New Village Press offers interns the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in book publishing through intensive work at a non-profit, public-benefit publisher. New Village publishes practical, inspirational non-fiction that contributes to the building of culturally vibrant, socially just, and ecologically sustainable communities. Interns will have opportunity to work in editorial, production, marketing, publicity and administration and are expected to provide general assistance throughout their stay. Depending on interests and skills, interns may be assigned specialized projects. In addition, interns will have opportunity to participate in local conferences and author/book events where New Village publications are presented.
Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication abilities are essential, as well as a general understanding of office management and task organization. Facility with word-processing, database, Internet and spreadsheet applications requested. A passion for publishing and the issues our press addresses is ideal.
Compensation:
New Village Press internships pay a $25 per day stipend plus local public transportation costs. Academic credit can also be arranged.
Internships range from 3 months to 9 months and can be full or part-time. Applications are accepted year-round.
