Small AV rated bankruptcy firm seeks full time associate with 3-7 years relevant experience for sophisticated regional insolvency practice. Typically, we have a major role in most large Chapter 11 cases filed in the North Bay, and we regularly represent Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Trustees in the San Francisco and Santa Rosa bankruptcy courts. Much of our practice is complex commercial litigation in the context of bankruptcy court adversary proceedings. We do not handle debtor or creditor representation in consumer bankruptcy cases.
We prefer, but do not require, a candidate with bankruptcy experience and first-chair trial experience. The ideal candidate must have integrity, a strong work ethic compatible with an outside life, some federal court litigation experience, top-level analytical skills, and outstanding writing ability; i.e., the ability to explain to a judge what you want and why you should get it in the first 250 words of your brief, as opposed to spending the first five pages ("the Introduction") advising the Honorable United States Bankruptcy Court ("the Court") that you are filing this Memorandum of Points and Authorities ("the Brief") seeking certain relief for which he or she has subject matter jurisdiction to grant, provided that he or she isn't asleep by the time you tell them what that might be. Wit and poise are mandatory requirements as well.
