International Law Firm seeking Environmental Litigation Paralegal for Oakland office. This position is responsible for providing paralegal support to the Environmental and Work Place Safety practice group, but must also be able to assist in all aspects of environmental civil, criminal, administrative, and litigation.

Other duties include but not limited to: preparation of case research declarations and/or affidavits; draft pleadings; advise attorneys of status dates and changes; coordinate document retrieval; organize and maintain documentation on large matter case management; assist in preparation of documents for trial; determine and maintain database needs for large case management; perform e-filings; summarize abstracts; and maintain time reports.

Must possess excellent knowledge of reading, writing, grammar, spelling, punctuation, proofreading, and formatting in order to interpret source data, prepare litigation documents and forms, proofread material for grammatical, typographical, and spelling errors, and perform file maintenance.

Must be proficient in the use and maintenance of electronic databases with applicable knowledge of legal research methods, court rules and procedures, litigation terminology and docketing procedures.

Computer proficient with experience and working knowledge of Westlaw and other litigation-related databases; including Concordance, Casemap, Internet research, due diligence, Excel, Outlook, Adobe and MS Word preferred. Applicable knowledge of methods of legal research, court rules and procedures, litigation terminology and documentation, docketing procedures, and Bates numbering is preferred. Working knowledge of Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) procedures is also preferred.
Proficient in the use and maintenance of electronic databases, including but not limited to, running and monitoring complex electronic document productions.

Excellent organizational skills including record keeping, data collection, and system information. Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish information in report format, written correspondence, e mail, or verbally.

Analytical skills requiring an aptitude for detail and accuracy in order to analyze and research litigation-related data, process information, and perform essential duties. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply mathematical concepts when computing, reconciling balances, and verifying numerical data on forms and documents.

Frequent travel to other Firm locations and client sites will be required, which may occur on short notice. Work occasionally requires more than 37.5 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.

Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of related experience, preferably from a law firm. Paralegal certificate from accredited ABA program a plus.
