Only 6 miles to nearest winery and 20 minutes to both Napa and the historic town of Winters. You can view deer and wild turkey from the deck. Plus look out over the valley of Napa county and overlook Lake Berryessa. Lake Berryessa's water reaches temperatures of up to 75 degrees in the summer, making it an ideal place for water sports. This 4 bedroom house on 1/4 acre is just a minute from the lake, and a 20 minute drive to Napa and the vineyards. Boat parking too. Anglers enjoy fishing for both cold and warm water species, such as rainbow trout, bass, catfish, crappie, and bluegill.

The house is locxated in Agate Bay, between Squaw and Northstar for skiing. If the snow is not here yet, this is a great place to spend a beautiful Fall weekend hiking the nearby woods and sightseeing around the Lake. Come home to a huge HOT SPRINGS Spa under the stars in the back yard. There are lots of board games and books to occupy the kids.
The dining table seats 10 for turkey dinner. OR make reservations at Gar Woods restaurant down at the lake, 2 blocks away.
The house is on 1/3 acre, fenced lot. Bring up to 2 dogs, too.

is a beautiful five bedroom, one and a half bath riverfront home. This classic Russian River home was built in 1938 as a vacation property and maintains it's original charm. The large living room offers original hardwood floors and a rock fireplace. The main level has two queen bedrooms and one full bath with a shower. The livingroom has french doors leading out to a deck with an outdoor dining table and river views. The living room and bedroom are separated by a fully-equipped galley kitchen with black granite counters, cook top stove, a microwave/convection oven and a refrigerator. Lace curtains adorn the French doors and windows.

I just read a bed time story to my daughter Lucienne upstairs on the deck as the sun was setting and the bats were starting to emerge. Now we are reading and writing by candle light as the crickets sing outside. All is quiet. Our week here has passed too quickly. It took three days to slow down from city life to this pace. A month would be ideal. Ah well at least we get to camp in Big Sur on the way back to LA. Thanks Ken for the lovely cabin, the ripe tomatoes and peaches and the good tips. Brassfield winery was gorgeous. Blue Lakes was so refreshing. And best of all the jug of water straight from the mountain. I wish I could fill the car with water jugs and take that home with us. 05/07/09 Positive Precious Forest is a great get away place to go for peace and quiet. We took our family for a mini vacation and although it was only a few days, it felt so much longer. The cabin is cozy and is majestically surrounded by beautiful trees and the blue sky. We had a very relaxing and fun get away. We enjoyed nights playing chess and cooking and spending quality time with our children. We also saw deers, turkeys and lots of birds nearby. When we returned home, I woke up the next day expecting to see the forest again if you can take that with you, then you know you had a great time! Thanks Ken and your brother for always making sure we were o.k. Wed love to return again.

04/28/09 Positive We have been to The Cabin twice now & both times we have had wonderful adventures. We love The Cabin(we think of it as our private getaway). Whenever we feel the need to recharge we start talking about The Cabin. We fell in love with the antique cook stove-it is fun & amazingly easy to use-at first we thought we'd only be eating cold food :). It is beautiful & peaceful on the mountain, & you feel you've left all your cares behind. Ken is a wonderful host, & goes above & beyond to make sure your stay is a wonderful experience that you won't forget. He built this cabin as a labor of love & it definately shows.

04/02/09 Positive This cabin was awesome, and like the previous comment, was the perfect blend of comfort and rustic. It is a 5 mile drive up a dirt road, so it is away from everything, but not too bad of a drive.
The Clearlake area is great; we tried and recommend Rosa D' Oro and Wildhurst wineries.
Ken (the caretaker) did a great job, and we heavily reccomend Precious Forest.

It was incredibly quiet and private. At night, the stars filled the sky because there was virtually no ambient light. There is hiking available further up Bartlett Springs Road at Pinnacle Rock. We liked Ceago Winery on 20E just down the hill from the cabin. Wilbur Hot Springs is just one hour east from the cabin--perfect for a day trip. The owner and caretaker were very helpful.

02/24/09 Positive Our stay at the Precious Forest cabin was PERFECT. We went there to get away from our busy schedule-- and spend a romantic weekend together, and that is exactly what we got. The cabin is beautifully made, and makes you feel as if you are far far away from the real world. The cabin has many windows in every room which was an extra bonus to be able to see the beautiful views as we were eating, sleeping, or just hanging out on the coach.
We had a wonderful time, and look forward to visiting the cabin again.

02/09/09 Positive My wife and I spent a lovely weekend in this isolated mountain cabin. The cabin itself is gorgeous - it is quite obvious that a lot of time and love went into building it. The weekend in the mountain truly felt like an escape from everyday life. We visited during the middle of winter, but the heater kept us warm and there was plenty of hot water. There was also loads of wildlife that we could see from the big windows in the cabin. Even our small dog loved the weekend getaway! We will no doubt be back for another visit.

A short drive from San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area, there are more than fifteen vineyards / tasting rooms within walking distance (~ 1 mile) of our little cottage and another twenty plus wineries within biking distance (~3-5 miles). If you are coming for the wine, you have picked the right location. Start by enjoying a complimentary bottle of Mayo Family Wine the day you arrive. Youre likely to want to visit the local tasting rooms and buy some more once you have tried it. They are our local favorite. Have more than just wine on your mind? Sonoma Valley is alive with activities and places to go. Visit nearby Mortons Warm Springs for a swim and picnic by the creek, spend the day out on the coast and have dinner with a view of the ocean, take a bike ride and enjoy the picturesque local scenery or go for a hike in nearby Jack London park or Sugarloaf Ridge park. Sugarloaf is also home to the Robert Ferguson Observatory where you can spend an evening star gazing. Hike Mount Baldwin, enjoy the majestic views of Northern California and spy Golden Gate Bridge on a clear day. Sonoma Square is just a 15 minute drive and you can usually a major event going on each weekend. We have put together a book of activities which you can enjoy while staying at our peaceful cottage with each activity rated by amount of time required. This idyllic cottage rests on a year round creek in the historic Adobe Canyon and is situated in a bucolic setting. With private gardens, luminous canyon scenery and wildlife spilling through the cottage windows, you can walk to hiking trails that lead over bridges and waterfalls to spectacular vistas. Picnic at Sugarloaf Ridge or hike to bald mountain with 360 degree views of Northern California and the Golden Gate bridge. PLACES TO PLAY WTH YOUR DOG
Dog Friendly Ocean Beach Goat Rock Beach: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=451 Only 25 minutes away! This dog friendly beach is not to be missed. It is visually stunning so make sure you bring a camera! Bring warm clothes, because it is often cold and windy even in the summer time. Bring water for your pooch because there are no faucets and they will likely drink salt water by accident when playing fetch. If you have a water dog, bring a towel as well. But be careful, the currents are strong here and the waves are big, so swimming is not advised for dog or human.
How To Get There: Head west on River road (116) until Pacific Coast Highway 1. Then head south (past the smoked salmon guy) about 1 mile or so, the entrance is on the right. There are two alternatives for parking: You can park at the top of the cliffs and hike down a trail that descends in a zig-zag fashion to a large set of rough hexagonal stairs. This trail lets out right in the middle of the dog friendly beach. Or drive to the bottom and park nice and easy style.
Dog Friendly River Beach: Under the Bridge The water is warm, safe and shallow. A great place to let your dog swim or run in the shallow area to cool off in the river water. It is deep enough for people to swim as well. This is a great area to relax so bring flip flops, swim wear, towels and picnic food.
How To Get There: 20404 Church St, Monte Rio, CA. Head east on River road until you get to Monte Rio. At the fork in the road, veer left. You should see Bloomers nursery just right of the parking lot. The dog area is everything right of the bridge.
RESTAURANTS
This house is very close to downtown Guerneville so you are just minutes from some fabulous restaurants. But take this advice, Duncan mills (population 58) has some great little places to eat. It is 20 minute away, but well worth it.

We also have other special features such as the large rain-forest bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and if desired, in-home massage for one or two.
The living room has a full library that includes a 150 volume wine book collection, a 600 volume cookbook collection, a full reference library, and 100's of best selling novels and biographies. The entertainment center has a terrific receiver with collectible Altec Lansing speakers and is cabled for an iPod as a sound source if you want to bring your own music. We also have available a 110,000 song iTunes Library. The bedrooms have queen beds and high-definition TV's. The sofa in the living room converts to a queen-size bed; thus six people can comfortably sleep here. The kitchen is compact but complete - stove with oven, refrigerator, and microwave. There is also a mini-gym with Total Gym machine.
There is a full laundry for your use.
Guerneville - an unincorporated town of about 2500 - is about halfway between Santa Rosa and the Pacific Ocean - approximately hour either way - on the right (north) bank of the Russian River. A great ride is west on highway 116 to Jenner, and then south on Route 1 to Tomales Bay and our favorite oyster houses. There are lots of fun things to do in the area - varying from kayaking on the river to theater and the local night spots.
Armstrong Woods State Park is just 2 miles away, with nature trails, picnic facilities, and horseback riding. There are at least eight wineries with tasting rooms between here and Santa Rosa.
Downtown Guerneville is large (compared to, say, Rio Nido) - about 4 blocks square. There is a 24/7 Safeway (looks like every other Safeway, but the people are friendly locals). There are good restaurants nearby - a good resource is the local Russian River Chamber of Commerce.
