EMPATHETIC AND HONEST COMMUNICATION (NVC)*

Introductory Workshop with Skill-Building

Saturday, November 21st in Woodside (10am-6pm)

with Ursula Duncan (Counselor/Coach, Mediator, Trainer)

(Space limited to 10 for individualized learning; Sign up now to get a spot!)

~ Do you want to polish your diamond and make your personal relationships even better than they already are?
~ How about your professional relationships?
~ Do you want to learn practical tools you can use every day?

At this workshop you’ll learn how to speak and listen in a way that supports constructive dialogue, no matter what the context. Empathetic and Honest Communication (also known as Nonviolent Communication or NVC – see below)* is based on the international mediator and Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Dr. Marshall Rosenberg’s work. Over the last 42 years millions worldwide have transformed their lives using NVC. It offers powerful, positive ways to interact with people, whether they’re your teen, a co-worker, an ex-wife, a street person or a Board Member. It helps you move from “right-wrong” thinking, to empathic connection and win-win solutions.
Ursula Duncan has studied NVC extensively with Dr. Rosenberg for 15 years and has used it professionally for 12. Nine years ago she was selected to be his Personal Assistant, but had to reluctantly decline for serious health reasons. She is passionate about NVC both personally and professionally. She uses this model as a Coach, Mediator, Counselor, and Trainer and works with everyone from children to business leaders. Ursula is considered to be engaging, funny, down-to-earth, deep and gets rave reviews.

*NVC stands for Nonviolent Communication, the original name for this model of communication (coined during the Civil Rights Movement, ala MLK and Gandhi). It is also called Empathetic and Honest Communication, a name most of us prefer. Most of us don't like thinking of our language as "violent," even though we sometimes make harsh judgments and criticisms. NVC is the abbreviated way of referring to this nonjudgmental, compassionate way of relating to yourself and others.
