Purpose Statement:
(General Description) The Director of Information Technology is responsible for providing leadership and vision, as a member of the District management team, for information technology (IT) initiatives and functions that support the mission and goals of the College of Marin. Working with the College's leadership, the Director of Information Technology leads strategic planning efforts in academic and administrative computing and provides management and leadership of all IT-related matters. Essential Functions:
-Provides leadership for IT initiatives and functions that support the mission and goals of the College of Marin.

- Creates a resource acquisition and management strategy for needed capital and operational investment in IT infrastructure and services, develops and cultivates entrepreneurial strategic relationships with internal and external partners, works with appropriate collaborators to build policies and standards needed to achieve an integrated IT environment, and promotes a customer-service orientation within the Information Technology Department.

- Leads the College's technology infrastructure, IT strategic planning efforts (aligned to institutional priorities), and all related IT programs and services for the institution's main and satellite campuses. The Director of Information Technology is expected to provide visionary leadership for technology-related initiatives and services that support student learning, faculty teaching, scholarship, and administrative processes.

- In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the following physical, mental and other abilities are required in order to perform the essential functions of this classification: complex data comparison, analysis, and synthesis; attention to detail; public speaking to small and large groups; persuasive communication; negotiation; multi-tasking; flexibility; adaptability; tact and sensitivity.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Previous experience in higher education management that has included curriculum and student support program development; supervision and evaluation of staff; budget development and implementation; and sound fiscal management.
- Previous experience as an instructor, counselor or related faculty position.
- Demonstrated skill in written communication, including policy and procedures development, and reporting.
- Demonstrated skill in oral communication, including public speaking.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous experience in information technology leadership that has included information technology program development; information technology operations; strategic planning; coordinating the work of staff; and experience in budget development and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Thorough knowledge and background in a broad range of information technology areas, including academic and administrative computing, instructional technologies, ERP software solutions, and information security.
- Thorough knowledge of academic institutions and best practices in technology in peer institutions.
- Working knowledge of the State and Federal codes, statutes and regulations that govern California community college instructional and student learning programs, including those relevant to the role of the Academic Senate in issues of participatory governance.
- Demonstrated skill in participatory governance and collaboration with faculty and administrative staff.
- Demonstrated skill in written communication, including reporting and funding proposals.
- Demonstrated skill in oral communication, including public speaking and group meeting facilitation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a management team.

Position Requirements:
1.) A Master's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field; OR
2.) A Bachelor's degree and equivalent work experience in supervising an IT organization; AND
3.) Applicants must have a record of proven success in positions of increasing responsibility in a highly technical organization, with at least five years at a senior level; AND
4.) Extensive experience in public contacts that has demonstrated skill in respectful and sensitive communication with people who are diverse in their cultures, language groups, abilities, lifestyle and backgrounds; AND
5.) Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Working Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions requires the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; and significant reaching. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, a generally hazard free environment, and in a clean atmosphere.

The successful candidate will initially be placed between $99,194 and $121,996 annually. Background and experience will determine placement.
