Engineering Manager - Water Resources
Annual Salary: $96,720.00 - $116,355.20

The Engineering Manager - Water Resources is responsible for the management of the Water Resources Division within the Department of Public Works.

Example of Duties:
Plan, supervise, direct and oversee the work activities of subordinate employees; provide training to new and existing subordinate staff; manage the work activities of subordinate employees; establish consistent performance standards and expectations throughout the Water Resources Division; complete employee performance evaluations and probationary reports to document and/or correct employee behavior; verbally explain to staff work projects and assignments; monitor staff compliance with procedures and policies; prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to various County boards, commissions or committees to ensure all are well informed of various Water Resources projects and outcomes; manage the day-to-day operations for assigned services and activities for the State Water Project contract; manage the day-to-day operations for assigned services and activities for small water and wastewater districts including the Lake Berryessa Resort Improvement District; manage the day-to-day operations for assigned services and activities for special water resources projects in the County including storm water, recycled water, potable water and waterway projects; develop policies and procedures; perform long-term and short-term planning of program activities; establish, within County policy, appropriate services and staffing levels for assigned areas; participate in the development of the work unit budget for each assigned service area; provide staff assistance to the Deputy Director of Public Works – Flood Control and Water Resources by presenting staff reports and other necessary correspondence; manage architect/engineering professional services contracts; coordinate the selection and supervision of private professional engineers and architects for the development of plans, specifications, studies and reports; prepare and review consultant agreements and construction documents and contracts; work with other government agencies to ensure that engineering plans are integrated with County plans; assist in monitoring and evaluating other agency plans and projects providing input and comments on behalf of the County; serve as the liaison for an assigned engineering division with other divisions, departments, outside agencies and the private sector regarding complex water resources projects; prepare contracts and Board agenda items; and respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.

To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A desirable combination is:

Experience:
Six years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience including four years of administrative and supervisory experience.

Education:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.

License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
