Job Summary:
The Job Developer is responsible for creating job opportunities for clients of Abilities United by effectively developing and maintaining relationships with prospective employers throughout the community. The Job Developer is also responsible to prepare his/her clients for jobs by coaching them in the areas of interview skills, appropriate attire and professional etiquette.

The ideal candidate will have a background in sales or recruiting and is an excellent problem solver with outstanding customer service skills and a passion for developing job opportunities for individuals with developmental and other disabilities. She or he will display a professional demeanor at all time and possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
High school or equivalent required. BA/BS in psychology, social services, vocational rehab., business or related field preferred.
Minimum 2 years providing direct service to individuals with developmental disabilities strongly desired. Proven track record of success providing service in vocational rehabilitation / work adjustment, job development & placement, and/or a minimum of three years of full cycle recruitment. A background in marketing or sales and contract negotiation strongly desired; sign language or Spanish highly desirable; moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Substitution:
Equivalent (5 + years) related work experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.

Other:
Communicate clearly & effectively verbally & in writing; project a positive & professional image at all times; must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Knowledge of current practices and trends in the delivery of service to developmentally disabled persons and knowledge of the principles of staff supervision and development, program planning and evaluation required. Exercise maturity, judgment and skills in development and maintaining interpersonal relations. Proof of valid driver's license and current automobile insurance required.

Pre Employment Requirements: Clearance with the Department of Justice by completing a background check consisting of having fingerprints processed by appropriate law enforcement agencies
Provide clean DMV printout during interview process.

Post Employment Requirements: Physical, 2-step Tb test. Maintain all job related certification requirements.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS:
-Ability to drive
-Ability to assist clients in activities incl. kneeling, crouching, reaching and bending
-Ability to walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time
-Ability to push/pull objects up to 50 lbs, and lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs
-Ability to push large adults in wheelchairs
