Picture Framer. Full time. Experience preferred. Hours needed: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Hourly wage depends upon experience. Trainees start at $10 per hour and advance in salary over the first six months. Full benefits after six month training period with full time employment. We need a motivated applicant to work in our do-it-yourself framing area. Framers help customers put their framing projects together, design and take framing orders, complete some custom framing, and attend to all duties on our sales floor and in our back room. Trainees have the opportunity to learn all aspects of picture framing, from design, to cutting, to assembly.
We will only train individuals who make a commitment to stay on the job for at least a year or more. All of our framers have been with us for many years, and we have decided to add one more, so we are looking for someone to fit in with our current group. Our framing candidate must be able to work in a cooperative, collaborative environment with our current staff. We are looking for someone who is very good with the public, has excellent design skills and who ideally has some experience. To do this job you must be careful and meticulous. We pride ourselves on our design skills, our excellent customer service, and responsible art handling.
Our knowledgeable framing staff is trained to provide professional design services, whatever the project. Our framer’s abilities include all aspects of cutting mats, moulding (wood or metal), mounting, glass, acrylic cutting, shadow box specialties, stretching and stitching of textiles or canvas paintings, fabric wrapping, flexible fillets, mirror framing, all preservation techniques, and a lot of other specialties. We use a Wizard 8500 CMC, and Integrated Framer Visualization. We use Frame Ready POS software. Basic computer literacy is a must.
The Framer’s Workshop is a family owned full service custom and do-it-yourself frame shop near the University of California at Berkeley. We have been in business at the same location since 1977. We provide customers with a very large selection of archival materials and picture frame moulding styles.
The Framer’s Workshop is a high volume shop with competitive prices and we have a solid, loyal customer base. Our staff provides a professional, positive, and friendly approach to all our customers. We pride ourselves on our staff and we only hire framers who work well with the public. We offer a pleasant working environment and give our full time workers vacation days, sick days, and a partially paid health program. We are open seven days and one evening a week. Work schedules are different for each framer so that we can accommodate all our open hours. Please do not apply if you can't work on the weekends.
