Premier Silicon Valley recruiting firm that uses only senior executives to lead every candidate search is searching for experienced business leaders to help us expand our business. Our core customer value proposition is that our recruiters are not or “career” recruiters at all, but rather are experienced functional (sales, marketing, finance, engineering, etc.) executives with lengthy track records and a history of building great teams. We are growing (even in this economy) and are looking to grow our team of consulting executives.
Let’s face it, career recruiters cannot possibly know what it takes to build a successful direct or channel sales organization, or what it takes to thrive in a contentious board meeting or any of the other things that long-time operating executives have learned through the school of hard knocks. Those who have not lived “in industry” simply recruit by matching keywords on the job description to keywords on candidate resumes. Then they throw those candidates over the fence to the hiring manager.
We believe that this traditional recruiting approach offers very little value. That is why we use only long-time industry executives to do all of our candidate resume vetting, phone screening and in-person interviewing. When we pass a candidate to a client that person is thoroughly vetted. This guarantees our client has the best possible outcome, with us doing the heavy lifting and the client only spending time interviewing highly appropriate candidates.

Due to the ebb and flow of our customer’s needs this job is perfect for consultants who already have existing clients and are looking to add another client, us. We currently have a cadre of consulting functional professionals and are looking to expand our coverage in each functional area. Our hiring areas for clients include CXX/VP to entry-level in every function: CEO/GM, CFO, CAO/Controller, Treasury, Sales (direct and channel), Business Development, Marketing (inbound and outbound), Engineering (hardware, software and firmware), Operations, Manufacturing and others.
Job duties:
- Work with client to craft the perfect job description for each opening (starting with job-specific templates we supply).
- Work with our dedicated sourcing and recruiting staff (as well as the principals) to direct online job placement and sourcing strategies such as targeting specific Linkedin or other online communities, searching within specific companies, etc. Each search has a dedicated team of sourcers and recruiters supporting you.
- Vet all incoming resumes via our online candidate management system. Move interesting candidates through the system and provide feedback to the sourcing team to improve hit rates. This is all managed via online tools with automated workflow.
- Have phone interview with all candidates who show promise and whose professional background you want to know better.
- Have in-person interview with your initial finalist candidates to gain a more in-depth, personal understanding of the candidate’s strengths and weaknesses.
- Present candidate(s) to client. Have your dedicated internal recruiter set up interviews with client/candidate(s).
- Gather feedback from both parties post-interview. Adjust job description, sourcing and approach as necessary.
- Work on client’s behalf to close their desired candidate.
Desired background:
- Came from industry (that is, not a career consultant), but now a part or full-time consultant
- VP or CXX for 5+ years in industry. This is a must – we only use long-time VPs or CXXs. If that is not you, please do not apply
- Must have created multiple, successful teams at a variety of companies
- Variety of industries is a plus but not required
- Public and private company experience a plus but not required
- Recently retired (w/in 5 years) is fine
- We will check references from both your full-time and contract experience
