SR. NETWORK ENGINEER
Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Infrastructure and Operations, the Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of Art.com's internal and external voice and data network including architecture, engineering, operations and support. We have several brands and sites presented in multiple languages and domains that combine to provide the widest selection of art, prints, posters, framing and related products and services worldwide. Our network services all of our external sites as well as significant internal applications and data processing between the companys domestic and international locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily operational hands-on network duties working with Layer 1-7 switching, TCP/IP, OSPF, HSRP, and load balancing (Foundry/Cisco L2/L3 switches, Netscreen firewalls, Citrix/Netscaler load balancers)
Demonstrated experience with routing and switching VLANs, tunneling, spanning tree, trunking
Document the current and future network architecture and technology
Strong technical background and in-depth knowledge of delivering complex solutions using industry best practices and methods
Implement and Maintain Existing & future Data Center Networks
Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation
Responsible for ongoing support/troubleshooting of configuration and layout of high volume eCommerce enterprise infrastructure , in a 24x7 environment
Implement network technology, process, and security standards
Ensure the Infrastructure team has the appropriate information and skills to successfully administer and support the network environment
Develop, monitor, and report the appropriate metrics to measure network performance and availability and to identify necessary improvements
Evaluate current network infrastructure and identify technologies and manage projects designed to improve security, scalability and reliability of the overall environment
Manage, ensure PCI and SOX compliance, and ensure continued compliance with regulatory requirements, best practices, and policies and procedures
Manage network vendor relations ensuring selected vendors are providing optimal service and cost
Plan and manage multiple network infrastructure projects
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field
5-6 years in IT as a Network Engineer or an equivalent position
Advanced networking and / or security certifications
Advanced knowledge of high-availability technologies
Proven background and experience in designing, monitoring and troubleshooting enterprise wide area networks
Ability to prioritize projects and deliver on commitments
Experience designing and administering networks for an Ecommerce/Internet Retailer environment
Experience with global networks and IPSEC, VPN, MPLS technologies
Expert knowledge of: Juniper, Netscreen, or Cisco firewalls (NS and Juniper preferred)
Foundry - Big Iron, Fast Iron, or NetIron experience
Monitoring design, network analysis and metric reporting to establish bandwidth usage forecasting and network availability
Load balancing traffic and engineering for automatic failover
Layer 3 Experience: OSPF Routing including route redistribution, Multihoming, Load balancing traffic and engineering for automatic failover, Flow analysis experience a plus
Advanced troubleshooting skills and effective troubleshooting methods including: Layer 1 (copper cabling issues/ fiber signal strength), Layer 2 (spanning tree, vlan tagging, mac address tracing), Layer 3 (routing issues, OSPF, BGP), Layer 4 (firewall issues)
Architecture and Design: Router/switch security, Proven experience in best practice design and implementation, Visio design/diagramming skills (Must have)
Results driven, ability to initiate and lead multiple projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Must have)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously; with a great attention to detail, operates with urgency, focus and discipline
