As a leader of our User Experience team, your design vision can make a significant impact on our customers by making their strategic talent management applications work intuitively and with ease. You will collaborate closely with engineering and product management on driving UI vision. The position is located in San Mateo, CA.


VICE PRESIDENT of UI Design / User Experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own the user experience for all products. Conduct research and work with customers and end users to determine the critical user experience needs for an enterprise SaaS suite. Lead the effort to create intuitive, reusable Web 2.0 components and user interactions across all of our products, ensuring a consistent, easy-to-learn and easy-to-use suite of applications.
• Work in tight partnership with Engineering, Product Management, and Quality Assurance. Manage projects from creation all the way to implementation. Lead the effort to create standards for the Engineering and Product Management groups to use in the creation of new products.
• Build a User Experience team that will define the user experience for all of our products. Recruit and hire experts in interaction design, information architecture and visual design, as needed.
• Manage team performance and general team management, e.g. setting up goals, performance reviews, team 1-on-1 meetings
• Resolve priority conflicts for the team, handling both internal and external escalations
• Manage costs, reviews team structure, and drive process Kaizen initiatives
• Review product roadmap and drive innovation, balancing business priorities with technology initiatives
• Explore business opportunities to improve internal efficiency and productivity
• Drive initiatives to deliver revenue and improve COGS. Manages P&L for the team
• Maintain external focus on customers, competitors, investors, etc.
• Align the team with the company direction

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Candidates will have 10 years in User Experience management, including significant experience leading a world-class User Experience team within a multi-product organization. You should have a held a role as a Sr. Manager, Director, or VP (ideally) of a User Experience team.
* Candidate should have proven ability to lead the overall UX vision and mentor a talented product team and inspire team confidence and respect
* Candidates should have knowledge of human factors, user-centered design processes, interaction design guidelines, usability methodologies, industry standards and trends, both formal and informal usability testing methods, as well as a deep understanding of web technology and Enterprise Software.
* Candidates must have deep knowledge of the creative process involved in creating easy-to-use web applications, a passion for educating others, and the ability to instill these processes into our product development cycle.
* Candidates should be able to work at an executive level and exhibit motivation, drive, ambition, customer focus, enthusiasm and passion.
* The successful candidate must be capable of interacting with internal business customers and technology teams and outside providers and partners to identify innovation opportunities.
* The ideal candidate is a skilled problem-solver who inspires confidence and trust with internal staff and customers, with a strong sense of teamwork, active listening skills, and strong negotiation and influencing skills.
* Candidates should have a proven ability to source, hire, develop and retain the most talented people while empowering them to high performance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
