Are you a mother with a daughter who is 10-14 years old? Have you had episodes of depression during adulthood?

If so, you may be eligible to participate in a study of how moms and their children think and process emotional information. The study takes place in the Psychology Department at Stanford University. You and your daughter would participate in interviews, fill out questionnaires, and have a scan taken of your daughter's brain.

Eligible mother-child pairs will receive $40/hour for their time. The study would last from 2-6 hours over the course of two or three visits. We will schedule the sessions around your availability (daytime, evenings, or weekends are all fine).

To be eligible for this study:

Ideal candidate for the nanny/family assistant position would be part time preschool teacher or college student/recent grad with a background in child development. Happy and balanced personality (not too "type-A" :-) , energetic (to keep up with our high energy little girl), self-starter, can work autonomously without much direction, very flexible (fine with things changing on a daily basis and can thrive in this environment), good asking questions, good communicator with parents, highly responsible and punctual, good computer skills and organizational skills.

This person needs to be comfortable and happy with organizing/clearing clutter and finding a "home" for it--approx 20% of the job will be helping pick up the house--putting toys, clothes away, filing paperwork, etc (no serious cleaning). About 10% of this position will include light housecleaning (putting dishes in dishwasher and some laundry). Another 20% of the time will be helping with household administrative tasks (bills, mail, etc).

Housecleaner position:

2/3 of time will be spent doing traditional housecleaning duties (traditional cleaning + picking up clutter) and 1/3 of time will be spent playing with our daughter.

We are conveniently located within a few blocks of 101/Embarcadero Road exit.

If this describes you, you may be eligible to participate in research looking at the ways in which people think, or process different kinds of situations, words, and pictures. The study takes place at Stanford University in the Psychology Department. Various parts of the study involve doing some activities on a computer, participating in an interview, and for some people, even having a picture taken of their brain. Depression Pilot Study - Paid (menlo park)

Participants with depression are needed for a Research Study. Omneuron, a clinical trial research company, is currently recruiting individuals diagnosed with depression that have not fully responded to an antidepressant medication to participate in a study to investigate feasibility for a treatment for depression that uses newly developed brain imaging methods to train participants to control their own brain activation. All participants in this study will receive cognitive training to change your mood. A central goal of the study is to measure brain activation patterns using an MRI scanner while participants use mental strategies to change mood.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Men and Women, ages 18-60 years

2. Clinically diagnosed with depression. Verification from a medical Doctor is REQUIRED to participate.
3. Been prescribed at least one antidepressant medication.

4. No implanted medical devices that are not compatible with MRI (spinal cord stimulator/pump, pacemaker, surgical aneurysm clip, stents etc)

5. No recent history of severe psychiatric illness other than depression or anxiety

6. Weight less than 220 lbs.

7. Able to be scanned in MRI without claustrophobia

8. No facial tattoos, non-removable metal implants, piercings, or extensive dental work.

9. Not pregnant or having fertility treatments

10. Able to read and understand English

Additional screening criteria for MRI safety may be required

Procedure

This is an experimental procedure. We cannot and do not imply that this study will lead to a decrease in your depressive symptoms.

Location

Participants MUST be able to attend 3 visits in Menlo Park, CA. We reimburse for travel time within the Bay Area.

Compensation

Eligible participants will receive cash compensation for their participation (i.e. travel time, questionnaires, and all time in scanner). For your time and inconvenience, you will be paid $30/hour for the MRI portions of the study and $10/hour for all other times related to the study.

The study involves a single session, lasting 4 hours. Are your fears and worries interfering with your life?

If this describes you, you may be eligible to participate in research looking at the ways in which people think, or process different kinds of situations, words, and pictures. The study takes place at Stanford University and involves computer activities, participating in a detailed interview, and an fMRI brain scan.

Eligible participants will receive $25/hr for their time.

Are you a mother with a daughter who is 10-14 years old? Have you had episodes of depression during adulthood?

If so, you may be eligible to participate in a study of how moms and their children think and process emotional information. The study takes place in the Psychology Department at Stanford University. You and your daughter would participate in interviews, fill out questionnaires, and have a scan taken of your daughter's brain.

Eligible mother-child pairs will receive $40/hour for their time. The study would last from 2-6 hours over the course of two or three visits. We will schedule the sessions around your availability (daytime, evenings, or weekends are all fine).
