POSITION OVERVIEW:
Provide residential advocacy at Napa County Adult Residential Care Facilities.
Provide a opresence at "People Empowering People"
Assist clients to get and retain housing. Act as a Relief Advocate: Prepare and represent inpatients at hearings, assist patients with temporary conservatorship objections. Receive, investigate, and resolve complaints of violations of Patients' Rights laws and regulations.
Monitor as contractually required or per monitoring protocol. Participate in planning of in-services and training of providers and community. Attend monthly Advocates meetings. Meet monthly reporting requirements, including timesheets bimonthly, expenses, hearing logs and Title IX logs.
Additional duties as agreed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Qualifications: 2 years of education related to legal or consumer advocacy [possible substitute for work experience].
Willingness to obtain intense on the job training including the yearly mandated State Patients' Rights training.
Knowledge of California statutes and regulations pertaining to patients' rights advocacy and certifiction review hearings and capacity hearings is desirable. Knowledge of fair housing laws and regulations and tenants' rights.
Consumer provider training is desirable.
Work or volunteer experience: 6 months experience in legal or consumer advocacy.
Must possess a valid California driver's license and use of an insured automobile.
Must pass a criminal background check.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
This is a part-time 10 hr. residential advocate position, which will also be a relieft on-call as needed position, providing hearing representation at designated facilities in Contra Costa and Napa counties.
