Responsibilities:<br>
	Manage the Calix Compatible lab infrastucture.  This lab consists of a video headend consisting of third party equipment which includes; video encoders, routers, switches, middleware servers and VOD servers.  <br>

	Perform interoperability testing between Calix and third part vendor equipment, and create reports which are shared with Calix customers in order to ensure a smooth deployment of services in the field.<br>

	Installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the hardware and Linux operating system, including coordinating support and repairs with vendors.
<br>
	Responsible for supporting users in all workstation applications from common Linux open-source tools for email, office productivity, integrated development environments, and command-line utilities.
<br>
	Advanced level end-user support for issues in Linux, and assisting the Windows and Mac OSX support administrators as required in times of urgent need.
<br>
	Troubleshoot workstation performance issues, including software, operating system, network and server access components.
<br>
	Resolve both hardware and software problems in a positive and friendly manner in the presence of, and in co-operation with, the user.
<br>
	Escalate trouble tickets in queue to appropriate resources and follow up to ensure timely completion.
<br>
	Research, test and support solutions to workstation system and user level cross-platform interoperability issues such as access control and authentication, printing, mail server, and operating system and application differences in various network file sharing protocols.

	Assist in moves and changes for computers and phones.

<b>Qualifications:</b>
<br><br>
	3-5 years experience in an administrative/support role within a Linux/Unix environment, preferably supporting a film production or visual effects studio environment.
<br>
	Experience with high-end (multi-core/proc) workstation hardware, operating systems (64bit), and multi-media software applications, and with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 or 5 Desktop/Server or related distro (Fedora, CentOS).
<br>
	Extensive experience with a variety of Unix/Linux productivity, multimedia software, and command line tools and utilities, e.g. Evolution, emacs/vim, qt, yum/rpm, X11, VNC, GNU tools and utilities, iostat, mpstat, vmstat. 
<br>
	Familiar with mixed Windows/Unix/Linux backend infrastructure with Windows Active Directory/LDAP, Exchange, DNS, and DHCP.
<br>
	Must have strong shell scripting skills in a bourne shell environment.
<br>
	The ability to organize and prioritize changing needs and requests in a fast-paced environment.
<br>
	Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
<br>
	Must be available for on-call duties during nights and weekends on a rotational basis, and to work effectively during non-business hours with minimal supervision. 
<br>
	Maintain a proactive, visible presence with other studio teams and follow-through on solving complex support issues including any and all necessary research, testing, and implementation. 
<br>
	Possess a B.S., ideally in CS or related field, or substantial equivalent real-world experience.

<b>Pluses:</b>
<br><br>
	Familiarity with server class hardware running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (or related distro) serving custom kickstart and repository services. 
<br>
	Management of users, policies and file permissions on Windows servers.
<br>
	Familiarity with managing user data in a cross-platform shared storage environment, e.g. Windows/Linux on NetApp, Isilon, EMC via NFS/CIFS.
<br>
	Experience teaching or training others in the ways of Unix/Linux.
<br>
	Familiarity with cfengine, kickstart/jumpstart, nagios, or cacti.
<br>
	Programming experience, preferably in Python.
<br>
	Familiarity with common software applications and tools for Windows/Mac, e.g. Outlook, Photoshop, Putty, Microsoft Office. 
<br>
	Experience supporting highly technical engineers in a cross-platform development environment.
