About Us: We are a small, busy and growing law firm with offices in San Ramon and Los Angeles that is best known for representing insurance companies and corporate clients in litigation throughout California. However, we also handle other kinds of lawsuits. In addition, we provide a wide range of non-litigation services to individuals and small businesses.

Our Needs: Our litigation practice needs part-time help from an attorney with at least 2-3 years of experience with civil litigation in both state and federal courts. We need someone who -- with minimal supervision -- can handle all forms of civil discovery, as well as routine law and motion work. The ideal candidate will already know what is involved when preparing for trial and will have recent trial experience (as either first- or second-chair). Our non-litigation practice is producing new opportunities for an attorney with experience in business formations, commercial matters, employment issues and intellectual property. Our ideal candidate will have both an entrepreneurial spirit and either an existing practice in those areas or the desire to create one. We also would consider any candidate with an existing practice in some other area(s) that could be effectively marketed to individuals and small businesses.

The Position: This is a part-time position. We cannot promise a minimum number of hours per week or month. Nevertheless, we do hope to eventually keep the right candidate as busy as he or she wants to be. To that end, we are prepared to provide an office in San Ramon (with phone, computer, printer and copier) and support from the firm’s attorneys and staff. We also are willing to help the right candidate develop and execute a marketing plan to help grow a mutually-beneficial practice of his or her own. In the meantime, we will ask you to support our litigation practice and help with certain non-litigation matters. Compensation will depend on experience, but initially will be on an hourly basis. In the beginning, benefits will not be available. After a brief probationary period, though, we can offer health, dental and vision insurance to employees who regularly work more than 20 hours per week.

About You: This is a unique opportunity for an experienced attorney with an entrepreneurial spirit. To take advantage of it, you will need basic computer skills and the ability to add meaningful depth to a sophisticated litigation practice. An existing (and portable) client base would be helpful, but is not necessary. However, you must be a self-starter who is sincerely interested in building a successful practice – and who already has at least some idea of how to go about doing that.
