The Alameda County Fair Association is a non-profit organization that manages the Alameda County Fairgrounds with over 3 million people in attendance at the many 300 events held each year. Home to the Annual Alameda County Fair and public and private events including large consumer and trade shows, festivals, corporate events, concerts, graduations, picnics, weddings and other social events.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Alameda County Fair Fine Arts Department has traditionally consisted of fine art, photography, and poetry competition, where entries which are entered, juried, judged, and then displayed in our Plaza del Arte outdoor exhibits at the annual Fair. It is a prestigious competition for regional artists, as it is a juried show and artwork accepted for display may be viewed by over 400, 000 fairgoers who attend the annual fair.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Works with Exhibit Supervisor to solicit and contract competition show judges.
• Revise and update exhibit catalog and competition guidelines each year.
• Schedules department events and work orders.
• Demonstrates proficiency in understanding and interpreting state and local fair rules.
• Uniformly enforces all rules and fair policies, as set forth in exhibitor catalog, resolving any conflicts or protests in a professional and ethical manner.
• Communicates with fair management about trends and issues affecting exhibitors, judging, and overall competition.
• Coordinates Fine Arts Department entry receiving, judging, display and release of entries.
• Promotes competition, working with fair management to provide information for the media and other sources as necessary.
• Encourages positive growth of yearly competition, conducting outreach in order to encourage participation from throughout the community and region.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise Fine Art Department employees and volunteers to staff the Fine Arts exhibit area during the annual fair.
• Coordinates daily operations of Fine Art Department sales Office, that facilitates sales of artwork displayed at fair to general public.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Good customer service skills
• Museum or Art Show background
• Previous experience supervising employees and volunteers
• Flexible Availability
- Compensation: $16.00 per hour approximately 300 hours per year
