Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center (TVHC, Inc.) is a premier provider of community-based healthcare in So. Alameda County. Our Women Infants Children (WIC) Program provides on-going assessment, counseling/education, referrals and resources to eligible WIC participants and their children.
Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, Inc. is hiring a temporary, full-time WIC Clerk who will be responsible for coordinating the flow of information to participants and performing daily front desk operations.
WIC CLERK
Utilizing the guidelines and regulations provided by Federal and State WIC program policies, the WIC Clerk works under the direction of the Supervising Registered Dietician to provide direct service to WIC participants. The position requires the candidate to participate in all aspects of screening, scheduling appointments, and Food Instrument Security and Distribution. The WIC Clerk handles, operates and maintains the telephone system and other office and computer equipment; performs inventories and orders office supplies, forms and nutrition education materials; participates in assigned outreach activities, program continuing education, in-services, scheduled meetings, or any related educational program.
REQUIREMENTS
Must have a HS diploma, valid CA driver’s license and proof of insurance (some travel required), availability to work Saturdays and evenings and willingness to rotate among TVHC WIC sites as necessary. Must be bilingual in Spanish/English, Vietnamese/English, Hindi/English, or Farsi/English. Should have basic knowledge of telephone systems and telephone etiquette. Basic computer/word processing skills and the ability to learn ISIS Program application also required. Must have at least one year experience in customer service. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and demonstrate high level of confidentiality. Must be able to multi-task and handle stressful situations with diplomacy and tact. Must demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to multicultural groups, encompassing a variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
PREFERRED
Prior experience with WIC is preferred.
