We are developing a large US state-based information product with some 100+ data nodes. Think everything anyone might want to know about a US state: history, government, climate and weather, demographics, public and private schools, parks, environment, notables, maps, photos, and more. Students, teachers, administrators and others will use the content for school reports, relocation evaluation, research, etc.
We need someone who is first and foremost a professional writer and second, in possession of significant experience or connection to religious topics. For example: a professional writer with a degree in theology, or a professional writer who is or was a minister or priest. Please note our emphasis on “professional” writer. Writing sermons for 20 years does not necessarily make you a professional writer.
The job is to write 56 articles of 1800 to 2000 words on a series of topics related to religion in each individual US state and territory. Topics include religious history of the state, religious movements started or developed in the state, current religious composition of the state, and religion in public life in the state. We have a project specification sheet, a comprehensive outline and some source material to work from. If you have a religious axe to grind or are intolerant of other religious beliefs, this is not right job for you.
We pay by the word. At the moment we can pay $0.06 per word for virtually 98% ready to go copy (requiring only a brief copy edit), or $0.05 per word for editorial that requires a medium copy edit. This works out to about $110 to 120 per article. Also, we need to get at least three articles a week. We’re open to having two people work on the project.
