Responsibilities:
• Screen, review and identify cases to be processed for SSI Disability on behalf of the county/state.
• Assist the County with their internal system to screen out children for whom it would not be in the County’s best interest to file an application.
• Act as first-line contract liaison with County/State staff regarding day-to-day questions.
• Provide training as needed to social workers regarding the SSI disability process and how it relates to children in foster care.
• Work with the County assigned staff to coordinate and complete SSI disability reviews.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports for all Northern California accounts.
• Conduct age 18 reviews and provide written report on all cases where an application is not filed or appealed.

Required Skills (training provided):
• Working knowledge of funding sources available for foster care programs and how they affect a child’s eligibility for SSI/SSDI benefits.
• Ability to interpret public social service programs as well as SSA programs.
• Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with minimal supervision.
• Be highly self-motivated and responsive to goals and deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of California Welfare Systems (e.g., CalWIN, CWS/CMS) or other similar data bases a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must recognize and maintain the confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Required Experience:
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
• Three years of experience in a human relations/social services field.
• Some regional travel required, depending on branch office locations and accounts.
