POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Lumber Yard Store Manager is responsible for directing all store operations and oversees customer service for walk-in professional and do-it yourself customers in a fast paced and at times hectic business setting. This position requires multitasking while at the same time accurate detailed work. This is a hands on position with direct interaction with customers, vendors and employees. The right candidate must enjoy the challenges and successes of working in a very competitive business and have aspirations and potential for greater management responsibilities.

Specific responsibilities include the following:
• Ensuring customers receive excellent service.
• Supervision, development and evaluation of all customer service staff.
• Product selection, purchasing and merchandising of all store merchandise.
• Oversee purchasing to ensure inventories are maintained at predetermined levels for maximum turnover and profitability.
• Make sales to specific major accounts.
• Participate in price management and project estimating.
• Increasing sales with both contractors and do-it-yourselfers.
• Opening and closing store

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma and some additional training
Preferred Education (Not required): College degree in Business Administration.
Clean Driving Record
Completing Drug Test

Experience:
• 5 years of related experience in the lumber industry or construction hardware supply industry.
• 2 - 4 years related management experience.
• 1 - 2 years working with the California construction industry.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
• Administrative skills including assigning work, budgeting, checking work, coaching/counseling, discipline, evaluating, planning, recordkeeping, reporting, selection/termination, supervision and training.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• General knowledge of construction techniques
• Purchasing and merchandising
• Math skills including calculating, projection and statistical analysis.
• Business skills including forecasting and marketing.
• Determination to get the job done right and on time.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Medium to advanced Computer skills.
