We are a new band based out of South San Francisco and we are looking for a singer to front our band.

-We are a 4 piece post hardcore/emo/powerpop band.

I'm pretty much tired of just watching cool bands have fun, enjoying the life of music and all.

I'm a 21 yr old Christian single pedal drummer looking for cool peeps to jam and eventually start something good going. I love music with all my heart....thats been going on pretty much ever since I was born.....it runs in my blood.

Anyways....as for now I dont own a drumset but thats because of a couple of reasons...One is that I don't really have a place to set 'em up so thats why i'm looking for someone to jam with that would have a place to practice and all....and I'm pretty much saving up to get a cool set. But eitherway once I see that we have a main group then I would eventually get a set asap.

What I have to offer:

I have several years of experience playing the guitar (rhythm). I am pretty damn rusty now so you would have to bear with while I practice to get my consistency back up. I want to create a band that jams on the weekends. I think finding a singer and drummer first would be the easiest, but I am open to working with "strings" too. It would just make it harder at first. I have several songs (mostly just the guitar parts), for a complete album. The songs, I believe, are solid and could be something outstanding with some band work added to it. I do not depend on the E power chord like most other bands. I like to vary it up using some of the higher notes. I consider my music melodic, but not weak. I want to write hard, aggressive, and melodic music, but not speed or death metal.

What I am hoping for:

-Singer:

I want the singer to be able to sing and not scream the words. The death grunt is overdone; it seems metal bands ONLY sing like this these days. I miss the classic singing style, kind of like Hetfield (not the new country influenced voice), but not the squeals of hair metal bands.

-Drummer

I want a drummer who varys it up, not just use constant double bass or high hat snare combos. Again blast beats are overdone. Slow down the tempo as well and you can have more variety in the music that you create.


One philosophical note: I don't want to write satanic music (even though I do enjoy Slayer) because, yet again, it's been done. Also, I live in San Mateo and I prefer musicians who live as close as possible. Overall I'm looking for people with experiece, who are reliable, and are enthusiastic about classic Thrash Metal. Oh and for those who care, I'm 33. Our former bassist departed due to his hectic schedule. We have currently several new songs in the works and we're eager to get bass into the equation again. We want your creative input too. We'd like to do 2 shows a month with some down time--we will not dominate your life or wear ourselves out by playing too frequently. We favor analog recording and live tracking. We have several connections for playing shows. We play makeshift venues right now and wouldn't mind playing small clubs in addition.
Our songs are primarily linear in structure and involve a slew of odd time signatures. The result isn�t �prog� though. We write pretty economically in that we'll stretch a part out and morph it a few different ways if it feels right. We've got songs that are less than a minute and others that clock in at 5. Lyrically, there really isn't any political banter. Lots of off kilter stuff with a politically incorrect sense of humor.

Be able to contribute bass parts that reinforce the rest of the music well rhythmically, melodically and creatively. Don�t strictly follow on the root notes of the guitar parts. Be a proficient player with patience and a desire to contribute. Be able to practice once or twice a week. Have good gear and transportation. Be prompt and have good communication skills. No drugs, no sketchy bullshit. Be serious about making some new music, but don't take yourself too seriously. A good sense of humor is essential.

Play at the 2008 Palo Alto Relay for Life, an event that Fundraises for the American Cancer Society's treatment and information programs for cancer patients and their families. Your music is needed to help make this event fun and memorable!

The Relay is on August 16 at the Palo Alto High School (50 Embarcadero Road). You would be playing in either the track area (with a field/stage set up) or in the quad area (again with a stage set up).


Music must be:

1. Family Friendly! (i.e. no inappropriate lyrics or screaming)
2. Any genre! Rock, Pop, DJs, Solo Instrumentalists or Vocalists, Ethnic music...All are welcomed!


The event is a Relay so participants will be walking around a track for 24 hours to symbolize how the fight against cancer never sleeps. So, we have time slots available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to play. You will have an audience that will be enjoying your music while walking or playing games or fundraising or sitting right in front of you.

Come support this fantastic cause and get great experience playing for many people in your area! Try to have a demo recording to send us (or a website like myspace to refer us to) for us to listen to your music, but if you don't have one yet that is okay!
