Position: Independent Living Specialist-Private Pay Registry
Part-Time: 20 hours per week
Salary: $16,000 per year
Supervisor: Oakland Program Manager
Location: Downtown Oakland

Summary: This position will provide information and services on CIL’s Private Pay Registry and core services to consumers and the public.

Responsibilities:
1. Help create, implement and oversee the CIL Private Pay Registry.
2. In conjunction with Program Manager and other IL staff, develop and implement a recruitment and outreach plan, resulting in the availability of quality Personal Attendants.
3. Provide support and advocacy to consumers and prospective personal attendants on issues relating to the IHSS program. Provide consumers with listings of prospective attendants by mail, phone, or email.
4. As needed provide supportive services to consumers, which facilitate the hiring of Personal Attendants. Conduct routine follow-up calls with both consumers and attendants.
5. Provide Information and Referral services to consumers, Personal Attendants, and the general public on topics such as relevant community services, the IHSS program criteria and application process.
6. Write and submit in a timely fashion monthly reports containing statistical information such as numbers of consumers served as well as type of service provided.
7. Provide other core services to persons with disabilities: Independent Living Skills Training, Peer Counseling, Advocacy, Housing Search Assistance, and Information and Referral.
8. Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. Personal experience with a disability and at least two years work experience in the disability field.
2. Two years of experience with personal attendants’ services and familiarity with advocacy issues.
3. BA or equivalent experience required.
4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
5. BI-lingual/BI-cultural highly desired.
