The Data Centers Network Architecture and Security team is responsible for network design, implementation, management, and security in this challenging environment. At Ask.com, you will have the opportunity to help people throughout the world find information and have fun.
You will be responsible for the implementation, operations and problem solving for the production data center networks for Ask.com and IAC Search & Media. You will be involved in designing, testing and selecting equipment, and evaluating the network and security infrastructure as well as policies, and defining needed improvements.
The environment consists of Cisco and HP switches and routers, F5 and Foundry load balancers, and Juniper firewalls.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical ownership, such as project planning, service level agreements development, monitoring, and reporting, as well as research, proposal development, design, implementation, and consultation on topics in the following areas:
• WAN / LAN / MAN services and maintenance.
• Network services availability and security.
• Remote access availability and security.
• Routing and Vlan services and maintenance.
• Firewall services and maintenance.
• Networked systems monitoring, auditing and reporting.
• Expand, administer, and troubleshoot network operations on a day-to-day basis.
• Researches, assesses, recommends and implements enhancements to network and systems environments.
• 3rd tier networking support to the Operations teams.
• Assist in managing vendor relationships and cost tracking for related products and services.
• Supports the Engineering and Operations departments in the design and implementation of network components, including support of development systems and assistance with testing.
• Architects, maintains and consults regarding all network components, functions, naming conventions and IP service implementations (ip schemes, vlans, routing, dns)
• Provides and maintains comprehensive documentation of network systems. This is to include all LAN/WAN/MAN infrastructure and disaster recovery planning.
• Responsible for the ongoing development and support of standards and policies. Evaluates and deploys supplemental tools and functionality as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 5+ years experience implementing and operating enterprise level networks
• 3+ years experience building and mentoring a team of network engineers
• Strong project management skills
• Thorough understanding of networking technologies
• Very strong L2/switching experience and troubleshooting skills: (production LAN design, fully versed in networking concepts such as STP / RSTP / MSTP / PVST, ARP, VTP, QOS)
• Experience with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, E/IGRP)
• Full understanding of OSI Layer 3 networks and protocols (including broadcast/multicast concepts, routing and CGMP / IGMP)
• Understanding of network security methodologies as a whole, including but not limited to: ACLs, ipfw / iptables, VPNs (tunneling, IPsec, PPTP, etc.)
• Experience with enterprise-level LAN / WAN network design and the ability to create useful documentation with Visio and other tools
• Administrative scripting skills (Perl, UNIX shell scripting)
• Fluency with common network admin and intrusion detection tools such as Snort, MRTG, Nagios, Ethereal/Wireshark, Nmap, Nessus, and others.
• Experience managing network service and similar support providers in a client/vendor relationship
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Experience:
• CCIE or equivalent skills
• Load balancing (layer 4-7 switching), F5 BigIP, 3DNS / GSM, and Foundry ServerIron
• Security solutions such as PIX firewalls, Netscreen, Checkpoint
• Tracking & mitigating DOS attacks, floods, and viral worm traffic
• Knowledge of Linux and systems security
