Lincoln Child Center prepares children with severe emotional disturbances to lead a healthy and normal life by providing them and their families with education and therapy in a healing environment. Established in 1881, Lincoln has served thousands of children. It is renowned for mental health, residential treatment and education programs.
JOB SUMMARY:
Implement a quality, comprehensive and individualized Life Skills Program for seriously emotionally disturbed residential and day treatment children in a non-public middle or elementary school setting. Implement milieu and clinical responsibilities in associated treatment program. Plan and implement the after-school recreation program for the campus residential program
On-call counselors are called to work in the school on an as needed basis. The school schedule is Monday-Friday 8:15am-4:15pm. Supervisors will call you in for shifts according to your availability. On-call counselors earn $12.00 an hour, and there are no benefits. This job is ideal for anyone in college needing flexibility, anyone desiring experience in the mental health field or with children, or anyone needing extra cash while making a difference in a child's life (you must have previous experience working with children).
REQUIREMENTS:
BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a major in a behavioral science subject (child development, psychology, counseling and guidance, early childhood education, human services, nursing, social science, social welfare, social work, sociology). One (1) year of mental health experience with experience in a recognized childcare facility with SED children preferred.
Also:
· Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to and competence in dealing with the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of the client population.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· The ability to relate effectively and professionally with children, supervisor, co-workers and staff.
· Valid California driver’s license, a clear driving record and personal vehicle insurance coverage.
