$850 Grad Student Seeking Quiet Room (Berkeley, N. Oakland or Sunset SF)

Hi. I'm a female grad student relocating to the Bay Area for a master's program that I'll be starting in the fall. I'm in the area now and am available to meet people and see places.

I'm looking for a quiet, private room (no living rooms or shared rooms, please). Semi-furnished or unfurnished could be fine. (I won't be able to use a bed, though other furnishings could be helpful).

I'm very friendly, but also independent, and am typically quiet at home, and head out for my social life & adventure, but can go either way in terms of sociability or independence depending on what we have in common, my schedule, your inclinations, etc. I'm gay friendly, straight friendly, diversity friendly, considerate and responsible, and am looking for a share with responsible, considerate housemates who also prefer a more peaceful space at home. I'm a vegetarian and would appreciate a vegetarian kitchen, but it's not a necessity. My interests are international culture & social justice oriented, and in my free time I head out for long urban & nature hikes, bike rides, international music and film, and other culture and arts oriented events.

As I plan to be in the area for several years I'd really love to find something with the potential to work out well for the longer term.

My preferred locations would be either in the Berkeley or N. Oakland area within a mile or so of BART, in an area considered fairly safe for nighttime walking, or in the Sunset District or thereabouts in SF, but may also consider other locations. (My program is in SF, but as I'll only need to be there a couple of times per week and would really enjoy Berkeley or N. Oakland I'll consider either area).

I'd like to keep rent and utilities under $850 or so, but would be glad to find something more economical.

If you have something becoming available that seems like a good fit I'd love to hear from you. Please send me some basic info about the room (location, rent / utilities, description of the room, and something about the other housemates and atmosphere in the house / apartment) and if it sounds like a good possibility I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Photos would be helpful.

Thanks!
