About Repo!
In the year 2056, an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

This unique work will explore the impact of racism on black identity. It will use movement poetry and film. Dazié Grego has been performing in the Bay Area as an actor dancer poet and hip hop artist for over 10 years. He is a graduate of the Experimental Performance Institute and holds a Bachelors of Arts with an emphasis on performance poetry.
If there is a word that has been utilized to describe his work it is “unapologetic” As an artist it is his belief that being politically correct interferes with the experience of truth.
He does not spare himself or his audience of the truth.
This is a casting call for multi-disciplined artists of color. A special emphasis is being placed on black artists. If you are black an activist actor poet dancer who is comfortable vocalizing and not scared of taking risks we need to connect. This work is being created for an artists residency an Mama Calizo’s Voice Factory.
The performance will take place in January and requires 3-6 hours of rehearsal weekly

This is going to change the way we discuss racism.
Opportunities for experienced performance artists who would like to develop 3-5min pieces that deal directly with spiritual physical or personal “dismorphia” based on the impact racism has had on there culture are available. “Culture” includes gender race and sexual orientation and religious beliefs or affiliations. These 3-5 min pieces are being offered to all artists. We would take probably 2 hours to do the shoot, then I would photoshop them so you look your best and send you copies. A second shoot may be sensible to refine the shots, do new ones, or just to break it up.
I don't have a studio, and my home isn't really suitable for this, at least until I put some time into that. If we can shoot at your place, that would be great, or some public location like a park, though it's getting a little chilly to be shooting outside at night.
It would be best if you have a look that lends itself to that era. No nose or lip rings, no tattoos visible from the shoulders up or on the arms, and your hair should be able to look similar to that era. If you have outfits or hats, those are good. I have a few, but haven't really started collecting yet.

The Center for Health Training, a nonprofit in Oakland, is hiring 4-6 “mystery clients” for a research study on family planning services. The purpose of the study is to evaluate whether clinics offering a natural method of family planning (CycleBeads) affects women’s choice of a birth control method.
The “mystery clients” will schedule appointments at two clinics (one in Modesto and one in Santa Rosa) posing as a patient who is interested in a birth control method. They will receive counseling only – no exams or blood work!
Following the appointments, you be asked to complete a checklist about the visit.
“Mystery clients” must be women between 23-44 years old, able to play the role of a fictional birth control patient, and be willing to travel to both Santa Rosa and Modesto for one clinic visit at each site.
Pay is $100 per day plus travel expenses to and from the training and both clinics, for a total of $300 plus expenses. Payment will be made at the completion of each event.
The responsibilities of the “mystery shoppers” are as follows:
• Attend a training session in Oakland on Thursday, November 19th, from 10am - 3pm ($100 payment)
• Make and attend one appointment at each of 2 clinics, one in Santa Rosa and one in Modesto, posing as a birth control patient, and complete a detailed checklist ($100 payment each). Appointments must be completed by December 22.

* $500 cash for ~3 hours -- I shoot 12 looks, and I only spend about 6-8 minutes per look, so usually we finish it in pretty much exactly 3 hours.
* Very laid-back -- I don't really preplan specific looks (but if you bring wardrobe that you want to shoot in, then we can do that too), since i"ve got a TON of wardrobe here and because I like variety -- I just want each outfit to look different from the rest.
* Does include nudes -- Each look would include a full outfit, matching lingerie/undies and full nudes. ALthough I don't need you masturbating, I'm also not looking for a conservative "fine art" nude model. Basically not porn, but FULL nudes.
* Retouched photos too -- I'm sure you've got a giant portfolio already, but I"ll still include full copy/rights to the retouched shots, usually 50-150 per shoot.
I'm very selective in who I choose because budget is not unlimited
I am a songwriter/singer/guitarist about to begin recording an album of original material. Planning to do the majority of tracking at my home to keep budget down, and supplement as needed with pro studio tracking.
Bulk of material is acoustic guitar-based folk/rock. (My tunes get compared frequently to classic artists like Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, and Steve Miller). And while I may use some midi beats and pads on some tracks, I will probably only use real drums on a handful at most. This would be via session drummers and their studio (remote recording) or in a local studio. Most of other parts will be bass (DI electric and upright), mandolin, violin, and perhaps limited harmonica and hand percussion.
I have led bands before, and done home recording before, but this will be my first solo effort with the intent of having a professional-level product at the end - not just a demo.
At home, I use Logic Express and an Apogee Duet. I have suitable mics for acoustic guitar and voice. My recording space isn't great. I've dampened it as much as I can w/ acoustic foam/treatment.
I've had success recording what I would call good quality demos - the individual tracks themselves sound good. But because of my lack of mixing skill, the songs often sound thin and a bit one-dimensional or "flat".
Looking for someone who will be able to thicken things up. I know that the proper use of delays, reverbs, doubling, etc. can all help with that, and I know what sounds good. I just don't have the mixing skills to get there.
As I mentioned, I have not yet begun recording, though the tunes are written and rehearsed already, with some initial scratch track work underway already.
My hope is to find someone who is a mixing expert, comfortable in Logic, who has professional credits and experience (don't need to be major label of course), samples they can send links for, who can primarily play the role of Mixing Engineer, but who could also advise a little at the beginning of the process to help me avoid pitfalls that would be obstacles to a great sounding album.
Please send - name, web site, examples of your work (via myspace or whatever), and an estimate. I would prefer to pay on a project basis (or per song) rather than hourly. Also, I'd like to hear about genres you work in, and if you have a particular approach that you tend to follow.
I don't really care where you live. It's nice to be able to try to make changes in discussion in real time, listening to the same monitors, etc. But I've worked remotely before and don't mind it at all. In fact, in some ways it's better because we'll both be listening to the monitors we know best at our own places.
I want a professional product and am willing to pay professional prices. I am not looking for hobbyists or students. I am trying to save some money by doing what I can at home, and really feel that quality mixing will be essential to having a product I can be proud of.
