Sperm Donor (albany / el cerrito)

We did not think we would use craigslist to find a sperm donor, but you just never know. We are looking for a situation somewhat different from what most sperm banks offer. My partner and I are an educated lesbian couple living in the East Bay. We are seeking a sperm donor who would like to have some contact and relationship with the child, similar to an uncle role. We are NOT looking for a co-parenting situation; the donor would have no legal rights and no legal or financial responsibilities. We already have a lawyer to work out the necessary contracts. This would be a conceivable (no pun intended) situation for a man who would like to father a child and help another couple, and have some relationship with that child, but who is not looking to be a parent. We imagine contact could range from once a week to once every few months, depending on what worked for all of us. The reason we are seeking this kind of situation is that we do not want our child to always wonder who his or her biological father is, and we do not think finding out at age 18 is what would be best for a kid.

We are seeking someone in good emotional, spiritual, and physical health, who carries no significant genetic load of heritable diseases.

We know this is not a situation that would work for many people, but if you think it might work for you, please let us know, tell us something about yourself, and anything you'd like to know about us. If it seems like a possible match, we can of course continue to get to know each other beyond email.

Thanks!

I am a clinical psychology graduate student at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Live in Lake Merritt. Need two practice IQ test administrations. One for a child, one for an adult.
I can't provide any feedback. I won't be sharing scores or interpretations - I'm just a student practicing.
However, I can compensate an amount for your time if you'd prefer.
Otherwise, could just be fun. 1.5 - 3 hours for the test. Average around 2 hours.
Thank you. Contact Stephen at email above.

Volunteer opportunity-educational video-the politics of sustainability (oakland north / temescal)

Paradigm Shift--"in our lifetime"--Creating the Vision

"Seeding the Clouds: the politics of sustainability" is a proposed four-part educational video series that will envision how

we might accomplish and sustain this paradigm shift.

As outlined in our draft script, this paradigm shift will be the result of a disciplined intervention in the US political economy

through electoral politics. My experience and research has found behind the many challenges we face today, from endless

war to climate change, patterns of hypocrisy, reckless behavior and greed dating to the end of the civil war. On the whole,

"cool toys" notwithstanding, this collusion between government and industry has run roughshod over public interest.

"Seeding the Clouds" will uniquely address this history with policy, institutional and philosophical suggestions to bring

public interest explicitly into transparent and democratic policy development. The models we create will be inclusive and

positive.

Your support and help is urgently needed for this work to happen. You have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of

this visionary project. Volunteer help is needed for outreach and fund-raising. Success will bring paid work for a few

people. Skills that are specifically needed include:
Outreach/fundraising
Website Development/HTML
Social Networking

Good writing and editing skills are essential. Please be passionate about progressive political change.

The work will be face-to-face at my North Oakland live/work space to start.

For more information please checkout the website or call Dan Mattson at 510-658-2819.

"Seeding the Clouds" is a project of Galvanize Productions. Our 501(c)(3) sponsor is San Francisco based No Penny

Opera. Tax-deductible donations can be made directly on the website.

"Death is not the ultimate tragedy of life. The ultimate tragedy is depersonalization- dying in an alien and sterile area, separated from the spiritual nourishment that comes from being able to reach out to a loving hand, separated from the desire to experience the things that make life worth living, separated from hope." ...Norman Cousins, Anatomy of an Illness

--------
We are looking for Volunteers in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano Counties. Volunteers can bring their smile, "hello," and/or music to our patients who are facing end of their lives. Our patients with terminal cancer, heart disease, and other illnesses are in need of volunteers like you. Volunteers can use a wide variety of talents to brighten patient's lives.

- Musicians help distract and relax patients with pleasant memories.

- Clowns can brighten the day with fun and laughter.

- Magicians capture the patient's attention and make them smile.

- Massage therapists help patients relax with the simple touch of a hand.

- Beauticians help patients build self-esteem by making them feel pretty again.

- Lawyers can be of great help and comfort for patients who need help with legal matters.

- Handymen can perform tasks that patients are unable to do themselves.

- Florists can brighten the day with beautiful flower arrangements.

- Companion Volunteers simply spend time with the hospice patient. Companion Volunteer takes on the role of trusted friend, being there when the patient needs a listening ear, a hand to hold, or an open heart. Companion volunteer may give the patient emotional support, offer relief to a caregiver for a brief period of time, assist with practical tasks, or provide helpful services such as writing letters, reading and making phone calls.

- Vigil Volunteers are a group of caring compassionate volunteers was formed to provide a comforting presence to those patients in the final stage of their disease. The goal of the Vigil Volunteers is to ensure that "No patient shall die alone," and they consider it a special privilege to care for people at the end of their lives. Share your stories from life and much more!

- Bereavement Volunteers provide services for the family and friends for up to 13 months following the death of the loved one. At Aseracare Hospice our care does not stop with the patient. Grief is a normal reaction to the loss of a loved one, and this is a very difficult time for the survivors. Bereavement Volunteers are needed to assist family members after the death of a loved one for emotional support purposes.

We are also looking for volunteers in other areas:

- Office Assistant Volunteers are needed to assist the staff, volunteer coordinator, bereavement coordinator, social worker, administration support team, medical records, and other staff. Office Assistant Volunteers share their talents by working in the business office-making copies, filing, sorting, etc.

- Public speakers make presentations to clubs, churches and other organizations on numerous topics related to terminal illness, grief, death and dying as part of the Speaker's Bureau.

--------
Volunteers must be 18 years old or older, have a caring and compassionate heart, and a willingness to give a few hours a week of their time. Free training is provided. We have patients in most cities in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano Counties. You can volunteer in your area. Hours are flexible.

Women over 18-research questionnaire-judging men's attractiveness

Hi, my name is Jeff Snyder and I am a researcher at the UCLA Department of Anthropology. The survey includes photos of 30 men. You will be asked to rate the attractiveness of these men and answer some questions about you and crime.

You are eligible for participation if you are a woman over 18 years old. You do not have to be in a relationship to volunteer. Your responses are entirely anonymous and confidential.

It takes most women less than 10 minutes to complete this simple point-and-click survey. There is no compensation offered for completing the survey, however, your time and effort will contribute to answering important questions about individuals in society.
Volunteers are asked to visit once a week for about an hour and call a couple of times a week. Too many of our seniors are alone and lonely, will you help stop the isolation of our elders? Trainings for volunteers are held monthly, call 510 347-4620 x180 or seniorservices@davisstreet.org for more information about upcoming trainings.

YEAH! Shelter Volunteers Needed!!

Volunteers are the backbone of the community. Volunteers make it happen. They do fundraising, solicit in-kind donations, make connections with civic and religious and educational organizations and collaborate with social service agencies who can provide assistance to the street youth. Often this process gives volunteers the opportunity to deepen their understanding of individual life situations that result in youth homelessness.

Most importantly, volunteers provide the sense of community at YEAH!. They work with an experienced supervisor who is always on site. Volunteers who are at the shelter the same evening every week come to regard themselves as a team. Those with irregular schedules meet new people.

Volunteering at the shelter contributes to everyone's well being. Volunteers learn from youth, from their fellow volunteers and from the trainings provided by . In turn, youth have a warm bed, hot meals and a way of making connections with people from the wider community.

Current volunteer opportunities
In the shelter, we need volunteers to prepare and serve food and/or wash dishes, both morning (6:00-8:15 am) and evening (7:45-10:00 pm). Other volunteers are needed to interact with youth, hand out sleeping materials, assist with shower sign-ups and oversee the laundry. Both morning (6:00-8:15 am) and evening (8:15-10:15 pm) shifts are available. We also need volunteers to sleep overnight (10:00 pm to 6:00 am) at the shelter.

Upcoming Volunteer Orientations
* Monday, November 16, 2009, 6:00 pm
* Tuesday, December 1, 2009, 6:00 pm

Companion Hospice Volunteers needed in Vallejo-Benicia area (vallejo / benicia)

"You matter because you are you, and you matter until the last moment of your life. We will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die." -- Dame Cicely Saunders

"Death is not the ultimate tragedy of life. The ultimate tragedy is depersonalization- dying in an alien and sterile area, separated from the spiritual nourishment that comes from being able to reach out to a loving hand, separated from the desire to experience the things that make life worth living, separated from hope." -- Norman Cousins, Anatomy of an Illness

We are a Hospice agency and need Companion Volunteers who take on the role of trusted friend, being there when our hospice patients need a listening ear, a hand to hold, or an open heart. Volunteers may give the patient emotional support, offer relief to a caregiver for a brief period of time, assist with practical tasks, or provide helpful services such as writing letters, reading and making phone calls. Companion Volunteer simply spends some time with the hospice patient like a friendly visitor. Our patients with terminal cancer, heart disease, liver disease, and other illnesses are in need of visiting volunteers like you to say hello and that they matter until they die. You can make a difference by giving small gift of time along with your caring heart to our patients and/or their families. You can make a world of difference to someone in his/her final stage of life and to the family. You can make a difference, please contact us today.

Volunteers must be 18 years old or older, have a caring and compassionate heart, and a willingness to give a few hours a week of their time. Volunteer hours are flexible 7 days a week. Free training is provided. Our patients in Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville, Benicia, Suisun City, and surrounding areas need companion volunteers. You can volunteer in your area, and your help would be invaluable.

Please contact Zoe for more information. Thank you for considering our mission.

If you like to garden - we need help getting it going! Have most of the stuff - pots, heirloom seeds, irrigation hoses, timer, etc. - fencing to keep the critters out. Can always use more things if anyone is good with cuttings or growing fruit trees and things like grapes, etc. we have room to plant plenty. I have access to cuttings of some nice things too when the time's right. I'm thinking about trying some areas of a Japanese style that uses cardboard, hay and compost above the ground so you don't disturb the existing ecosystem. Am open to other ideas too. Also am looking for free materials to build a greenhouse for starting seeds and growing more year-round stuff - and a shed to keep the tools, etc. Have a dilapidated single garage on property that needs new roof and interior walls and could also be utilized - there's also a concrete slab next to it. I was thinking we could eventually get a free hot tub hooked up and make it really nice next to the garden and volunteers could enjoy it after working in the garden. Maybe get some solar panels to heat it with. I'm eventually planning to open a large healing/educational center that will include housing and free resources to those in need, when I can. Starting with this garden I want to make a little documentary about it and how it all came together and where it's all heading and host a "Garden Party" when it's all done (not that a garden is ever really done!) though it can show the steps it takes to make a nice garden where there isn't one, how fun and beautiful it turns out to be. There should be enough food produced to share with the volunteers or give excess to food shelves, or possibly arrange to sell some of it to raise funding for other projects. Very casual, flexible times - ongoing project. Walking distance to Del Norte BART.

At Diablo Valley School, students engage in activities of their own choice that interest them without the external pressure of grading and tests. Staff encourage students to find their own path and help students locate resources in order to facilitate their learning.
Interns get to learn about the practical implementation of democratic education in general and in particular what it means to run a school where students have equal say to the staff in all matters. Interns also get to participate and observe genuine learning that happens when individuals are driven by their own interests.
This internship is unpaid, but there is a possibility of a small stipend after a period of volunteering.

If parts of your skin have a stabbing, burning, shooting pain feeling, it could be a symptom of peripheral neuropathic pain.
Now consider this study of an investigational pain medication that's taken once a day.

Living with peripheral neuropathic pain (PNP) can be unpredictable and agonizing. You never know when it's going to strike, or how many times you'll have to deal with intensely painful sensations on a daily basis. If you experience pain when you touch something that shouldn't hurt, or if you have exaggerated pain when you touch something that should only cause a little pain, you may have PNP with mechanical hypersensitivity.

Although current pain relievers can often help relieve those symptoms, new treatment options are still needed today.

That's why local doctors are currently conducting GRIZZLY, a medical research study evaluating an investigational pain medication for PNP with mechanical hypersensitivity.

To pre-qualify for the GRIZZLY study, you must:
*Be 18-80 years of age AND
*Be experiencing painful symptoms due to peripheral neuropathic pain associated with mechanical hypersensitivity for at least three months or up to five years

Qualified Participants will receive study medication as well as study-related medical evaluations and tests at no cost. Reimbursement for time and travel may also be provided.

One of the leading and most successful non-profit affordable housing providers in California is looking for a volunteer to help put together a short (2-3 min) video for a fundraising campaign and to help promote our work. The video will be posted on our current website (and our new one when it is launched, currently in the works), and a link to it will be e-blasted to our e-mail list of several thousand recipients in a number of e-mail communications. It will also be posted on You Tube and on our future Facebook page.

Video content may include video footage, photo images, and words with music. The job requires you taking basic talking points and ideas using your skills in video editing and production, etc to create a moving promotional video for web distribution. The video should compel donors to want to donate money or time to help us fulfill our mission of providing housing for lower-income families and individuals in California. Funds raised will also help support our youth, technology, scholarship, and other resident programs.

This is a volunteer position/project and there will be no monetary compensation in exchange for your services. The video may get a lot of exposure to elected officials, affordable housing funders, partners, service providers, vendors, and other types of supporters. We will recognize your contribution on our website and in our distribution materials. Interested video volunteers should reply ASAP by Friday, November 20th with a resume (or informal description of skills and experience) and links to your previous work.

Thanks very much!
We are a Hospice agency, and we need Volunteers who take on the role of trusted friend, being there when our hospice patients need a listening ear, a hand to hold, or an open heart. Volunteers may give the patient emotional support, offer relief to a caregiver for a brief period of time, assist with practical tasks, or provide helpful services such as writing letters, reading and making phone calls. Companion Volunteer simply spends some time with the hospice patient like a friendly visitor. Our patients with terminal cancer, heart disease, liver disease, and other illnesses are in need of visiting volunteers like you to say hello and that they matter while they are with us. You can make a difference by giving small gift of time along with your caring heart to our patients and/or their families.
Well hello there! Thank you in advance for taking the time to read our post.
Chaparral House is a Skilled Nursing Facility conveniently located near the north Berkeley Bart Station. We are currently looking for groups (Churches, Sororities, etc.) to adopt us one weekend day per month... By adopt I mean that on the day of your visit your group would assist the Activity staff in a range of projects (anything from a move & stretch to flower arranging or maybe just a one to one visit with one of our more shy residents).

Building Futures for Women and Children needs volunteers to provide evening meals for our clients. Due to recent budget cuts about 60% of our domestic violence funding has been taken away from the women and children we serve. Our organization is having a hard time affording many daily expenses. If kind donors were able to prepare and provide dinner on a monthly basis, it would be a great help!

Additionally the position is fun! You can work with friends or family members to try out new recipes while serving people trying their best to put their lives back together. If you love cooking and giving back to those in need, this volunteer position is perfect for you.

Dinner cooks buy, prepare, and deliver a well-balanced meal for 25-30 women and children.

Dinner cooks deliver meals by 5:00 p.m. after they have prepared them at home, at their church, or other facility. Working with a group can help reduce the effort and the cost. Individuals who are unable to provide a full meal may still help by providing one dish such as an entrée or dessert. Any help is appreciated!
Looking for a volunteer opportunity that's fun and social, as well as great for the community? Look no further!

One Brick provides lots of rewarding projects, that are also fun and social. We make volunteering easy... we don't require any sort of on-going commitment, nor any troublesome orientations, like some organizations do. And signing up for a One Brick event is as easy as the click of a mouse.

If you're looking for a fun way to give back to the community and meet like-minded social volunteers, then One Brick is the way to go. Here's an upcoming event you might be interested in...

What: Sort Donated Medical Supplies (East Bay)
When: Saturday, November 14, 2009 - 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

One Brick (www.onebrick.org) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides support to other local non-profit and community organizations by creating a unique, social and flexible volunteer environment for those interested in making a concrete difference in the community. This enables people to get
involved, have an impact and have fun, without the requirements of individual long-term commitments.

When we finish each volunteer project, we gather as a group at a local bar or restaurant for food, drinks and the opportunity to continue to get to know each other. This helps to create a really fun social outlet as part of your volunteer experience.

Here's a little more information about the upcoming event:

About MedShare:
MedShare recovers surplus medical supplies and equipment that are no longer needed in the U.S. and redistributes them to healthcare facilities that serve the poor throughout the world. MedShare's been in operation for ten years in Atlanta and has shipped over 425 container loads of supplies to 74 countries. Their West Coast facitility in San Leandro opened in 2008.

One Brick will be helping to build a computerized inventory of donated supplies so that hospitals and clinics that serve the poor around the world can order what they need.

Volunteers will sort donated medical supplies into barrels of similar items. The barrels are then sorted down to boxes of the exact same item. Those boxes are then entered into a computerized inventory.

Other Event Info:
You will be working in a warehouse, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

Snacks and drinks will be provided.

This is one of those really FUN volunteer projects that makes everyone's Holiday Season brighter!

"By sponsoring a family, I am teaching my children that there is more to the holidays than just getting lots of toys."

At FSSBA we do everything we can to help our clients create a healthy, secure environment for their entire family--children and parents alike. Our Sponsor-A-Family program gives donors the opportunity to provide for the specific needs of one or more families.

During the holidays we invite members of the community to show their support of families by donating gifts or making a monetary contribution to help make a family's holiday more joyous.

We will match you with a family in need and provide you with their wish list. You decide whether you would like to sponsor a family throughout the season or for a specific holiday.

Whether you decide to donate food for a Thanksgiving dinner or gifts for a family for their holiday celebration, your support is crucial to helping keep a family together, safe and happy.

Contact us and we will be pleased to provide you with a family's "Wish List." We need as many Family Sponsors as possible, so please help us spread the word!

If your company would consider sponsoring a group of families, we want to hear from you! This is a great giving opportunity for co-workers, and can really be a team-building project for you and your workmates.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What our past sponsors have said:

"We sponsored a family last year and I let my 8 year old son help me pick out presents for a family in need. We had a wonderful time, and my son really took it in. He was thinking about giving to others all season long, and kept reminding me that there was more we could do. It was awesome!"

"I usually start to feel really jaded about the holidays when all the stores start playing Christmas carols right after Halloween. Sponsoring a family was a wonderful gift to myself last year; I got so excited when I received the family's wish list, I started making all kinds of shopping plans. It was the first time in years I really enjoyed the season."

Non-profit bike shop seeks volunteer bicycle mechanics! (alameda)

Hi,

The Cycles of Change APC community bike shop seeks great volunteers! We are a nonprofit bike shop located in West Alameda on Alameda Point (formerly the Alameda Naval Station). We have a community repair shop where you can use our tools and fix your bike, paid job training for formerly homeless people, earn-a-bike opportunities, recycled bicycle sales, and full-service repairs.

Our mission is to empower local communities by providing outstanding recycled bicycle services that are safe, thriving, creative and self-sustaining.
We welcome and appreciate the support of people in the community. We're always looking for volunteers with experience fixing bikes.

Bicycle Repair Volunteer Description

Bicycle repair volunteers help repair donated bikes that would be either sold, earned, or used for our field trips. This support is crucial for our ongoing success!
You're also welcome to come during our community shop hours and help other people fix their bikes.

Skills

Able to interact positively with a diverse group of people.
A good understanding of bicycle maintenance, and a desire to contribute to a community based bike shop.
Be available during some of our open shop hours: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12-6pm, and Saturdays from 11-5pm.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Other volunteer opportunities exist as well. Some other ways that you can help are with:
* SALES SUPPORT: With all the visitors in the shop, its a struggle to keep up with customers coming in! Bicycle sales volunteers would help work with customers who are looking through our big stock of used kids and adult bikes!
* PARTS ORGANIZATION: Organize parts and contribute to the design and beautification of the shop.
*HOST A BIKE RAISER: Mobilize your local community to support us by bringing in bicycle donations for us.
* OUTREACH SUPPORT: Spread the word to everyone you can! Write a story in a newspaper or magazine, talk to local schools, churches and other organizations, hang fliers, and build new partnerships.
* GRASSROOTS FUNDRAISERS: Help develop fundraising ideas for the project! House fundraisers, benefits, etc.!

MORE ABOUT WHO WE ARE: Cycles of Change APC is a friendly non-profit community bicycle shop which opened in June 2006. It's mission is to empower local communities by providing outstanding recycled bicycle services in a safe, thriving and creative community space. Services include used bike sales, youth and adult job training, bicycle field trips, a community do-it-together repair shop, volunteer opportunities, and much more! Since opening two years ago, over 1600 bikes have been donated, hundreds of bikes have been sold and earned by youth and adults, and hundreds of people have participated in our programs!

We are a new non-profit cat rescue group and desperately need volunteers. We are going to, and have already begun to make a difference in the overwhelming amount of cats and kittens who are euthanized in Fairfield each week. Did you know that 150 of these innocent souls are killed weekly? Most people choose to NOT know this. It's the horrifying truth, plain and simple.
There are just too many cats, and not nearly enough homes.

We will be operating in the Vallejo, Fairfield and Vacaville areas. Although there can never be too many volunteers, they are so very needed in Vallejo!!!

A non-profit organization which can use the assistance of teachers, lawyers, computer professionals, and many more.
Clinical psychology graduate student is searching for volunteers (ages 6-11) for personality and cognitive assessment. Willing to pay $30 for time donated (total time would be between 5-6 hours broken up over 2-3 sessions)---for a good cause and most learn more about themselves in the process. The assessment would need to happen soon (starting as early as next week) and I will be happy to work around your schedule. Please recognize that graduate student is not licensed yet but assessment process will be supervised. Any results shared would be unofficial due to unlicensed status of student. Testing would take place at a public library or quiet room in home of subject, depending on subject's comfort level. Feel free to ask questions. Ideal situation would be a subject whose gender and/or ethnicity is different from examiner (Caucasian female). Thank you!

Volunteer tutors are needed for our successful after school Super Stars Literacy (SSL) program. As an SSL tutor, you'll work directly with K-2 students, one-on-one, focusing on literacy tools such as building phonemic awareness, comprehension and reading skills. Our program currently runs M-F after school until 5 PM at five Oakland elementary school sites. The SSL tutor works with the Group Leader and Program Coordinator to assist students who need extra help.

Make a difference in a child's life by volunteering just an hour a week - about 4-5 hours a month. We need your help, and we are very flexible on hours. Early literacy is critical to success in school and in life. Join us to help make a difference. You can help plant a seed to read and give the opportunity for a bright future to a child.

All tutors are required to have fingerprinting and TB clearance prior to beginning work. You will be reimbursed for these expenses. For more information, visit our website at www.superstarsliteracy.org , or contact our Volunteer Coordinator:

Volunteer at Playland Kids' Museum (albany / el cerrito)

Are you someone who enjoys working with others and bringing out the kid in everyone? Do you love history and enjoy entertaining others?
Playland-Not-At-The-Beach, a non-profit family fun museum located in El Cerrito, CA is looking to expand its family of volunteers! This week we are hosting two baby parties for kids celebrating their first and second birthdays. These parties will include siblings as well as parents, aunts and uncles and grandparents. Some weeks we are hosting parties for sports teams, service clubs and grandparents. Every week is different.
We’re also looking for volunteers to help with all the events and parties that we throw on a normal basis. With the holiday season fast approaching, we will soon have some extra decorations to put up. We need volunteer docents to host tours of the museum, people to run our wide collection of games, and chaperones to help keep an eye on activities throughout the museum during events. In addition to normal tours, we offer a variety of different events (such as murder mystery parties, treasure/ghost hunts, and séances) and we need volunteers to serve as performers and enthusiastic hosts to help create a memorable experience for our guests.
This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to learn more about history, become a better performer or just looking to have fun time. Any of our previous volunteers can confirm; working with us is the most fun you’ll ever have volunteering.

In conjunction with those needs Playland is always expanding and rebuilding its 25 exhibits and we’re in need of skilled people to help with that. Anyone with previous carpentry experience or art skills would be of great help to us, and we would love to have you on board.
The hours this week when we need helpers are: Wednesday (Veterans' Day), Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Normally we need help Friday nights and Saturday and Sunday during the days, but some projects such as the juke box sorting of music or the art work can be done Monday through Friday. On weekends we host several events a day and there would be shifts (morning, afternoon, and night) that would be assigned to each volunteer. More information about Playland can be found at www.playland-not-at-the-beach.org.

At Playland-Not-at-the-Beach we have 33 pinball machines spanning 7 decades. The games are all set on free play, so they get a good workout each weekend from all the guests who come through our Museum of Fun. We have two volunteers who come in every Thursday to maintain our fleet of machines. They rely on us to let them know which machines need attention. We need a volunteer or group of volunteers who can come in periodically and play all the games and troubleshoot for any problems: flippers not working right, bulbs burnt out, etc. It would also be nice if these volunteers could clean the machines -- we will teach them how to do this. We will also teach you how to clean the machines.

We are open to the public Saturdays and Sundays, so ideally this work can get done early in the week prior to the visit by the two technicians. If a volunteer wants to get trained on how ro do easy routine maintenance, we can also give some training.

Hello,

My husband and I are blind. We have 5 children. We have a boy who is 13 in eighth grade, a boy who is 11 in sixth grade, a girl who is 8 in third grade, a boy who is 3 at home and a girl who is 2 at home. Because we can’t see, it has been very difficult to help our school age children with their homework. As a result, their grades are suffering considerably. Our 11 year old is far below grade level. The sadness that this is causing him is so heart breaking. As parents, it is very sad and painful to watch our children struggle so much and not be able to help them. We are reaching out for some one with a big heart in the community who can volunteer a few hours a week to give us some assistance with our children’s homework. Whether you are a high school student seeking work for your community requirement, a senior citizen with some time on your hands or just any one who wants to do a good deed. Please help us help our children to feel good about themselves and their school performance. Our 2 boys go to Middle school and our daughter goes to Elementary school in Union City near BART. We are looking for some one to come to our home and work with them. Thank you in advance and God bless you. This is a very sincere request for help and we ask that you not flag this posting.

Your smile, companionship, and a few hours a week can improve the quality of someone’s life including yours.

Hospice is a philosophy of care, not a location or building. Our teams of caregivers consist of registered nurses, physicians, home healthcare aides, social workers, chaplains, bereavement counselors, and trained volunteers. We provide what is called palliative care to the patient, that is, care that helps ease pain and discomforting symptoms. In addition, we provide psycho-social and spiritual support for both patients and their loved ones. Patients typically receive our services in their own homes or in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. For more information feel free to call Melanie 408-626-4868.

Do you have a family history of heart disease? Have you ever been told that you are overweight? Do you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol? Are you unable to find time to exercise?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be eligible to participate in a scientific study involving the dietary supplement, Nattokinase.
