I'm a planner, and I'd like to see what my options for next year will be. My boyfriend and I are planning on moving in together, and I want to make sure I can choose a place for us while he's in the States, since he's planning on studying abroad this summer.

As of Summer 2010, I'll be a third year English major, creative writing minor at UC Berkeley, and will be graduating in the Spring of 2011. My boyfriend will be a third year Astrophysics and Russian Studies double major, with a minor in Education. As you can imagine, with me graduating early and his two majors, we do very little but study.

In terms of housing, we're looking for a studio or one bedroom apartment, or a single bedroom in a shared apartment. Because we have a hamster (very quiet and clean, as most hamsters are), we'd need to be allowed a pet. As far as costs go, the less expensive the better :D. We can pay $1000 at most, and we'd love it if utilities were included. Proximity to UC Berkeley is preferred, but anything near a bus stop that leads to Berkeley would be amenable - North Berkeley, Berkeley, Albany, or Emeryville especially.

I know I'm thinking ahead, but I just want to make sure that we'll be able to find housing for me during summer school while he's in Russia for the summer.

Hey,

I'm looking for one or more fun guys to live with starting sometime in December. I moved to San Francisco in August to start a job and have been subletting since then to get a feel for the city. Having been around town for a bit, I've decided that who I live with is more important than where I'd live. What's important to me though is to have a not too difficult commute into the Financial District so the Marina, Cow Hollow, Russian Hill, North Beach, Telegraph Hill, Pacific Heights, and Nob Hill are all fine by me, but I'd also be open to other areas.

I am 23 years old and work for a financial services company. During the week I work pretty standard corporate hours and also play basketball a few nights a week. On the weekends I like to go out and have a good time as well as just relax. I�m always down to have people over whether it's to just hang out or pregame/postgame when going out.

If you are a typical early-mid 20's guy we'll probably get along just fine. I'm a fan of pretty much any sport, playing or watching, and will be joining at least a team or two in the spring. I'm considering moving into a hotel when I move from my apartment, but would prefer to live in a roommate situation.

I don't need much space and almost everything I have will be in storage. A place big enough for a twin bed is fine which I can furnish or I'll use yours - either way is fine.

I'm looking to pay $100 to $200 per week - depends on size and location. If we decide to convert to monthly I'm fine with $500 to $800 per month.

I gave 30 days notice at where I live now and have been for over 4 years. I have always to been the master tenant usually had a roommate.
I always offered weekly to start with and if things worked out then we would go to monthly.

Alternatively, if things did not work out then there would be no hard feelings and we would just go our separate ways. In some cases I would let them spend a few days for free, just to make sure everyone was happy - that is not an expectation I have here, it is just something I happen to do.

I would also tell them that occasional overnight guest were fine. I expect the same offered to me, but it won't be like someone is living with me.

I also tell them that their friends are welcome to come over and visit. I expect the same on that as well - in my case it will be Diana and Lise that will come by an stay for periods of time. They are great people and you will like them.

I don't smoke, but have lived around smokers most of my life and it does not bother me if you do. I'm 420 friendly, but don't smoke it myself.

I am open to many areas so long as they are within San Francisco. I have a car, but parking is not necessary.

I have excellent credit, deposit is not a problem and lots of references.

I'm a mid-thirties wannabe farmer from the working class who will never have the money to buy land or equipment. Between observing my friends' three year old farm, doing an apprenticeship on a fruit farm, and living in the country for 6 months now, I've observed that farming is a really expensive undertaking that can lead to a poor quality of life if there aren't enough people involved.

I'd like to work with people who have or want to start an organic or beyond-organic farm. I'd like to raise pastured poultry for eggs and meat, and to eventually grow as much of their feed as possible. I'd love to work with others on these projects, as well as growing most of our own food.

About me: I'm 34, female, a college graduate and Latin Americanist of sorts. I'm living on a farm in California's Yolo County that is owned by a man with Alzheimer's who hasn't taken much care of the place in the last decade- it's pretty depressing, and I don't think it is a good place to invest much energy into. I eat really healthy (few food vices) and intend to keep eating that way. I do eat meat, but not fish. I need a lot of personal time/space, but I do value having others right nearby. I lived somewhat polyamorously with my cityboy partner for 5 years until this spring, when I had to get out of the city. I currently have an office job and it needs to end. I like to take pictures. I only have dialup these days and need high-speed internet.

I grew up on the east coast and would rather not live in a place that has cold winters. I love hot weather, and have experienced plenty of cold and ice. I read a lot.

I am a medical cannabis patient. I'd like to be able to grow my own, at least in the summer. I am pretty anal about cleanliness around the house, and I have multiple chemical sensitivities, so I'd rather have my own living space. I am very interested in natural building, and of course in building housing for poultry and other animals, although I think I have more skills than tools, and that's not saying much. Greetings CL family,

I am 35 year old fellow with a college degree in English from JMU in my home state of VA. I am more than happy to share about my background over email if so desired�

I just finished last week helping out at a meditation center near Kelseyville (Lake County, CA) as we hosted about 40 people in our opening 10 day course.

I moved to the Bay area on Thurs. and am ready to stick around for some time before heading to a new center being built near Joshua Tree outside of LA.

Some of my favorite activities are to volunteer in the community, read books (Thich Nhat Hanh, Neal Stephenson, Anastasia, Daniel Quinn, Howard Zinn etc..), listen to music (every kind imaginable), correspond on my laptop w/ friends, and to converse with diverse groups of people about current events, the arts, spirituality, and many other topics.

I can cook (I have some simple and healthy vegan/vegetarian recipes that can feed upwards of 60 people), clean, and help people in a variety of ways since I practice compassionate listening and regular meditation.

According to my friends, coworkers, and former bosses - I am reliable, flexible, honest, creative, and I have a great sense of humor.

And yes I meditate everyday to balance my mind. The silent one-hour sittings typically happen in the early morning and evenings. Needless to say I am quiet, clean, and non-everything (drink, smoke etc.).

The meditation practice, combined with yoga, leaves me very relaxed all the time, and able to deal with any situation that arises in a calm and collected manner.

I get along with everyone I meet and I am nearly always in a positive mood. Additionally I practice tolerance, forgiveness, and compassion for all beings.

What I am looking for is a small (perhaps 6 x 10) space (furnished or non) to inhabit in exchange for supervising +/or tutoring schoolchildren, working as a gardener/landscaper to some degree, taking care of some of your meals/errands/shopping, or whatever else we can think of !

What makes me even more helpful to have around the house is the fact that I am a natural born organizer. I can not only manage material goods, but ideas and plans too. I love to organize and promote conscious gatherings amongst a diverse (age/race etc�) group of people who come together to share food, music, dance, and happiness.

Plus I am willing to house sit either short term or for 6 months about.

Hello all! I've received a few responses to my add and haven't responded as I should so I'm posting it one last time with some additions... I'm still looking, would love to find a great place soon!

I'm looking for a great, comfortable, clean place to call home in the Berkeley/North Berkeley/Rockridge/Temescal areas starting November 15th to December 1st. I'm originally from Berkeley and have just moved home after 3 years in LA. I work at an engineering firm from 8:00-4:30 M-F and am relatively busy. I'm an easy going guy - Friendly, responsible, outgoing, upbeat, tend to do my own thing, clean, communicative, trustworthy. I like all the regular things in life like movies, music, good food, cooking, coffee, quality beer, being active, spending time with family and friends, going on weekend trips when I can, meeting new people. The only problem I'm having in finding a great place is that I have a small dog... But she's not your ordinary dog! She's super small (15lbs), extremely QUIET (she never ever barks unless startled), CLEAN (she's hypoallergenic which means she doesn't shed, no dander), is VERY low maintenance, house trained like a champ and loves everyone and and everything. I understand the difficulty in finding a place owning a pet but she's really all positives and no negatives - And, she'll love you forever! Ideally I'd love to stay in the $600 - $800 range and am ready to get going soon as staying with family for over 3 months has been 3 months too long! Jk, but yeah.. it's that time. A few of my preferences are: To live with ONLY 1 or 2 others. I like the big living arrangements, but just trying to simplify things. Although I love kids, want kids someday I'd prefer to live simply with only adults... Don't know how else to say it. Don't mean it negatively, just not really the kind of situation I'm looking for right now.

If you have a dog that's even better, since ours loves company. But no cats, please, since I have severe allergies.

Where we'd like to live: Location is important. We'd really like to live somewhere fairly central, with good public transportation options, on a nice street, walkable. No sketchy neighborhoods, and the less fog, the better. We're looking for a beautiful place to live. The apartment has to be large enough to accommodate all of us comfortably. Ideals: an enclosed outdoor space for the dog to run around in, hardwood floors, lots of windows & sun and a great kitchen with a dishwasher. Something nicer than the usual cookie-cutter apartment. Someplace to park our car would also be great- we'd be very happy to find a place where street parking is not impossible. And if you have an established house already, we'd like at least some space in the common areas to put our own furnishings.

I am looking for my own studio apartment/share apartment/house/room I am currently living in residential weekly hotels set ups but looking for my own place. I receive fixed permanent monthly SSDI benefits permanent of $1682.00 a month and price range 600-800 total is within my budget. I have just moved in in another hotel this week and paid through the 23rd move out. I am financially limited the deposit is an issue. I get paid around 29th ( I think will be 27th this month) I can pay the rent then. I am staying in SOMA now on 5th and Folsom and need a place. I set up the storage and truck for the 23rd to make sure my stuff is secure and as for me will more likelydo dorm type place for a week or so till I have the money. Hi,

I'm a single dude looking for a room in SOMA. Currently, I'm paying 2100.00 a month for a two bed room nifty condo, have a roommate who pays 600 a month, I pay the rest. The problem is, I got a car, a cat, a 52" HDTV, kick ass stainless steel cookware, a bose surround sound system, a ton of computer stuff (I have an office here), and so much more. The new place would have to be somewhat un-furnished, I'm the master tenant here so I've got a lot... I mean, a LOT of stuff! I even have a solar panel that cooks up 160 watts of usable electricity.

Personality wise, i'm thrifty, into biking, love wind surfing and/or kit boarding (the place would have to have some space for this as well. I care enormously about living in nice spaces and I am currently having to leave a very beloved & beautiful house in Upper Glenview due to a dissolving relationship. I have become very attached to this area of Oakland and would most prefer to stay nearby, or somewhere between here and my work. I am only willing to consider the Oakland neighborhoods I really like, and meanwhile I am highly selective about the charm, quality, and condition of any specific living place I will seriously consider ... so it can make for a difficult search.

I am a professional chef and pastry chef, 43 years old, and finding a home-kitchen I really enjoy spending time in is a big priority for me. Since my 20's I have always chosen bright dwellings with hardwood floors, period details, lots of windows and great natural light, pleasant kitchens with gas stoves and ample cabinet/counter space (and hopefully dishwashers), ample closet/storage space, and whenever possible, a dining nook or room. It is a long shot around here, but a nice ground-level kitchen with a door to the outside is what I like best - especially if I can keep a few potted herbs out that door.

I would ultimately like to find an older (1940's or before) 1 BR/1BA with either updated or very well-preserved kitchen/bath, with nice period trimmings like French doors, moldings, built-ins, big windows, etc. Generous rooms would be great and a dining area would be blessed. I also love functional fireplaces and big old bathubs (if there's a shower in the equation somewhere) but in my whole list of priorities, those two are bonus items, not necessities.

I don't smoke and I am a pretty quiet, private person, at home. I have a fondness for all kinds of music and Netflix movies, but I am very considerate of my neighbors, above all. I am sentimental about my posessions and although this life-change requires downsizing, I hope to achieve it without sacrificing any of the furnishings/gear I own and love.

I have a mountain bike, a 9' surfboard and a 12' sit-on-top kayak which I hope to keep with me, accessible for occasional use. I am leaving a private garage, where I have kept these things. I have dreams of adding a dog back to my life in the next few years, having lost an 11-year old last year. Before I do so I have some international travel plans to conquer, so the dog would not happen until at least mid-2011. It is only a modest theoretical consideration while I am looking right now - would be great if my dream-place also allowed a dog, but I am willing to sideline that dream in order to find the rest of what I'm seeking.

I would like whatever place I find to have laundry provisions, and preferably off-street parking. Parking is more negotiable than laundry, so long as street-parking is not in a ticketing nightmare.

I ask that you please read my post carefully if replying, because I am seeking a very particular kind of living situation and I will not budge on most of its particulars.
