to the bathroom outside if you let him out in the backyard just as easily too. Although he is my baby I haven't spoiled him. He walks like a normal dog and doesn't need to be carried anywhere. He doesn't get dressed up in little clothes because he is dog and a boy dog at that.
He's extremely loyal, a bit protective at times and he will let you know when anyone is outside or at the door. He gets along with other dogs. Currently he lives with 2 females (a cocker spaniel and a shit zu) and he definitely enjoys being the alpha dog in the house.
He has been taking care of extremely well and just had an annual exam with a professional ($700) teeth cleaning. Yorkie's are not know to have the best teeth so I would want a home who understood that he will need to have his teeth taken very well care of. Other than that Romey is a very sturdy dog and according to his vet he has a clean bill of health.
I have posted a bunch of pictures of Romey some of him with long hair, some with short hair and some in that in between stage. Currently his hair looks most similar to the picture with him and 2 the 2 other dogs.
The ideal home for Romey would be a single older/retired person who stays home a lot, needs company and doesn't get a lot of visitors. Romey doesn't require much walking. He can go on walks but once around the block and that is about all his little legs can take. He loves to go in the car and is great on road trips too.
If you are someone or know someone who might be interested in having a truly best little buddy to keep them company for a long time to come please email me. I really love this little dog so I'll only give him to the right home.

Due to the responses I have received with the ad only being up 1 day please include in your email the following items...
1. The ages of everyone living in the home
2. If you work what hours are you home
3. A little bit about you and your lifestyle
4. Experience you have with dogs
5. Other animals that live in the home
6. Pics of where Romey will be living
7. Where you live
8. Eventually a list of 3 or more references (how long you have known them, and how you know them)
9. And any other information you think might be pertinent
Sorry to have so many requirements. As I stated before I'm very picky about who this dog goes to. I think I might collect a adoption fee just to be sure someone doesn't try to get a free cute purebred yorkie off craigslist and then turn around and sell him to God knows who.
Also, I would like to check up on Romey on monthly basis to be sure all is going well and everyone is happy.
Many Thanks,
Cleery

Smart, Clean, Highly Intelligent pair of English Rats (south san francisco)

This pair of young (approximately 6 months) female rats are highly intelligent. They have been trained to stand up on command as well as "down" for when you want them off of your lap. They are regularly let out of the cage and run around enclosed rooms. They have never run away and have never bitten anyone, even those who decide they want to stick their fingers in the cage (ie a 3 and 6 year old). Have to get rid of rats because boyfriend is allergic. They cost $50 for the pair, but I am only asking $45 for the cage. At Petsmart/Petco these cages easily run for $100. They are terrified of cats but are ok around dogs as long as they don't nip at them.

Many individuals have stigmas against rats. Please do not buy into it- while wild rats may indeed be dirty, those that have been born in captivity by breeders are not and actually make great pets. These are Burmese rats, from what the breeder told me they are descendants of rats that were legally brought over from England and registered in the United States. She loved her rats (a little too much if you ask me) and ensured that they were free of any type of contamination or disease when bred and adopted so they would not contaminate her "show rats" (she really did enter them in competitions). They were adopted from a Rattery that has some of the best ratings in California. If you are curious, the link is http://packageratz.rochani.com/

Just want them to go to a good home where they won't be rough handled like they are occasionally by the young kids here (I dont mind if you want to give them to your kids as long as they know not to be too rough). Good "trainer pets" for kids. Like training wheels before a dog :) Feel free to email with any questions. Thank you for taking the time to read this post and have a wonderful day!
